A hacker's sight.

Chapter 1: Michael’s mind

Raven’s flat was almost silent. Only a few lights were on in the computer lab this night. Three people were sitting at different computers stations, all seemed to be very hard at work even though it was past midnight by this time.

Amon sat at his computer, eyes reading whatever that was on the screen. He looked more brooding than normal, his facial features showing very little of what was going on in his head while he stared at the screen. He seemed to be upset over something, but his squared face had never divulged what ever could be going on inside his mind, and this time was no exception to that.

Robin was going through a stack of files at her desk, reading ever page in each file very intently. She was squinting by now, as she had been at this task for quite a few hours. With a cup of coffee beside her on the desk, seemed like it would be a very long night for the young craft user.

Michael was at his own station, watching the others at work. He seemed to be looking mainly at the pretty tawny haired girl, watching her with much more that simple interest. He glanced back at his monitor a few times, as it seemed to be loading up a list of some sort, but he always glanced back at the young girl.

Amon turned his head a little in the direction of the computer lad.
“ Have you found anything yet?” Amon said, almost in a growling tone, as if agitated.
“ It seems that little is known on this Kawagi Kanji fellow.” The lad in the glasses murmured back. “ I am just waiting for a wider search to come back.”
“ Does it seem that he is a witch?” Impatiently said Amon, with one of those sighs added in.
“ I am doing up to six degrees of a search right now...” The lad said. “ Nothing is popping up as of yet.”

Robin looked over, hearing the two talking.
“ I have found nothing myself...” She said. “ I am about half way through the files you have given me.”
“ Then you just have to keep on looking, don’t you.” Amon replied very sharply at the young craft-user. “ Keep on going, Girl”
“ Yes, Amon.” Said Robin softly, blinking her tired eyes a little.

Michael frowned, hearing the severely short tone of voice that Amon took with Robin. He glowered at the man with a cold stare, but saw Amon had simply went back to looking at the computer again, almost turning off the fact that they were both in the room. The youth just grunted low in his throat, and went back to his work before his tongue would be obliged to loosen up a little.

After a few minutes, the tall dark haired man stood up and simply walked out of the room. He had not said where he was going or anything close to it, he had simply walked out with the most silent tread like a cat on the prowl. Michael snuffed, glad that the man ad left for the time being.

He looked at Robin , who still had her nose in one file.
“ Why do you let him talk like this to you?” He asked.
“ He is just making us do our job, that’s all...” She replied, her tired green eyes looking at the spiky haired lad.
“ He should not talk to us like that.” He commented. “ Just because this possible Witch had gotten away today.”

Robin took a deep breath, and looked at Michael with a almost pained look on her smooth face.
“ It was my fault that this person got away before we could investigate.” She said. “ I was not ready to stop him... I had forgot my glasses back here too.”

Michael shook his head, obviously disagreeing with the girl.
“ You don’t even know if this man is a Witch...” He said. “ ... You were simply investigating the man for the possibility that he had killed that business owner like that.”
“ We needed to see if he was a witch...” Replied the girl slowly
“ You observe the subject... what was he doing?” Said Michael, snuffing a little with his words
“ Perhaps he was doing it a little differently for a reason...” Robin said, after a second of pausing. “ I was unsure of what to do, and I simply should have asked Amon more questions.”

The girl turned back to her reading, as Michael seemed to have stopped talking. The youth had, but his eyes still fell on the girl.
“ Just because you are seeing the man now...” He said to himself in exasperation. “ Does that give him the right to talk to you like that?”

He wondered why the young crafter had ever hooked up with Amon. It seemed to be so very opposite of each other. How could such a loving, compassionate and totally beautiful girl be involved in a relationship like they were, with such a man. Amon was aloof, brooding and always seemed to be unapproachable by anyone. He was always short with people, and seemed to have almost a air of pretentiousness in the way he did his work

When Amon and Robin had reappeared sometime after the factory’s fall, SOLOMON had opened their arms for them to come back. Robin seemed hesitant to be here, but Amon had somehow convinced her to stay. Soon after, the two became more than just partners or Robin being his charge. It had become much more, and that bothered the computer genius a time or two over the months. The were boyfriend and girlfriend, but something told him that Amon was not quite fully there for the young gal.

The lad shook his head a little, clearing his mind the best he could. He was too close to it all, he told himself. The problem was, he had been feeling things for the young Robin all along, and they were not going away. He wanted to tell the girl just what he was feeling, but it was clear already that Amon had claimed Robin as his own.

The young computer lad just made himself bite his lip, as he knew he had nothing to say with the situation. He pushed his feelings down deep within himself, as he knew that he had to.

He returned to his work, and just left it as that. He fought off the urges to bust into the mix, and tell that man to treat Robin the way she deserved... like he would have, but that would just make the situation much harder on Robin. He did not want that for the girl, as he felt too deeply for her.

Michael sighed and read the stuff that was flashing on his screen now. He needed just to keep his big mouth shut, he kept telling himself over and over again.
