Summary: D is hired to save a beautiful young man from the razor sharp clutches of a deadly vampire noble. There are secrets to discover as to why this young man has always been locked up in his room. This story will contain boy love, language, and violence.

Prologue

Once I had the rarest rose
That ever deigned to bloom
Cruel winter chilled the bud
And stole my flower too soon
Oh loneliness
Oh hopelessness
To search the ends of time
For there is in all the world
No greater love than mine

--Annie Lennox, Love Song for a Vampire

The pale moon was shimmering down through the dark clouds in dazzling silver beams. A warm wind, smelling of roses, gently caused his raven black locks to flutter around his beautiful, moth white face like a nest of hissing serpents. His emerald green eyes looked sadly upon his startlingly beautiful reflection in the oval shaped mirror before him on the wall.

He picked up another expensive vase of wild roses and hurled the goddamn thing at the hauntingly beautiful image in the wicked glass. His shattered brilliance gazed back at him with wet green jewels. It was because of these cursed looks that he was always kept behind a locked door. His only companions were his reflection, his shadow, and…

He spun away from the broken image and gasped in shock. There he was, crouching in the open window. Was he real? Had he fallen in love with this handsome figment? He didn’t know. He knew nothing. All he did know was that he desired this dark creature with feelings he didn’t understand. He knew nothing of the outside world and all the wonders it held.

The creature of darkness was handsome and dazzling to his eyes. Crimson lace and silk whispered in the warm, rose scented wind like soft wings.

He could suddenly see his own breath and all the roses in the room were crumbling away to black ash. The silver chain around his neck snapped and the holy cross fell to the marble floor, at his feet.

The man’s voice was deep and it flowed over his skin like cool water. It sparkled in his head like snow under a blood red moon. Oh, it caused his knees to tremble with such want for those large hands to touch him.

“I’ve come to steal you away from this vault.”

A vault? Yes, that’s exactly what this palace was to him. It was a vault. His father and stepmother kept him locked away from the world he so wanted to know and explore. He hated being treated like some priceless bauble that needed to be under constant guard.

This creature of legendary darkness was now standing at the window, smiling at him with such white teeth. He was tall and very powerful. His flawless flesh was like the moon in the night’s dark embrace. Those eyes of his were like molten amber gemstones. His hair floated around his handsome face like burning flames. It contained startling shades of red and orange.

“Come to me, Christian Bell,” the seductive demon purred, holding out a large, smooth, white hand for him to place his in. “Come away with me. I’ll show you all the many wonders this world has to offer at your feet.”

Tears suddenly stung his green eyes. His heart was fluttering like a caged bird. It so longed to escape and fly free with this angel of darkness. It was like this every night.

“I’m afraid, Ash,” he whispered, longing to rush into his powerful arms that could smash all the walls which held him captive. “They will never let me go. She will never let me go. They will come for me.”

“Let them come,” Ash smiled with shimmering red lips that were dewier than flower petals. He could see that his pearly white teeth were very sharp.

“Her power is strong,” he said, letting the tears spill from their emerald prisons. “She will never stop until I fade away like you cause the roses.”

Ash floated towards him on silent feet. Those gorgeous amber eyes held such need, and such want. There was so much passion burning in them. They were like flames waiting to consume all in their blazing furnace.

“Do you love me?” Ash asked him. His voice echoed around him.

“Yes,” Christian said, putting his palms up against that marble hard chest, trying to keep him at bay. “I love you more than anything I know.”

Ash put his large, cold hands over his smaller, warm ones. “Our love is all that matters.”

Emerald gemstones widened when those garnet carved lips took his own. He trembled and moaned when Ash growled like some dangerous beast. It caused his flesh to crawl with even more want.

“Come,” Ash said, releasing his lips. “Let us walk the nights together.”

Christian took a deep breath to clear his head. He gazed around at all he had ever come to know. He suddenly realized that he would slaughter his own soul if it meant he could be with Ash for forever.

“Do it,” he said, resting his head against the vampire’s still chest. “Release me from these thorny vines which bind me.”

“Christian?” An angry, yet concerned voice asked from the large wooden doors. “Who are you speaking to in there? Have you finally gone mad?”

“Save me from these fools who choke me with sorrow and loneliness!” He screamed as wings of crimson night embraced him with such tenderness.

His wish was granted.

Markus Bell and his second wife Elizabeth were in a panic. They had both walked in to see the crimson demon spirit their treasure away into the vast night. All the glass in the room had shattered upon his departure. Oh, the laughter had been terrible. It had been the laughter of Hell. They could still hear him. His voice was like Hellfire, scorching their minds.

The royal guards had been found lifeless and drained in the royal garden. All that had been left of them were their empty skins among the ashes. It was like all their insides had been sucked out by the deadliest of kisses.

Crosses had been bent and shattered to fragments. Even the founts of holy water had been frozen solid. How could he have gotten so powerful?

“Five hundred million,” Markus Bell said, doing his best to remain calm. “Just bring my treasure back to us alive.”

“And what if he has been changed?” The cold voice asked.

“Bring him back to me!” Elizabeth Bell shrieked like a frightening bird. Her blond hair was billowing and yet there was no wind to make it do so.

“You married a sorceress?” The airy voice asked.

“I want my son back, Vampire Hunter,” Markus Bell repeated. “I want my son back before the rise of the Crimson Moon.”

Icy eyes looked upon them. “You’re son’s beauty is…impressive. Did he get it from his mother?”

Elizabeth Bell smacked the arm of her throne and it was like thunder. “That’s the problem! Like her, he’s too beautiful!”

“Vampires admire and jealously hoard beauty,” he said, turning his back to them. “Once again, what if he is no longer…mortal?”

“Look upon me, half-breed,” Elizabeth Bell commanded with lightning in her voice. “I don’t care who you have to bribe, maim, or slaughter. I want him back in that room.”

He chuckled. “If you’re so powerful, why couldn’t you keep him from this noble’s talons?”

Her smoky eyes blazed like a dragon’s.

“Calm yourself, Eliza,” Markus Bell instructed. “You insult our…friend.”

A delicate brow cocked.

“Bring my son home to me,” the king said. “And you’ll be a very wealthy…being.”

Elizabeth Bell hissed. “And if you fail…not even Christ can keep your half damned spirit safe from me.”

“Here is a hundred million,” Markus Bell said, tossing the bag to him. “You’ll have the rest when my son is secure in his room, D.”

D caught the bag and looked at him. “Why do you keep him locked up?”

“You’ll find out,” Elizabeth Bell frowned terribly, “If you fail to bring him back to us by the next Crimson Moon.”

“And if he has been taken,” Markus Bell whispered. “You won’t have to worry about it. None of us will have to worry about it.”

“You’re an idiot,” the voice told him plain enough. “That family is seriously fucked up, D. I mean seriously. All the king’s men and all the king’s horses were sent back to him in one box. They were nothing but empty skins, D.”

“Quiet,” D commanded, walking past the large iron gates like a black shadow.

“But, that kid really is sexy as hell. I’ve never seen such a beautiful face on a boy before.” The voice chuckled. “I bet you’d like to pluck and prick…”

“That is enough,” D hissed, tightening his palm into a fist.

He looked back at the ivory colored palace. What had he gotten himself into? But, this job was five hundred million dollars. How could he refuse?
