Until Death Do Us Part

I look down at the contract hanging around Rosette's neck. She only has a few hours to live. I promised her that if she died, I'd go with her. I look at her as she looks out up at the sky, and give her a kiss on her lips. She wakes up from her daydreaming and I made sure that whenever she woke up every morning until the end, that she saw me.

"Chrono," she said with a smile. I smile at her again and I hold her close to me. I kiss her again, a little more passionately than the last time. We stayed like this for a bit.

"Rosette, good morning," I said as I hold her closer to me. Her arms wrap around me to bring me closer. "I love you, Rosette."

"I love you, too," she said to me, "Today is our last day together." She looked around and asked me, "Where is the picture that we took at the carnival?"

"Azmaria has it," I told her. She smiles, knowing that the others have something to remember the both of us by.

I doubt that any of the Order of Magdelene will forget us. Rosette was the girl, who's little brother, Joshua, was one of the Apostles captured by Aion. I, being her companion and a devil, was accepted into the Order.

Neither of us will forget the first time we met. That was when I met Rosette and Joshua. After that, Joshua made the promise that the three of us would travel the world as adventurers. I'm sorry that that dream won't come true for us.

The more I stayed by her side, the more I've come to realize how much I really love Rosette. I wish that before we leave this earth, she knows this.

"Chrono?" I heard her call, "Are you alright?"

"Yes, I'm fine. I'm just thinking."

"I'm really going to miss everyone. Azmaria looked up to us."

"I know what you mean," I say as I get closer to her.

Before she could say another word to me. I kiss her again. The kiss was so deep and passionate, I don't realize that I have a hand going up her shirt. I blushed and took my hand away, hoping that she wouldn't get mad at me.

To my surprise, she's not. She blushed and said, "It's okay, Chrono." The next thing I know is that she slips my jacket off of me. I slip her shirt off as we kissed again, this time more passionately, wanting, and needing than before. I let her undo my shirt and tie and I reveal my chest to her. Rosette reaches a hand out to touch me. Her hand feels warm. I reach to undress her completely.

After our clothes fell to the floor, we climb underneath the sheets of our bed. I've never seen Rosette like this before. I touch her breasts as I kiss her. She feels so soft and warm to my touch. When Aion, the others, and I had been trying to gain our freedom, I've been with many women. I didn't love them, but I know that Rosette is different. I love her. I don't wish to hurt her at all.

"Chrono, please... I-I've never been with anyone like this before," she said.

"It's okay. I'll be gentle. If it hurts, stop me, okay?" I asked. She nods her head.

She looks at me and smiles. "The contract will be up in a few minutese," she replied. I smiled and sat next to her. I do wonder. Is she really okay that after tomorrow, neither of us will be alive? She turned to me and said, "If you want, I can use the contract to heal you, so that you can keep living."

"No, Rosette. I made a promise that I would die by your side," I reminded her. She smiles again. We watch the sun set, and I noticed that the tears well up in her eyes.

"I don't want to die! I want to live a little longer!" She cried as the tears fell. I held her in comfort. I knew that there was no way to get the rest of her lifespan back. I kiss her again and reassure her that I would never leave her. It's because I love her. The sun is setting lower. I wipe the tears from her eyes and I hold onto her hand. The both of us watch the sun set, and then, we close our eyes. After tonight, we won't exist here anymore, but we will be together for eternity.
