Hide & Seek

Okay, my story was inspired by this image:

Impatient. Tapping. Fidgeting. Constantly glancing at my pocket watch. It was really beginning to bug me.
“Master, proper ladies do not fidget.” I whispered softly into my master’s ear, careful not to get too close and irritate her further.
“Silence, servant! Since when do you know what ‘proper’ is?” More fidgeting, more glancing.
“Since now. I know that proper isn’t what you are doing.” Leaning back again, I switched Sir Integra’s jacket to my other arm. “Besides, enjoy the evening. Since when do you have no paperwork?”
“I rather do work than to stand here like a porcelain doll, in a tight dress, not SMOKING! I need a cigar, Alucard, and I know that you can tell.”
“I can tell everything about you, Sir Integra.” I chuckled at the foul stare my master gave me. After she turned back around, I looked at her openly. I never knew that MY master could look so good in such a dress. Quite amazing, actually. Even more beautiful than . . . . her. I shook my head to rid it of such thoughts.
“Something wrong, pet?” She inquired sarcastically before turning back around.
“Just thinking of my past, Master. Surely you remember the stories?” I smiled slightly, flipping some hair away from my face. She WAS right. Standing here was getting a little annoying.
“Yes, Alucard, I remember the stories. My father always told me so many stories of a valiant No Life King falling by his hand.”
“Of course your father would only tell of my failure. I was quite successful at one point.”
Suddenly, my Master stamped her foot angrily, her delicate foot hitting the ground forcefully. “Dammit, Alucard! No, don’t make that face, let me explain. I am so bored! What are you good for? You can’t even entertain your master!”
I let my voice roll out like thunder, my laugh echoing through the hall and turning heads. “I felt your boredom, but I didn’t want to annoy you. So, what kind of entertainment would you like?”
“Oh, I don’t care! Do something!” Integra turned her lithe body towards me and stared at me impatiently.
I tapped my free hand against my chin, eyes flicking up to the ceiling in thought. “You make it very hard to think with your staring, my Dear Master.” I smiled slightly as I heard an annoyed sigh, and a rustle of hair. Apparently, she had turned her head.
“Ah! I’ve got it!” My master turned her head so suddenly I heard her vertebrae snap.
“Yes? What is it?” A small smiled dawned on her face, bringing the child back to the surface.
I laughed again, more heads turned. “The last time I saw that beautiful child was when it was your birthday. You were, oh, about 14. Such sweet memories.” I gently began to stroke her hair, the small smile on my Master’s face remaining where it was. Such moments were precious to me.
“Well, what is it? Tell me please!” Integra placed one of her small, delicate hands lightly on my chest, leaning closer in anticipation. “Please?”
“Yes yes, my dear Integra. My idea is . . .” I paused for effect, leaning down to her ear, listening intently to the fast beating of her waiting heart. “. . . . your favorite childhood game.”
Integra’s face broke into a full-blown grin. “Oh, Alucard! Are you serious?”
As I nodded slightly, I watched her face closely. Had I possibly found some way to let her childish happiness survive the night?
The Protestant Knight of England let out a squeal as she turned back around, watching the people down the hall carefully. “But how? We won’t be able to get away without being noticed.”
I laughed again, only quietly this time, as to not attract any attention.
“I have a plan.”
