Goodbye, My Love
Neko: Okay, I've recently gotten into this manga - S.A. (aka Special A), and I just love it! A boy madly in love with a girl, a girl too thick headed to notice... ah the drama! Well this is my take on if Hikari had hit her head during the basketball game. So here goes!

The wind rushed out of her lungs, a sense of weightlessness followed, then the peircing pain of her head hitting the floor.
"HIKARI!!!!" Was the last thing she heard before darkness took her.
. . . . . . .
He was too late... he'd missed her by inches... Kei looked at the unconsious girl before him. "Hikari!" He heard Akira scream then the rush of feet as people began closing in. Teachers were there instantly, checking her over.
"She's bleeding from the back of her head," one said.
"We've called for paramedics, they should be here soon," another responded.
Kei was frozen.
He didn't protect the one that was most precious to him... His Hakari was hurt because he wasn't fast enough, smart enough to realize the danger she'd been in. He felt a hand on his shoulder, and turned to see Tadashi smiling sadly.
"Hey, they need you to move," he told him, motioning with his eyes towards the paramedics. Kei nodded dumbly and stood, moving into the crowd.
All around him were whispers of, "Poor Hanazono-san" and "Takashima-san almost had her."
He dimly realized Akira was sobbing into Tadashi's shirt, Jun and Megumi with a hand on either shoulder, Ryu close behind.
"Move aside everyone, we need to get through," a paramedic said, helping to lift the limp girl on a stretcher. He watched as they carried the girl he loved away to their awaiting vehicle.
He'd failed...

Hikari awoke to the sound of beeping and the sight of everything white. She heard someone exclaim next to her, happily calling for a nurse. Brown eyes opened slowly to the brightness of the room, dimly registering the people that surrounded her. She silently listed them off: Akira (crying happily), Tadashi (smiling), the twins Jun and Megumi with Ryu, a light-brown haired man, her mother, her father and older brother. She blinked.
She should know the brown haired man... but no name came to her.
"Oh! Hikari-chan! We were so worried!" Her father cried.
"I'm okay, daddy, but I do have a headache... What happened?" She asked.
"You got pushed during the game," Akira answered. "Kei almost caught you, but you fell and hit your head." Hikari's brow furrowed in confusion.
"I remember the game, and hitting my head, but who's Kei?" She asked. Everyone looked at her in shock.
