Chapter 1
It had started with a question.
“Kallen” C.C called from her seat across the mobile headquarters she and the redheaded pilot were lounging about in. They had been supposed to be going through drills with the new Knightmares, but Kallen had finished all of them easily and C.C had simply refused to do them. As a consequence the two girls were alone in the vehicle while Zero made all of the other members sweat even more.
“What?” the Kallen answered shortly from her lying down position on a couch with more than a hint of irritation. She knew that she should try to get along better with the pizza-crazed girl, but in practice she found it impossible.
From the faint disapproving sniff from the emerald haired glutton she gathered that the feeling was mutual.
“Exactly how are you Japanese?”
Anger filled her without hesitation and brought her smoothly onto her feet and into a lunge, fully intending to strangle C.C where she sat. She had fought Japan, lost her brother for it, nearly lost her mother to it, and this witch dared question her heritage! As she came upon the girl however C.C simply smiled and brought a foot up, catching her in the chest. Air forced itself out of her lungs and Kallen collapsed onto the floor coughing and gasping. Getting up C.C casually strode over to her and took her arms captive, waiting for the fiery girl to get her breath back. Taking in great gulps of air Kallen tensed and jerked with both arms, expecting to easily break the hold this lazy girl had her in. Her first hint that C.C’s physique was just as mysterious as her past came when she found the grip far stronger than it should be. In fact she was probably stronger than Kallen herself!
Leaning a bit into her captive C.C continued from where she had been interrupted “I meant, what exactly is it that decides that someone is Japanese?”
Twisting her head and glaring Kallen took in a breath and retorted “You idiot! Let me go!”
“Answer my question first” C.C countered.
Growling Kallen had to admit that she couldn’t break this hold herself, and she really didn’t want Zero to find her embarrassed like this. Calming herself she gave in, an answer was a small price to pay to avoid that “It’s obvious isn’t it? My mother’s Japanese so I’m Japanese. Now let go already!”
“Hmmm” C.C brought her head down to lean on Kallen’s shoulder, making the other girl flinch. This was getting too close for her. “But you’re only half Japanese” the girl shot back “the other half is Britannian isn’t it?”
Putting her strength into her neck, Kallen brought her head down as quickly as she could towards C.C’s. It would hurt but it would also teach this tactless fool some manners. This failed just as swiftly as her earlier attempts as somehow C.C had already moved herself out of the way leaving Kallen with just an aching neck. Growling she decided to continue with the question.
“I decided I was Japanese so I’m Japanese. That’s all there is to it” she replied. It was the truth for her, and anyone who decided anything else would regret it. Smiling slightly C.C released Kallen’s hands and let her rise.
“So in other words, you decided that the Japanese world was better than the Britannian one right?” she asked, careful to mask her excitement. She found it hard to believe that this conversation was going almost exactly as she had planned.
“Yeah” Kallen affirmed, anger starting to fade as she grew more interested in the discussion now “that’s right”
Bringing herself up to her feet C.C smoothed her face into its normal image of boredom. “But how much do you know about Japan?” she queried. Just a bit more and Kallen would think it was her own idea.
The question caught Kallen off guard, this wasn’t an area she was willing to be tested on “I know more than the other kids at school, I’ve heard the others talk about what it was like before and I’ve been learning the kanji” she mumbled, aware that she sounded defensive even to her own ears.
Sitting down C.C continued “That’s not much to have though. You learn about someone’s world by living in it, all you’ve done so far is hear about it”
“Well what more do you expect! We don’t have any time for that. I don’t know if you forgot in your lust for more pizza but we’re fighting a war!” Kallen screamed. There was only so much of this girl that one could take before they lose patience. She really couldn’t understand how Zero had stopped himself from killing her long ago. C.C’s next question almost brought her jaw to the floor in astonishment.
“Then would you like me to teach you some of it?”
Scowling Kallen turned away from the girl, angry with herself for getting involved in this conversation in the first place “What would you know, you aren’t Japanese? What are you anyway? No one has hair like that”
“When I was a bit younger I spent several years dwelling in Kyoto myself. I learned many things there about the Japanese people, including one very special art” C.C continued, ignoring the second question.
“When you were younger? Exactly how old are you then?” she asked, more in a bid for time rather than out of actual interest. If she could really show her something from old Japan, wasn’t it her duty to learn? Britannia was denying her people their own language and most of the adults were too cowardly to try to preserve anything. Someone needed to remember these things so the kids could learn them later. The problem was, it was C.C who was offering.
“You should know better than to ask Kallen” C.C replied as she watched the obvious train of thought go through her head. For someone like Kallen this bait was irresistible, and it had the advantage of a grain of truth in it. By the time C.C was through Kallen would definitely have learned all there was to know about this, although she probably wouldn’t consider teaching it to someone else.
Maybe if I brought Lelouch in on this, she mused to herself I know he’d enjoy her education. Her knowledge of Lelouch’s body had given her a tantalizing conclusion; he enjoyed forcing people who got in his way into submission. Under normal circumstances this simply meant giving an order and having it obeyed, but under the right conditions she was sure that she could tempt him away from his boring self control and see what he was really capable of. Of course she couldn’t provide the right temptation herself, but with this girl she might…
Relaxing back into chair she watched Kallen debate the matter, certain of the outcome. All it needed was one more push.
Internally Kallen was struggling between her desire for this knowledge, whatever it might be and her distrust for C.C. Even disregarding her haughty attitude, tendency to leave pizza boxes strewn over sensitive documents, and lack of any obvious loyalty to the cause or the group, C.C also knew something about Zero she did not: his true name. It wasn’t a matter of jealousy; it was just that as the head of Squad Zero she needed to be aware of any threats to him. She was sure of that.
“On second thought maybe I shouldn’t” C.C said abruptly, her face taking on air of uncertainty.
Angry Kallen loomed over her chair, hands brought down on both sides to prevent escape “What? Just a minute ago you were going on about how important this was. Now you’re changing your mind you pizza hog?” what she had been agonizing over seconds ago was now an absolute necessity, she didn’t have any time for backsliding.
Pushing back the anger from her voice at the less than flattering description of her habits C.C gazed up into Kallen’s eyes with the utmost calm.
“Because Kallen, you don’t seem like a very artful woman. And only the best would get Zero’s approval” she answered easily.
“Zero?” Kallen asked with a hint of urgency “what’s he got to do with this?”
Now letting her smile appear C.C rose out of the chair and forced Kallen to stand back as her face grew close.
“Zero happens to like this sort of thing” she murmured with her breath gliding over Kallen’s skin and watching with interest as a blush started to form “it’s a pity really, if it weren’t for the war he would probably be a master himself”
Kallen’s mind pushed away how unsettling it was to have the other girl this close and seized on that piece of information, something that she and Zero could do together! If she learned as much as she could now then after the war she and Zero could teach it to all Japanese, and they slowly they would get closer.
Annnd I have her C.C thought as she watched Kallen’s eyes gain a new resolution, compared to Marianne this girl really was amusingly easy.
“C.C” Kallen began, doubts pushed away.
“Yes, what is it?” she answered with a feigned lack of unconcern.
“Please” here Kallen stopped herself for a moment. Even if it was for Zero this wasn’t easy to ask.
“Please teach me everything you know about this.”
Turning around to hide her expression C.C gave a resigned sigh “Fine, fine. If you really want to I can try. In this case Kallen, welcome to the art of Shibari.”
It was fortunate for C.C that Kallen couldn’t see her face at the moment, otherwise the expression of wild hunger in her eyes would have sent the naïve girl running.
Considering that it’s been a very long time since I’ve written anything I’d say I’m off to a good start. The formatting isn't the best, but I hate struggling with things like that. Lemony portions will also be uploaded to the Code Geass kink meme, just as soon as I write them (sometime in the next millennia). All reviews are welcome provided that they are too the point and if they are negative provided that they give a decent reason for that.
