How to rent a room
Winter had set in and Kagome had gone home to her warm bed and Sango had returned to her own town to care for her brother. This left Miroku, Inuyasha, and Shippo alone together. Miroku was the only one that had any idea of how to get a room for the night, but was currently fighting with inuyasha and Shippo about the portion of the food he got the previous night and decided now was a good time for them both to learn how to find lodging for themselves.
Miroku “So I got a room tonight how about you two?”
Inuyasha “What you couldn’t think of the other people that are traveling and kicking ass with you?” as Shippo jumped on Inuyasha’s shoulder, causing him to twitch at the sight of the little demon next to his face.
Shippo “Yeah what about us-“ was all he could say before meeting the ground.
Miroku “I’m not helping food mongers, Maybe its time for you to learn to warm yourself for once.”
After lifting his head from the ground Shippo snapped back “Bet I can find a better place then you for the night. Plus I can get Inuyasha a room in the same place as me!”
Miroku smirked “I have to see this. Oh well. *yawn* Time for me to get to where I’m sleeping.” putting great pleasure in that word, Miroku stepped away from the other two leaving them alone with each other.
The rivalry between Inuyasha and Shippo was set aside for the moment as they looked for a place to stay. Never being in this town before helped, but the fact that two demons walking the streets at night didn’t seem too healthy for the townsfolk. Shippo walked up to the first house and knocked to reveal an old woman.
Shippo “Excuse me, can you please help us we need a place to stay for the night, but have no money to pay for it. If you would like we could cook in the morning or do some chores to aid you.”
Old woman “I have kids in here, you think I’ll let demons around them?!” Slamming the door in their faces.
Inuyasha “My turn!”
He walked up to a door kicked it in and began to yell at the people inside. “You’re gonna let us sleep here tonight or I’m gonna kill you!” The people didn’t take this laying down as the father in the house grabbed a pitchfork and charged Inuyasha just to trip right before Inuyasha’s feet.
Shippo “Um… I wouldn’t want to sleep here even if they invited us in with gold and women.” as he looked up to Inuyasha just to see him nod back.
Third house, it was pretty big seemed to have a barn out back and plenty of land. At first knock no one answered. Second knock there was an answer but not from inside the house. It was from behind them.
Man “Can I help you?” the man looked directly at Inuyasha.
Shippo “Yeah we are looking for a room for the night. Can you please assist?”
Still looking at Inuyasha the man replied “That’s a nice trick talking without your lips moving. Hmm. Maybe you are wearing a mask of some sort that doesn’t show your lip movements.”
Shippo “He didn’t say anything, I did!”
The man looked down and there seemed to be a happy look that overflowed him for the second. He was now staring at Shippo. “Why yes, yes I have a room that you can sleep in but you need to help me a little. If that’s alright.” He looked up at Inuyasha. “But you are going to have to sleep in the barn I don’t have enough room for you inside the house.”
Shippo “Yeah I can help out with a couple chores, Why not?”
Inuyasha shrugged his shoulders and jumped into the barn without saying a word.
The man showed Shippo into the house proclaiming that all he wanted was help cleaning the house itself.
Man “So how long has it been since you got a nice place to sleep in?”
Shippo “It’s been sometime now, since we were in Shebii village across the way.”
Man “That’s quite some distance you seem to be tired and dirty. When is the last time you bathed?”
Shippo “Not sure, but when your with Inuyasha its move, move, move. No stopping him anyway anyhow.”
Man “Please I offer you the towns’ spring and I shall wash your clothes.”
Shippo “that sounds great thanks…”
Man “Oh, I’m sorry, I’m Kennoshii. Just call me Shii. And who are you?”
Shippo “ I’m Shippo from the fox tribe.”
Shii “Please, Shippo, follow me to the springs. Lets get you cleaned up.”
About 10 mins away from the house was a spring about the size of a small lake. The water was warm and provided perfect steam to hide the contents of who or what was inside.
