This is just a short one-shot that my muse has been harassing me to write for the past little while. I hope you like it.

It was mid-morning on Saturday. Yuki and Shigure had just left to go to the main house as Akito had called for them. Kyo had been gone all morning. Tohru sighed in boredom.

‘I really have nothing to do.’ She thought as she roamed from room to room, just tidying things up. ‘Laundry is done; dishes were done right after the meal, than Hatori had called saying that Akito wanted Shigure and Yuki at the main house ASAP. There had been no sign of Kyo since the morning meal, and that was several hours ago. But he is probably at Shishou’s dojo. So I will just have to find something to keep me occupied.’ She thought determinedly.

Tohru ran up to her room to grab a book that Hana-chan had given her to read. She had gotten the book from one of her cousins … somewhere. It was about a girl who traveled through time to meet her soul mate, and fight evil. It was rather amusing to read about their adventures and battles.

She sighed as she set down the book to drink her tea. ‘What would it be like to live such an exciting life?’ she wondered, than snickered quietly. ‘Not that my life isn’t exciting, what with never knowing when Yuki and Kyo would get into another argument and break something. Or when I’ll meet another member of the Zodiac.’ She paused. ‘I guess if I really thought about it, my meeting a family who is possessed by the Zodiac could be considered an adventure as well.’

She sighed again, and picked up her book. ‘But that is my adventure.’ She thought as she got back into her book.

Kyo walked into the house a little before noon. ‘Damn, I really wanted to talk with Shishou today, but he got called away yesterday on important business.’ He sighed and walked into the living room, than stopped right in the doorway at the sight that greeted him.

Tohru was lying on the couch asleep, a book was on the floor in front so he assumed that she had fallen asleep while reading. She was a beautiful vision to him. She was on her back; her long legs encased in black tights stretched right out to the end of the couch. She was wearing a fairly baggy pink shirt that would probably come to mid-thigh, but was currently starting to ride up to her waist. Her hair was flipped over the end of the couch, trailing almost to the floor. One arm was over her eyes, while the other was flung with her hair over the arm of the couch. She was an angel to him.

Kyo slowly approached the sleeping girl and knelt beside her on the floor. He picked up her book and set it on the table behind him. He wanted to hold her so much, but because of this damn curse, he couldn’t get too close!

He gently placed his hand on her stomach to wake her, but she jumped at his unexpected touch, bringing her arm down and catching him in the head, bringing him closer to her stomach.

Tohru jumped almost a mile off the couch at the feel of someone’s hand on her stomach. She brought her arm down quick to see who it was, and caught them in the back of their head, making them crash into her stomach. She oomphed as his face made contact with her unsuspecting tummy, noticing the bright orange hair as he landed.

Kyo couldn’t move. His face was buried in her stomach, and he knew he had one hell of a blush on his cheeks.

“K …Kyo-kun?” She said uncertainly, gently touching his head after she noticed that he wasn’t moving at all. “I’m sorry Kyo-kun. I didn’t realize that you were home, I would have been up to make you some lunch. Umm …are you all right, Kyo-kun? Did I hurt you when I hit you?” She gasped in air at a thought. “Are you conscious? I didn’t knock you out did I?”

“Don’t be ridiculous!” he said into her stomach. Kyo slowly raised his head from her, not looking directly at her. “You just caught me off guard, that’s all.” He said as he got up off the floor and backed up a step. He could still smell her scent, and he could also still feel the vibrations of her voice from when she spoke to him.

Tohru sat up on the couch, swinging her legs to the floor. Her stomach was still tingling from where he had breathed, and from the vibrations of his voice when he spoke to her. “Should I go make us lunch?” she asked as she got unsteadily to her feet. “What would you like?”

Kyo watched her as she walked to the kitchen. He wanted to pull her back to the couch and have her sit there with his head on her lap, stroking his hair. He sighed and followed her into the kitchen to help her with the meal, setting his wants aside. For now.

Tohru had just finished cleaning the dinner dishes; the afternoon mishap was not too far from the front of her mind. She and Kyo had a quiet afternoon. After lunch Kyo had disappeared to either his room or the roof, she wasn’t sure. He had come down for dinner when she called and had helped her with the dishes. But now they were done, and there was an awkward silence between them.

“Kyo, would you like to sit and watch some TV with me?” she asked shyly. “Or is there something else that you have to do? If there is, you don’t …”

“I’ll watch TV with you.” He cut off her tirade.

They both walked into the living room and sat on the couch. Tohru handed him the remote. He turned the tube on and stated to flick through the stations. They came to a movie channel that was playing Pirates of the Caribbean.

“Oh!” exclaimed Tohru. “Uo-chan told me about this movie! It is supposed to be really good. Would you like to watch it Kyo?” she turned to him and asked.

He shrugged, setting the controller between them, and settling in for the movie.

Tohru glanced over at him at the end of the movie. His head was lolling to the side, and he was making a slight purring sound. He really did look uncomfortable. She reached over and gently touched him.

Kyo jumped, looking up at her startled. “Yah, what’s wrong?” he rasped in a sleep filled tone.

“You looked uncomfortable sitting there Kyo-kun, that I thought I would wake you so you could get more comfortable.” She said, pulling her hand back to her lap. “I don’t mind if you would like to go to bed, but I think that I will stay up and watch the next movie coming on. It sounded interesting in the promotion.”

Kyo looked at her with a slightly vacant stare. ‘I am tired enough to go to bed, but I want to spend more time with her before Rat-boy comes back.’ He thought. ‘I wonder …’ “Tohru,” he said quietly.

“Yes.” she answered.

He blushed, looking away. “Never mind.” He said briskly.

Tohru reached over again to touch his knee. “What is it Kyo? Is there something you want?” she asked innocently.

Kyo took a deep breath. “Would you mind if I rested my head in your lap while we watch the movie?” he asked, turning bright red and still not looking at her.

Tohru pulled her hand off him in surprise. That wasn’t a request she thought he would make. She blushed herself. “I …”

“Never mind.” He pulled away, moving to get up from the couch.

“No! Wait Kyo.” She said reaching out to grasp his arm to detain him. He looked back at her. “I … I don’t mind if you rest your head on my lap to watch TV. Please don’t leave.” She implored.

Kyo looked down at her. He didn’t really expect her to accept! “Are you sure it’s alright? I don’t want you to do anything that you aren’t comfortable with.” He ascertained.

“Hai, I don’t mind Kyo. Please, let’s get comfortable before the next movie starts.” She said, and released his arm to scoot back to make room for him.

Kyo looked at her for a moment before he moved to stretch out on the couch. He paused before he lowered his head to her lap, looking her directly in the eyes. “Are you sure?” he questioned once again.

In response, Tohru reached out and grasped the back of his head, gently pulling his head down to her lap. She sighed as he settled in to watch the movie, her fingers stroking through his hair absently.

She smiled to herself as a few minutes later, his breath had evened out, and he was making that purring sound again. “Sleep sweet, Kyo.” She whispered as she continued to watch the movie, still stroking his head softly.

Now that he was asleep she could look her fill without the fear of being caught. It was moments like these that gave her hope……………
