Ch. 1. Love Tested.
The sun was high in the horizon. Even during the wee hours of the morning the heat had begun to take hold on the mansion that now lay in an uproar. The air was still, not a single whisper of a breeze disturbed the grass. Only the sounds of shouting and screaming seemed to shatter the stillness the almost oppressing heat had brought.
"Kaoru, I cannot believe what you’ve done! Do you have any idea the repercussions this will have to the sakuraba family? to aoi?!"
Miyabi Kagurazaki stood there, feet squarely planted in the back yard as she berated a rather ticked off kaoru. Unlike the manager, kaoru's feet were akimbo as he laid sprawled out on the grass. His right hand massaging the cheek that had just been assaulted by miss miyabi's own left hand. His other hand lay clenched at his side, his body quaking every few seconds as he strained to take the wrath he had unwittingly created. Soon the shouts and screams died out as he began to drift into the memories of the event that had just happened a few hours earlier.
“So aoi Chan, where to next?"
kaoru and Aoi were walking through the farmers market as they gathered the things she needed to prepare that nights supper. The morning, and even the day to that point had been completely ordinary. Tina and the others had left earlier that day, saying that they would be back by late afternoon. What the reason was they didn’t exactly say, but kaoru was happy none the less to be able to spend a little bit of a lone time with his fiancée. Granted this fact was still kept a secret, things had gotten a lot more bearable in the months and eventually the years that followed. The sakuraba family was a tough cookie to crack, as the current standings still left a good quarter of the family against the whole arranged marriage between the two.
"Hmmm, I think the only thing I need now is some fresh fish and maybe a few pieces of fruit for desert."
She clapped her hands together and gave that smile that always seemed to cause him to do the same.
"Sounds good, lead the way aoi Chan."
Taking a few moments to gather there bearings and there belongings the two set out to gather, the sounds of the crowd blotting out the quite click of a camera shutter.
Browsing from stand to stand the two went about there ways, pushing politely through the crowd when needed. Stopping suddenly kaoru turned around and blinked.
"Is every thing all right kaoru dear?"
Taking a few moments to reply to aoi's question, kaoru turned back to her.
"Uhh... No, I’m fine... It's nothing."
Taking one more quick look behind him kaoru once again fell in step behind aoi, the feeling that they or at least himself was being watched. The sun hit its zenith and was beginning its journey back to the horizon by the time the two finished there shopping. Caring the groceries in one hand the couple turned a corner towards home, the street they were on a lot less crowded then the ones they had just come from. Smiling at each other Aoi gave a soft blush as she reached out and took Kaoru's free hand into her's. Catching his gaze with her's as he looked over to her, aoi just smiled. Despite the fact that they had been alone the entire day, the fact still remained that they had been so busy that they hadn’t had the time to just take a moment to enjoy the peace and quite of each others company.
"Oh wow..."
Aoi gave a soft gasp as she stopped in the middle of the bridge that they had just been crossing. Looking to where her eye's were, kaoru saw what aoi was looking at. The banks of the small river was lined with wild flowers of all sorts of colors and varieties. bee's buzzed lazily between the flowers as the fish jumped from the waters surface in hopes of catching a meal. Squeezing Kaoru's hand a little tighter, the moment began to over take the two. With the sun glistening over the water, and with just the faintest breeze to waft the smell of the flowers to them Aoi looked up into Kaoru's face. Moments later the two began to lean closer, each persons eye's beginning to close as there lips inched closer and closer to the others. Tilting his head, kaoru could feel Aoi's soft breath caress his cheek, anticipating the feeling of once again capturing her lips. 'kachink kachink'
"Oh what a perfect shot!"
'kachink kachink'. The sound of an automatic camera, and a mans voice just feet away interrupted Aoi and kaoru just moments before they kissed. Stepping back in surprise, kaoru turned to look at the man who was busy snapping pictures of the two.
"My my, that’s no way for a sakuraba heir to act... Tisk Tisk."
The mans lips curled into a crooked smile as the camera continued to clamor away. "Who... Who... Who the hell are you?"
Kaoru winced at his own question, having sounded much more like a plea then a demand.
"Who am I? My my, the real question is who are YOU?"
The lens of the camera zoomed in on kaoru, the man taking a small step side ways in the process.
"Don’t change the question, I asked who you were first!"
Taking a side ways glace back at aoi, kaoru made sure to keep himself between her and this man in front of him.
"Who I am is not important young man, its what I do that matters...."
Clenching his free hand kaoru began to become rather impatient with the man.
"Quit talking in circles and give me a straight answer!"
Clicking his tongue in between the clicks of his own camera the man pulled the camera away from his face long enough to look kaoru in the eye's, something that kaoru regretted when he saw that malevolent twinkle.
"I am from the press young man, the paparazzi you could say. And you, my young man, are going to be my next big scoop! I can see the headlines now. 'Sakuraba family member interloping with a no named commoner!' Yes yes, the story of the century, possibly of the millennia!"
Once again the click of the camera came in rapid fashion as the photographer began to jump back and forth to get shots of Aoi
"Why, why would you do this?"
Aoi's plea was barely audible, her hands clenched together over her heart. with being so naive to the world yet, such evil had escaped her... Until now.
"Why you ask? Why because its my job, its my passion, its why I live!"
Aoi's eye's began to water as kaoru could do nothing but stand there and watch. "How can you say that? How can you possibly have a passion to... to.. to hurt people?"
"How can I? How can I not? Its human nature my dear... Plain and simple."
With out another word the camera was back up and snapping away, kaoru being slow to react to block the camera.
"Stop that right... Agh!"
Having taken a step forward to put himself between aoi and the man once more kaoru slipped off the curb. Lurching sideways, the groceries spilled to the pavement as he fell into the camera man. Both men were knocked to the ground, the camera bouncing twice as the sound of glass accompanied it.
"You assaulted me! Not only that, but you purposely trashed my camera!"
Kaoru stood up, brushing himself off.
"I did not do such a thing!"
Before he knew it the photographer had picked up his camera, a crowd already gathering around the scene.
"Yes you did! Every one here saw it! You attacked me with out provocation, you destroyed my equipment, and every one here saw it! Officer! Officer!"
With camera in tow the camera man took off, yelling at the top of his lungs.
"What... what have I done?"
Kaoru dropped to his knee's, the voices of the gossiping crowd lost upon him. It was only when Aoi Knelt down beside him that he began to come back to his senses. "You didn’t do any thing wrong... He was just a horrible man."
Kaoru shook his head as he stood up.
"No aoi Chan, this is all my fault... Its because of this that... that..."
"No, don’t say things like that! Its all over now, Lets go home kaoru sama..."
Kaoru didn’t have the heart to tell her that this was any thing but over....
Sure enough, not even two hours later the whole fiasco was aired on the news, printed in every major newspaper and even broadcast on the local radio stations. Every one was in an uproar over the sakuraba family scandal and the assault of a reporter who was taking pictures of the bridge for his article. Of course it wasn’t even ten minuets later after that when Miss Miyabi had cornered kaoru out in the back yard.
"Kaoru, I cannot believe what you’ve done! Do you have any idea the repercussions this will have to the sakuraba family? to aoi?!"
Miyabi's voice came pounding back to kaoru stronger then ever.
"Are you even listening to me?!"
Miyabi's question caught him off guard, the laps of time it took gave the manager the answer she wanted.
"Get out, get out, GET OUT!"
The managers voice reached its peak, making sure each word, each syllable was pounded home.
"But... what about...."
"YOU can forget about miss Aoi! You can forget about ever seeing her, you can forget about your engagement to her, you can forget EVERYTHING!"
Kaoru's eye's went wide, not being able to believe what he just heard. After everything they had been though, after all the pain, the fighting, and the struggling to finally get accepted by just aoi Chan’s father alone...
"No... I cannot accept that, I cannot...."
Miyabi once again interrupted his words.
"Cannot what? You have no power in this world, you have no say. Now get out before I call the cops on you..."
Turning on her heels, Miyabi quickly strode away. Quaking with a mixture of anger, sorrow, and fear Kaoru stood up.
"Kao....ru...?"
Upon shaking legs kaoru turned towards the direction of the voice only to see the other three residents standing there, open mouthed in shock. He couldn’t take this, not now, not from them. With clenched fist's he ignored the calls of his name as he bolted away from the girls. With his head hung low, and tears streaming down his cheeks all kaoru could do was run. The thought that maybe if he could run fast enough, that maybe he could escape this pain that had suddenly taken hold of his heart.
Back at the mansion Tina turned to both Mayu and Taeko.
"What ya'll think that was about?"
While unheard and unseen by all, Aoi was in her room. The door locked by miyabi's hand as she cried in despair. She had tried telling miss Miyabi the truth, but she just wouldn’t listen... And in the end she had told Aoi the same thing that she would soon go down and tell kaoru, effectively crushing the girls hopes.
The sun and set and gone, yet the oppressive heat still clinged. Gathering around the living room of the mansion Tina, Mayu, and Taeko sat together to discuss what had happened. Since the fight the three had gone around and gathered what little information they could. Aoi would not, or more like could not leave her room while Miss Miyabi was of no help at all. All they managed to get from her was a scowl and a 'none of your business' talk. Tina sighed, throwing down the local newspaper, this was the only solid thing they had come up with.
"So kaoru was really suppose to marry miss land lord hmm?"
Tina shook her head, still not able to quite believe it.
"But you have to admit, it does make sense with every thing else that’s went on for the last few years... Why none of our love has gotten to Kaoru."
Tina and Taeko nodded at mayo’s words. It did make sense.
"And of course, in light of this...."
Mayu stopped in mid sentence. Something had just clinked in her brain, and she wasn’t about to let it go.
"In light of what Mayu Chan?"
Taeko asked, tilting her head to the side with a questioning look.
"Oh nothing, nothing at all!"
A sweat drop appeared on mayo’s head as she waved her hands in front of her frantically. Tina crossed her arms and gave a soft sight, ignoring the brat that had forced herself into there life’s from way back when.
"Well I think ill head home for the night, take care."
Standing up Mayu left to only Taeko’s good byes.
The full moon did little to hide the gleaming look in mayu's eye's. She hoped that no one else would realize the same thing that she had, or at least not until it was too late for them. Even though kaoru had never returned the affection of any of the girls, none of them had truly released there love for him... And if the real reason was because he loved aoi and they were engaged to marry, and now that if that was ended... It was logical that he could now return at least one of there affections... Hopefully her's if every thing worked out.
But Mayu knew she had to be careful. Kaoru would be in a fragile state, and the last thing she wanted to do was drive him further away, or worse drive him back to Aoi. If she wanted him for her own, she would have to approach this with such speed, such caution that she knew a tremendous task now lay ahead of her. But she was up for the challenge, and this time she would not be denied a second time.

Ok folks. That was just the sample of what may come. But that, my friends, all depends on you the readers. I have some interesting idea’s, but I don’t have a lot of time to Wright So I don’t want to waste my time doing something no one cares about ya know?
Ill work on the second chapter, which will of course contain the scene between kaoru and Mayu... But ill only post it once I get feedback. Cheers!
