Pink Panties
1. Pink Panties
Shuichi’s English had never been the best. So perhaps the mistake was understandable. It was a pure fluke the Shuichi Shindou of Bad Luck and Shoshanna Schaffer of Babi Love were both booked for the popular evening talk show the same night. Popular lead singers for two hit pop groups, the show was a special focusing on the new stars of the music world. The producers of the show were delighted that Shuichi’s famous lover, the popular romantic novelist, Eiri Yuki, had agreed to surprise Shuichi after his performance by joining him for a short interview. It was unusual to have the singers performing without the rest of their bands, but both were singing simple ballads to their own accompaniments—Shuichi on keyboard and Shoshanna on the guitar.
The show was taped live in front of an audience each afternoon and broadcast that night. The crowds for this particular show were immense, and the producers were thrilled at the huge turn out, which was sure to make the news. To those unable to get into the studio for the taping, there was live video feed provided outside the building. Of course, the cameras were rolling on the crowds watching the screens. The show opened with Shoshanna’s performance, and a great deal of nervousness for the show’s staff as Shuichi was late. As soon as he arrived, he was sent quickly to change, led by an assistant, because it was almost time for his performance.
To the assistant’s horror, Shuichi raced ahead of her down the hall into Shoshanna’s dressing room, having misread the English sign on the door. Since he had been carrying a bag with him, the assistant assumed he’d brought his own costume, deciding against using one of the several outfits the show had told the singer they would provide. Rather than embarrass the singer, she simply waited outside the door of the dressing room. When Shuichi emerged in one of the rejected outfits for Shoshanna—a pink cropped top, pink mini, and pink go-go boots all the exact color of his hair—the assistant was too stunned to do anything but point Shuichi on his way to the stage.
The fangirls went wild at the sight of Shuichi in a mini-skirt, screaming so loudly, that it took a while until Shuichi could calm them down. But their excitement made the little singer from Bad Luck exuberant and euphoric, and his performance was truly exceptional. Even Yuki, waiting in the wings, had to admit that Shu was truly shining tonight. And the outfit, so outlandish, was really quite sexy. So sexy that when Yuki walked out from his concealed position to great Shu after his performance, he spread his arms just a little—a sign Shuichi had long since learned that he could get away with leaping all over Yuki without violence or punishment resulting.
And so Eiri Yuki found himself catching his lover, who had hurled himself into his arms and wrapped his legs around the novelist screaming, “Yuki! Yuki! Yuki! You came to see me!” His hands automatically caught at the singer to steady him—and instead of clutching Shu’s sweet ass in a pair of shorts, he found himself holding onto what seemed to be a mass of ruffles.

His Shu was in his arms in front of TV cameras, and his hands were under that ridiculously short skirt on a pair of ruffled panties.
There was absolutely no question of what was to be done.
Eiri Yuki turned about, striding off the stage with Shuichi, heading for his dressing room—the correct dressing room—and immediately locked the door behind them. The people who got in his way, took one look at his face and got out of his way. There an almost murderous ferocity in his looks they would later say. A cameraman chased the novelist and pop star down to the dressing room, and the feed was shown to the crowd outside. They went wild, the fangirls fainting and screaming. The host and Shosanna were left stunned to make jokes about the situation.
And the cameraman remained outside the dressing room, his mike picking up the piercing lungs of Bad Luck’s singer screaming loud enough to be heard almost in the studio, “Yuki! Yes! Yes! Yes! More! Yuki, I love you!”
Of course, eventually the singer emerged—dressed in one of the show’s outfits provided for him--which consisted of leather pants, a silk top, and a flamboyant coat. He rerecord his performance, which was dreamy and romantic, and did the interview—although they could hardly get anything coherent out of the singer, obviously still on cloud nine from, well, that. The show broadcast that night with the “non-skirt” performance, but videos were on the internet and the story covered so widely that Shuichi was invited back for another show to explain his mistake and laugh about the footage—although between K and Tohma, the recording of the singer’s screams was kept off the air—of that show.
As for Eiri Yuki, he remained in Shuichi’s dressing room during the first taping and never went to the studio for the second. As for the outfit that Shuichi had appeared in, it too was never again seen—outside of Yuki and Shu’s apartment that is.
However, much to their neighbor’s annoyance, those pink ruffled panties made fairly regular appearances in the bedroom—which didn’t make for easy sleeping given Shuichi’s lung power. But it was hard to stay mad at the adorable pink-haired singer, particularly when he came to apologize in a pretty pink miniskirt.
