Wizard, Thief, Magic, and maybe... Love?
The sun slowly went down. It was no more than fifteen minutes ago the last rays of sunlight bestowed the Earth with a golden kiss, but now, dark blue and purple covered the clouds and still invaded into the small patch of crimson near the horizon.
He has been stalling around for more than an hour already, mentally going over the plan again and again. It wasn’t much of one, lastly he concluded.
It wasn’t the first time that he has done something like this. Most of the elements are still the same from his previous little adventures. He has done this so many times before, he’s lost count of the numbers. And not once has he been caught, and he’s confident that it will stay that way.
And yet, the butterflies in his stomach that always appeared before something went terribly wrong…
He noticed that all the shopkeepers have already started closing up. Fewer traveler were present on the streets, most visitors had their hoods put up that shadows their face from the light. It also became quieter. From not far away, he could hear the flipping of wings of a fleet of birds taking off.
The other edge of the city of Midas, opposite of the Ceres, resembled somewhat of a normal peaceful civilization for most parts of the day. Four or five story buildings were not uncommon in the streets here. The first floor usually opened to the general public as small shops offering a variety of merchandises, and the upper stories inhabited by a renter, usually also the owner of the shop below, and his tenants. But looks can be deceiving. The basements, sometimes going down more depth than the building is raised, hid a darker kind of merchandise and often the deeper secrets that accompany it.
He looked around one last time.
The time has come…
