Thunder
Hallo! This is my first story on AFF.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thunder. It always came down to thunder. It didn’t matter if it was thunder produced by nature or by man; it always came down to thunder that preceded a storm of one sort or another.
Tenpou Gensui stood outside, looking up at the gray sky, face upturned to catch the first drops of rain when they came. Another low rumble of the clouds, and then sweet release, starting slowly at first, but gradually increasing to torrential force. Tenpou stood there, enjoying every moment of it. His keen hearing picked up a distant rumbling, growing louder. Doppler Effect indicated that the source of said rumbling was closing in on him. What was the equation that indicated the speed or frequency or whatever it was for the source of a sound moving toward a stationary observer? He had a book on it somewhere. Of course it had been awhile since he’d seen the book…
At long last, the thunderous noise reached its pinnacle and abruptly stopped. Without looking, he addressed his unwelcome companion, “Yes?”
“Gensui, sir, Li Touten-sama wishes to speak with you regarding the behavior of one of your Taishos,” the messenger, a private or something, maybe a lieutenant, it didn’t really matter, snapped to attention and delivered his message quickly and efficiently. It was the mark of good training.
Tenpou, had he been more of an egotistical man, could’ve claimed credit for that fact. He had introduced discipline to the Western Army. Before, it had been even more unruly than the Eastern Army. Now the pressure was on the Eastern Army to develop the same level of control as had been implemented in the Western Army.
As nice as that fact was, it unfortunately meant a lot of board meetings and presentations on Tenpou’s part to assist the Eastern Gensui in bringing his army under control. Those were easy, however, compared to the constant social gatherings he had to attend where he was put on the spot and showered with praise. A simple ‘thank you’ and a pay bonus was all he required. And in a perfect world, he’d get it. He was drawn from his selfish thoughts by a sneeze from the messenger. The man might be catching a cold. Best to advise him to go to the Infirmary once Tenpou acknowledged the message.
“Thank you, Lieutenant Taiyo,” Tenpou applauded his quirky memory. “I will see him shortly. I came out here for inspiration for new foul weather tactics.”
“Ah. Very good, sir. How are they coming along?” Taiyo knew to at least feign interest in his Field Marshal’s job. Tenpou made another mental note that his policy of respect at all times was strongly upheld. More things to consider…
“So far, I have deduced that the military uniforms need to be redesigned to endure unpredictable climatic changes,” Tenpou answered wryly. “Get yourself to the Infirmary for a check up. I can’t have you falling ill under my watch.”
“Yes, sir. Thank you, sir. I shall go immediately after telling Li Touten-sama of your answer to see him,” Taiyo saluted, then hurried off into the rain-induced haze.
Tenpou stayed in the rain a few more minutes before going inside to dry off and change clothes. After that business was attended to, he would go and meet with his least favorite person in all of heaven. As soon as he had crossed the threshold, he dug into his coat pocket and pulled out his plastic bag-protected carton of cigarettes and lighter. He lit up and took a long first drag. However long he’d been outside had been too long to go without a good inhalation of the soothing tar and nicotine. He waited for the narcotic to settle into his system. Then, he walked toward his quarters. Along this particular route, he would pass his public office where all paperwork was delivered, even if he hardly spent any time in that particularly small room. He much preferred the private office that joined his quarters as the front room. But, he should probably stop off at the public one, just to see how much paperwork had accumulated.
He paused in his walk to remove his sandals. His feet had been slipping around in them too much as it was, causing him to nearly roll his ankle on a couple of steps. He tucked the shoes away in a lower pocket of his coat, leaving his hands free to pull out another cigarette. This one he lit with a match, testing whether or not the flavor of the lighter fluid could be detected in the cigarette. It was important research that could very well affect his life forever.
He took a quick puff of the new cigarette, the old one quietly sizzling to its end in one of the puddles formed from the dripping water falling off of Tenpou. This cigarette did taste subtly different. It was like the difference between two glasses of Pinot Chavignon. It all depended on the year and of course, the vineyard that produced it – soil conditions, rainfall conditions, how much sun the vines received throughout the year, the blend of the types of grapes, whether they used oak barrels or not, etc. The cigarette lit with the match tasted richer, smoother… and dare he even say, darker?
Seamlessly, he pulled out another plastic bag from his pocket and removed a pad of paper and a pencil, scribbling down his observations on this matter. He briefly wondered how many people would read a paper on this topic if he wrote one. But then, he reminded himself that that would be a bit of extra work, and he should only consider writing something like that if he had finished all of his other work and if he could safely say the same for pipe tobacco as well. As he finished writing the last of his thoughts, small lakes and rivers were forming in the hallway. A slight breeze passed by him, and he shivered, suddenly recalling that he was soaked. He really couldn’t afford to be out of commission due to self-neglect. He hurried onward.
He turned down a different hall, avoiding the route to his public office altogether. There would be time to get the paperwork later. Knowing his luck, he’d already kept Li-Touten waiting too long as it was, and the man was likely looking for some means of revenge. But, then again, he never said when he’d meet with the man, just that he would. Surely the bureaucrat would understand that military officials did have slightly more pressing matters than to attend to every slight act of disrespect from a subordinate to a government official?
Of course, Tenpou had a fairly good idea about whom it was that Li Touten wanted to talk to him. And that was no slight act of disrespect in most instances. However, he’d deal with that when the time came. To continue with what he had been thinking about regarding the matter of time, the other man should recall that Tenpou often kept to his own schedule. He was always punctual when the situation required it, but if there had been no specific time laid down, one should never expect the field marshal to arrive when everyone else was assembled.
He shivered again. Heaven kept its buildings well air-conditioned. He was officially freezing now. He hurried the rest of the way to his quarters and more private office, which the intelligent people used as his public office. Why leave the comforts of his room when he had a perfectly good desk in that front room? Plus, all of his books were up here.
Outside his door, he fumbled with numb fingers for his keys, admiring the cherry red tip of his slowly dying cigarette as he inhaled again.
Stoplight…
He finally managed to find the correct key and get himself inside. Habitually, he shut and locked the door behind him, not bothering with the light as he entered his quarters fully, not casting a second glance to the front room as he shed his wet coat, hanging it on the rack, for once.
…lock the door.
Don’t look back…
Tenpou balanced on one foot as he peeled off each sock, tossing them to a corner where they landed with a splat on a stack of books. With a scowl, he flicked his wrist, sending the wet clothing to the floor. He rarely used his god powers for such trivial things like that, but he was cold, and he was sure he was going to contract hypothermia and be unable to work for a week. And that would really put a damper on many things in his life. He stumbled around the room as he began the intricate dance that would rid himself of his khaki pants. He’d never thought that they fit him too snugly, for which his lover often lamented, but he was beginning to think that he and his lover had both been wrong about that. They were impossible to slide down his legs, the water making them cling to him rather than acting as a lubricant to slip them away.
Undress in the dark…
“You and I clearly have different concepts of promptness, Gensui,” a gravelly voice uttered from the dark.
Clothed in his tight, and wet, boxer briefs and a half-open, wet and rumbled button-down shirt, pants and tie in a heap two feet away, Tenpou’s hands abruptly stopped their actions of unbuttoning the shirt. He shyly moved to hide his body behind his couch, crouching a little to hide from the view of Li Touten.
…and hide from you,
All of you…
“How’d you get in here?” Tenpou asked in as calm a voice as he could.
“You should take greater care of your belongings, Gensui.” Li Touten held up a book. “Telling one of your little subordinates that I had been instructed by Lord Goujun himself to return this book to you, whether the door was unlocked or not, he was more than happy to procure a spare key for me.”
Tenpou had to admire the cunning of this man, even if he was absolutely despicable. “Well, you’ve returned it. You’ve successfully not lied to my subordinate. I would now kindly ask to meet you in my public office downstairs in a half hour when I have had a chance to dry off and change clothes.”
“You’ve kept me waiting a full fifteen minutes as it is. I think a slight inconvenience on your part is more than called for.”
“A slight inconvenience does not include me conducting a meeting in my undergarments.”
“I didn’t think you were shy around men, Gensui.”
Tenpou had long perfected the art of feigning ignorance. “I don’t usually undress myself around others, Li Touten.”
“I wouldn’t call this a usual circumstance,” Li Touten said with a grin.
Tenpou remained silent for a moment. “Very well. Make yourself comfortable. I will go and put on something more appropriate. I will meet with you in no more than five minutes, since it seems you cannot be delayed.”
“Don’t let my presence inconvenience you. I merely wish to let you know that I know about your relations with Kenren Taisho. And I know about your meddling in affairs that you shouldn’t be, setting that lapdog of yours loose to rile everyone up. I feel I must tell you that should you continue on this path, your beloved general will surely suffer.”
Tenpou lit a cigarette from his spot behind the couch. “If you’re so certain I’m behind it why not punish me?”
“You, my dear Gensui, cover your tracks far too well. Your Taisho, however, does not.”
“Your point? Kenren Taisho has always lived dangerously. That’s his way.”
“Ah, and I take it you would like him to continue living.” Li Touten’s eyes were lit with a dangerous light. Tenpou didn’t like the look in them at all.
“It would be inconvenient for him to die, yes.”
“Then, you’ll agree to my terms or else find Kenren Taisho banished to the Lower World where he will live, die, and be reincarnated with no memory of you, while you remain up here, unchanging, ageless, remembering every intimate moment.”
Tenpou snarled. “I would banish myself first.”
“I thought you’d say that. That’s why, at this very moment, several soldiers from the Eastern Army with… personal business with the good Taisho have him held at the ready to send down to the Lower World at this very moment, beaten, bloody, and weak.”
Tenpou spat his cigarette onto the floor and ground it out with his bare foot, not caring about the burning on his skin. “Your terms?” He asked coldly.
“Allow me the same privileges with your body as the Taisho, and I will turn a blind eye to anything and everything you devise. His disrespect toward government officials will be ignored and unpunished, and your book-thieving from Heaven’s library will go unreported as well.”
Tenpou didn’t miss the way Li Touten’s eyes drank in the sight of his body.
“I’ll give you some time to think about it. I expect an answer, in writing, by tomorrow at 1400 hours.”
And then Li Touten left, shutting the door behind him and leaving no trace that he had been there, except for the returned book. Tenpou felt a surge of revulsion in his stomach. He wanted to burn the book, but it went against the core of his nature. He would just…He turned away from it, shivering. He didn’t know if it was from the cold or from the knowledge that he and Li Touten both knew what he would do. He would do anything to keep Kenren at his side; he was truly that selfish. Besides, if they were going to be banished, they both wanted it to be on their own terms, because they decided to do it.
Still, he wished Kenren was there. Kenren would know what he should do. Kenren would tell him to just let him go, not to let Li Touten win. But with the promise of Kenren never remembering him… Could Tenpou really allow that? It wasn’t so much that he hated the idea for his own sake. But Kenren… Surely that would be a punishment Kenren wouldn’t want? He sighed.
He knew he didn’t dare try and approach Konzen. Konzen was already in danger with Li Touten due to his close involvement with Goku. He sat on his couch, ignoring the fact that he was still wet, still half-dressed. He didn’t trust his legs to get him to the bedroom at the moment. Could he talk to Goujun? No. That would be admitting that he was more involved with things he shouldn’t be than even Goujun suspected.
The worst part was that he knew that due to his own pride and selfish nature, Li Touten had him trapped. He could just imagine the look on the man’s face when he received the consent in writing.
You’ll never know the way your words have haunted me.
I can’t believe you’d ask these things of me (ever and ever)
He smirked to himself. Of course, that didn’t mean he wouldn’t lay out a couple terms of his own. Two could play this blackmail game, after all. And Tenpou knew a lot that Li Touten wouldn’t want the Jade Emperor to know about, especially since he’d been gathering evidence little by little over the years.
You don’t know me (ever and ever)
Now and ever
The next day, at 1350, Tenpou was dressed in his uniform, walking to Li Touten’s office. He had spent much time in writing up his agreement to the terms set forth. He had dutifully relayed his understanding of the terms spoken, putting them in writing so that there were no questions between either of them. He had also included his own terms, which included reserving three nights a week where he was not required to see Li Touten, where he could spend quality time with Kenren. They also included Li Touten’s promise not to involve Goujun, Goku, or Konzen in anything without reason.
1400 hours, Tenpou knocked on the door.
“Come in,” Li Touten’s voice carried through the wood.
Tenpou entered and strode to the desk. He tossed down two copies of the agreement. “There it is. Sign them. I will keep one in my possession as well.”
Li Touten arched an eyebrow, but took the paper in hand. He read it, a pleased
smirk spreading across his face. He finally pulled out a pen and signed his agreement on both copies, pushing one toward Tenpou. Tenpou stepped forward and reached for the paper. Li Touten’s hand clasped around his wrist.
“I think we should seal this agreement in a…fitting manner, don’t you?”
Tenpou tensed. “I have a tactics meeting at 1430. My commanding officer requires my presence.”
“This won’t take long. First, shut the door.”
Tenpou frowned, but did as the other requested. He waited for what Li Touten desired next.
“On your knees, Gensui. I want you to suck me off.”
“You seem to be under the impression that I am the submissive type, Li Touten.”
“Oh? So you don’t drink from your Taisho’s cock like it’s a bottle of fine sake?”
Tenpou growled. “You are in dangerous territory, sir.”
“As are you. I can still issue the command to have your beloved Kenren banished. On your knees, Gensui, or I will consider the agreement void and simply take what I want by force.”
Tenpou slowly lowered himself to his knees. Immediately, Li Touten was in front of him, tunic pulled out of the way and trouser opened for his penis to stick through. Tenpou opened his mouth mechanically. The semi-hard dick of his enemy filled his mouth and began thrusting in and out.
“Gensui,” Li Touten said sharply, yanking on Tenpou’s hair fiercely. “I said ‘suck me off’, not let me fuck your mouth, appealing as that is.”
The brunette Gensui winced but complied, thinking of Kenren. Would Kenren think less of him if he ever found out?
“Uhn… Yes. That’s it. Suck it.”
It didn’t take long for Li Touten’s cock to swell to full arousal. And after that, it didn’t take too much longer for him to release down the Gensui’s throat. Tenpou tried to spit it out, but Li Touten clamped a hand over his mouth and said the name ‘Kenren’. Tenpou swallowed, a hateful look in his eyes as he stared down the man who had the audacity to think that he could control the field marshal of the Western Army.
“That’s a good Gensui. You may go to your meeting now. Kenren Taisho will be there presently.”
Tenpou was on his feet in milliseconds. He was to the door when Li Touten called out to him again.
“Remember, Gensui. You’ve agreed to give yourself to me. Don’t think that I’ll be forgiving should you forget that.”
You belong to me
My snow white queen…
Kenren recovered from his wounds quickly, given Tenpou’s attention and his own natural healing abilities. He’d been surprised by the attack, but he’d been even more shocked when he’d been released after only a day and a half. He figured Tenpou had something to do with it, but if he had, the man wasn’t saying anything. In fact, despite resuming his relationship with Tenpou, he’d never felt more distant from the man. Sure, Tenpou would attack him hungrily when they were together, as if at any moment Kenren would be gone, but they hardly spoke. And when they weren’t screwing, the times they spent together felt tense. Plus Tenpou would often disappear at the oddest hours, only to return looking even more worn out than he’d been when he’d left.
After weeks of this pattern, Kenren couldn’t stand it any longer. He grabbed Tenpou just as the man was about to leave to who-knew-where again.
“Kenren. Please release me. I have somewhere I have to be.”
“You don’t ever care about obligations.”
“Well, maybe I’m trying to change that,” Tenpou looked toward the door anxiously. Li Touten was waiting, and if he didn’t show up soon, Kenren would be gone. Unconsciously, Tenpou gripped Kenren tightly, protectively… possessively.
“Ow. Tenpou. TENPOU!” Kenren shouted. Tenpou blinked and stared at Kenren in confusion. He felt something wet run across his fingers and looked down to see small rivers of blood running from Kenren’s arms. Startled, he let go.
“I’m sorry, Kenren. I don’t know what came over me.”
“Tch. You’re losing it, Tenpou. You’ve been exhausted, tense, and whenever you look at me, it’s like I’m not here or like you’re leaving me,” Kenren reached out to stroke Tenpou’s cheek and paused. “You’re not leaving me are you?”
Tenpou started to tremble and shook his head violently. “NO! No. That’s the last thing on my mind.”
“Then what?”
“Kenren, I can’t tell you.”
“Why?”
“Please, I have to go.”
“Is there someone else?”
“Kenren…”
“There is someone else, isn’t there?! Kami, you’re such a slut. I should’ve realized as much when I first met you. Those pretty boy looks are bound to get you in good with whoever you want. Is it Konzen? Or am I the ‘other man’ in that regard?” Kenren spat, withdrawing his hand.
“Kenren. You don’t understand.”
“Yeah, apparently. Go on then. Go on and see your other lover,” Kenren said heatedly, yanking Tenpou’s labcoat from the coat stand and throwing it at him. The force of his yank sent the entire stand over, spilling Kenren’s and Tenpou’s uniform jackets onto the floor as well as various scarves and an umbrella. “I’ll just get my things. I’ll be gone when you get back.”
Tenpou let the courser fabric of his labcoat hit him in the face. He pulled it on slowly, his heart feeling like it was about to break. Was this what mortals felt on a daily basis? It was truly a wonder how they survived. Still, his wounded pride wouldn’t let him explain or cry at Kenren’s display. He was a bit shocked to hear his voice come out as harshly as it did. “You know nothing about the situation, Taisho.”
And he turned and left the room, wondering what new price he would have to pay to keep Kenren out of Li Touten’s grasp due to this delay.
Kenren couldn’t believe that Tenpou had left like that. He stared at the door for a several minutes. He’d been so sure that Tenpou would stop him, that Tenpou would put his long, pale fingers on his shoulders and start massaging the tense muscles there, that everything would be explained. But Tenpou had gone. He snarled and picked up the stand he’d knocked over. He threw his coat on the couch to snag when he finally had everything he left over here. He picked Tenpou’s up to hang it on the stand for him, otherwise the man would never pick it up until he needed it again. When he picked it up, he shook it out to free some of the dust. A piece of folded paper fluttered to the floor and landed with a soft ‘thwack.’
Curious, Kenren hung the coat and picked up the paper. The paper had been unevenly folded into thirds and he could see a signature at the bottom of the paper. Frowning, he couldn’t stop his hands as they unfolded the paper, even more confused about what Tenpou would be doing with a paper signed by Li Touten. Li Touten and Tenpou weren’t exactly known to get along.
His eyes widened as he read through the entire thing. He felt like a complete ass for his reaction, and then he felt annoyance and anger. He was annoyed, and angry, at Tenpou that he would martyr himself in such a way without, seemingly, consulting anyone. But, first things first, going and reclaiming HIS marshal from Li Touten. He ran from Tenpou’s quarters, his shirt loose and unbuttoned. He knew where Li Touten lived; after all, he’d been to the combo office-quarters suite recently when he’d been attacked and hauled off not too long ago.
Gods and goddesses moved out of his way as he ran. If they didn’t, he ran into them, pushing them aside in his frenzy to stop anything further from happening. Delivering a good solid kick to the door when he finally arrived at his destination, Kenren burst into the room to discover Tenpou chained on a large wooden X, bleeding and bruised. Li Touten was nowhere to be seen at the moment.
“Kenren!” Tenpou gasped when he got his eyes to focus on the blurred form in front of him.
“Shh!” Kenren hissed, running up to Tenpou and working on getting him off the X and into his arms.
“How did—oh no. Kenren, no. You have to leave me here. If you read that, then you understand why…”
“I don’t understand jack shit, Tenpou. But I’m not leaving you here,” Kenren’s voice was stern, but not unkind. He managed to get Tenpou into his arms, the slender brunette staggering weakly as blood flowed into his limbs again.
“Well, well. Isn’t this a touching sight?” Li Touten said coldly from the door to his quarters. “I step out for a moment, and the good Taisho rushes in to save the pretty little Gensui. Really. You two read far too many fairytales if you think you can get away so easily.”
“Li Touten, I swear, I didn’t tell him or ask him to come here. He found out on his own. Please don’t hurt him,” Tenpou said, his voice sounding more panicked and frightened than Kenren had ever heard it. For a brief moment, his vision swam, and he saw a different Tenpou – one with shorter hair – protecting another man – one with crimson locks that fell around his shoulders – from something… A something that had a malicious grin and a murderous gleam in its eyes, something that smelled of the dead. He blinked, and everything was as it should be. Well, not as it should be, but as it was when he spaced out – Tenpou, naked and bleeding, facing down Li Touten holding a cat of nine tails whip of pure energy.
Li Touten sneered and said in a cold tone, “Tenpou Gensui. Our agreement is henceforth null and void. Prepare for me to do as I wish.”
Kenren saw the flick of the wrist and scooped Tenpou into his arms before the whip could fall on either of them. The brunette kicked and struggled, trying to rationalize with Kenren, to get the black-haired man to put him down so that he might reason with Li Touten.
“Fuck that, Tenpou. We’re going to hide. That asshole’s not going to lay a hand on what’s mine any longer.”
Li Touten smiled to himself as he listened to the lovers flee and bicker to themselves. Eventually, he would win. He would find them wherever they were. And one way or another, Kenren would be out of the picture, and Tenpou would be his to do with as he liked for all eternity.
… There’s nowhere to run
So let’s just get it over.
The bureaucrat dipped a finger into the cooling blood from his prey and licked it off. Tenpou belonged with him more than with that brash idiot anyway. They both had such great, conniving minds. Imagine what they could come up with if they worked together. And once he had Tenpou, he’d make SURE the man worked with him, whether he wanted to or not.
Soon, I know you’ll see
You’re just like me…
Kenren took them to the only place he could think of – Konzen’s. Konzen was shocked, to say the least, when he saw them. But he knew better than to ask questions at the moment. He helped Kenren get Tenpou bandaged up, into some spare clothing, and then into a bed. Goku would wonder why Tenpou was there when he woke up come morning, but they would deal with that later. After Konzen found out what Tenpou was doing naked and bleeding.
“All right. What the hell happened?” Konzen said after he’d gotten Kenren away from Tenpou and into his living area.
“I’m not entirely sure,” Kenren answered honestly. “But, here.” He handed Konzen the crumpled paper that he’d stuffed into his pocket before running off to find Tenpou. Konzen took it and read it carefully. He kept his face carefully blank.
“Tch.” Was all he said once he was done. He tossed it back to Kenren.
“Well?”
“Well what? The man’s always been far too impulsive for his own good.”
Kenren felt himself seethe. He went and sat with Tenpou to keep himself from killing the blond ice block. Eventually, Konzen dragged him out of there to eat something so that he didn’t die and stink up the place, and to let Tenpou rest properly.
They ended up letting Tenpou rest for a full day. Goku didn’t even notice Kenren
on the couch when Konzen woke him up and took him out to play in the field for the day. Konzen left Goku there to play on his own, trusting him to return when he was hungry enough. He sat and worked, marveling at how silent Kenren was being. He managed not to yell at the man for smoking, as he always allowed Tenpou that courtesy. It didn’t take long, however, before the sight of Kenren moping got on his nerves.
“If you’re that worried, go and sit with him,” Konzen finally snapped at Kenren.
Kenren jumped, and then nodded at Konzen. He stubbed out his cigarette before going into the room, however. If Tenpou saw or smelled him smoking, he would whine and manipulate his way into getting a cigarette himself when he should be thinking more about recovering than comfort. Kenren stayed in there for hours, hardly even looking up when Goku came in, finally noticing that they were there, and asked him a bunch of questions about why he and Tenpou were there, why Kenren was shaking, why Tenpou looked ill. He didn’t answer. He couldn’t. Eventually, feeling useless got to him, and he got up and went for a walk.
Konzen watched Kenren leave. He breathed a sigh of relief. With Kenren no longer mother-henning Tenpou, he could go in there and interrogate the brunette about what exactly had been done to him. He told Goku to wait in the main room, even giving him permission to fold some of the documents sitting around into origami, just as long as he didn’t disturb him while he talked to Tenpou. Goku agreed, though his eyes betrayed that he knew something important was about to happen, and that he was upset he wouldn’t be part of it.
“Oi. Stop pretending to be asleep.”
Tenpou sighed and rolled over. He looked haggard and tired. Konzen begrudgingly admitted that he’d rather have Tenpou smirking in his seemingly omniscient way than lying there looking defeated.
“I’m a selfish man, Konzen. You know that.”
“Tch. I don’t care about any of the logistics and moralities behind it. I just want to know what he did.”
“There was never any penetration… by him, at least. Other things, sure. But he had yet to do that,” Tenpou kept his voice calm, as if he was merely stating facts about one of his military tactics, rather than something that directly involved his physical and mental well-being.
Konzen nodded. “You’re still an idiot. As if I need you to protect me.”
Tenpou chuckled a bit, then coughed as the pain from the whiplashes across his chest caught up to him. “H-hai, Konzen.” He choked out with a bit of a smile.
Konzen left the room, allowing Tenpou to stare at nothing again. Despite his policy of un-involvement, Konzen felt that he should probably give Goujun a head’s up, since that dolt Kenren probably wasn’t going to until AFTER something even worse had happened. Giving Goku explicit instructions not to let Tenpou out nor to allow anyone inside who wasn’t himself or Kenren, Konzen hurried out of his quarters and made his way to the barracks, hoping to catch the dragon god in a good enough mood that he wouldn’t be eaten.
Goku sat with Tenpou for several hours. He told him about some of the things he’d seen around Heaven recently, and he struggled through reading one of the children’s books aloud that Tenpou had loaned him. Tenpou smiled and laughed where appropriate, even helping him pronounce the words correctly and telling him what different words meant when he didn’t know. But Goku knew that Tenpou wasn’t really paying attention. He had that far-away look that Konzen got when something important and serious, and usually involving a lot of paperwork, happened.
“Ne, Ten-niichan?” He asked hesitantly.
“Hai, Goku?” Tenpou said as soothingly as possible, as if drawn back to the present where he sat with the child. He had to remind himself that it wouldn’t do to make Goku worried, after all, that might count as involving Goku in weird stuff, which Konzen had explicitly told him not to do.
“Why are you so sad?”
Tenpou was startled for a moment, but then remembered what ‘Goku’ meant. Konzen really had named him appropriately. He put on a smile, one to shield his true emotions from view. “I’m not really sad, Goku. I’m just worried that Konzen and Kenren will get themselves into trouble when it’s my fault.”
Goku was about to say something when a knock came at the door. “Maybe that’s Konzen or Ken-niichan with food!” He ran toward the door and opened it a crack, just like Konzen had told him to do.
Tenpou strained his ears to hear what was going on.
“Oh. You’re not Konzen,” Goku said. He made to shut the door.
“You’re Konzen’s charge, aren’t you?” The man on the other side of the door asked. “My son Nataku talks about you all the time. He says you’re his best friend.”
Goku stopped. He looked up at the man. “You’re Nataku’s dad?”
“I am.”
“Oh. I’m Goku. Do you think you could tell Nataku that for me?”
“Why don’t you tell him yourself?”
“They won’t let me in to visit him.”
The stranger smiled. “Yes, he’s been very sick. But he’s well enough to receive visitors now.”
Goku brightened, then hesitated. “I can’t today. I’m supposed to stay here and watch Ten-niichan.”
“I could do that for you.”
“But Konzen said not to let anyone in who’s not him or Ken-niichan.”
“Oh. I see. Well, that’s your choice, of course. Nataku will be training again tomorrow, so I’m afraid you won’t get a chance to see him for a long time if you don’t go today.”
Goku looked torn. “You… you promise not to let Konzen find out?”
“Cross my heart and hope to die.”
“Okay. I’ll be right back,” Goku said before sprinting off toward where he last knew Nataku to be.
Li Touten smiled as he watched the gullible boy run off. Nataku would be hard to track down today – he was in a meeting with the Jade Emperor. He stepped inside and locked the door. It hadn’t taken long to find Tenpou at all, just as he’d figured. He turned around when an ashtray shattered uncomfortably close to his head. He turned and found Tenpou standing there, wearing loose white linen pants, bandaged up all pretty from their last encounter. His green eyes glittered like glassy stones, and his breathing was harsh. His aim was either off or he had intentionally missed. Li Touten knew better than to assume the former.
“Now, now, Gensui. I warned you that I would do what I wanted should our agreement fall to the wayside.”
“Get. Out.” Tenpou ground out.
“An interesting proposal, but one I feel no need to agree to.” Li Touten stalked carefully toward Tenpou. “You should feel honored, Gensui, that I am much more interested in you than in capturing your Taisho again.”
Tenpou stood as tall as he could, readying himself to fight his attacker.
“Planning to fight me?” Li Touten sounded amused.
“Perhaps I am.”
“Let’s see what you can do then.” Li Touten struck swiftly.
Tenpou was barely able to dodge the attack, but he brought his knee up right after to deliver a hindering blow to the other man’s gut. Injured though he was, Tenpou was still trained in the art of fighting while Li Touten was not. The other man wheezed and doubled over. As Tenpou readied himself for the next attack and retaliation, he was unprepared for Li Touten reaching and grabbing him by the leg to send him firmly to the floor. Instinctively, he kicked out with his feet to keep from being pinned, but the sudden impact had knocked the wind from him, and he couldn’t catch his breath long enough to push himself up into a standing position. Li Touten eventually caught his feet and wrestled him down, so that they were both on the floor.
Li Touten backhanded Tenpou and rolled him onto his stomach. Deftly, he bound the Gensui’s hands behind his back and then his ankles to his thighs. Tenpou couldn’t move. And Tenpou was not pleased to discover this fact. He struggled for a bit, and then resorted to the one defense he had left. He screamed.
Li Touten swore as the man’s screams filled the room suddenly. He clamped a hand over his mouth, only to have it bit. He screamed in surprise. Then, with a growl, he undid the belt to his pants. Using all his strength, he shut Tenpou’s mouth, apparently catching the man’s tongue in the process as blood pooled and began to seep out the corners of Tenpou’s mouth as he growled and tried to get free to scream again. Li Touten used his belt to keep Tenpou’s mouth shut, and then, to taunt the man, he leaned in and licked some of the blood off Tenpou’s chin.
Tenpou’s eyes were no longer glass. They were a raging fire that promised an incredible world of hurt as soon as possible. Li Touten had to laugh. It was so cute when puppets thought they were stronger than their masters.
“Calm yourself, Gensui. I could always leave you like this and strike a similar bargain with Kenren Taisho, if you like. I hear he’s wild in the sack.”
Tenpou growled and bucked and wriggled as much as he could.
Li Touten laughed, then pulled down Tenpou’s borrowed pants, admiring the view of pale globes of flesh. He then pulled down his own pants and leaned forward, allowing Tenpou to feel his hardness against him. Tenpou tensed. Without warning, Li Touten thrust as far and as deep as he could into Tenpou. Tenpou screamed as much as he could with his jaw bound shut.
Don’t scream anymore my love
‘cause all I want is you.

A/N: Hope you enjoyed. There will be two more chapters in this story. This is my first published yaoi fanfiction. I will ask for you to be understanding of any errors I've made, but I won't ask for you to necessarily be nice. But don't just go bashing me either, please?!
