I do not own Digimon in any way, shape, or form, and nor am I making one cent, imaginary or otherwise, from this work of fiction.
With that said, this is a little idea that's been bugging me as of late. A what-if spin-off take of Digimon World Dawn/Dusk.

Digimon World DS: Absolute Corruption
What if our hero Tamer, newly inducted into Team Light Fang, encountered a stranger at the very start of his journey that offered the power to defeat his enemies? To become the greatest Tamer in the world? And it wouldn't even cost very much at all... could our hero control the power? Because absolute power... corrupts absolutely.
Prologue: First meetings.
"Hey, there, whats your rush?" the voice was soft yet curious, coming from the seemingly human shaped figure garbed in multiple robes and a deep hood blocking the entry into the tournament buildings doors. "Uhm.. could ya move?" responded the teenager trying to gain entry. He wore pale blue goggles on his forehead, just above a few stray bangs of orange hair. The rest curled easily around the back of his head and down his neck. As was usual since he joined up with Team Light Fang, he wore the simple uniform of red t-shirt and blue cargo-shorts, with a light brown backpack slung over his shoulders in a hurry.
From behind him a few hurriedly selected partners tapped their foots in impatience. "Out of the way already!" snarled a Growlmon. A MegaSeadramon weaved his head back and forth in agitation from behind the Growlmon, and a Coronamon eagerly paced behind them both. The stranger glanced up and allowed his eyes to stare into the Growlmons, a deep ruby red. The courageous champion simply growled at the feeling of a threat arising from the human. "Please, move already! I'm late for my battle!" the teen begged. Chief Glare would be furious if he missed out altogether.
"Oh, that's your rush, huh? Well... excuse me, then, but just how confident are you?" the stranger questioned, still leaning up against the doors. The teen flushed and muttered something almost inaudible. "I see, I see. In that case... good luck. If you need any help... come contact me. I'll be watching." the stranger told the teenager and pushed off from the walls, making sure to brush up against the Growlmon. For a brief instant, the power held within those robes escaped and slammed down into the champion like a tidal wave, leaving his head spinning. By the time he recovered the human, if that was really what he was, had gone. "Come on!" hissed the teen back at him, hurrying inside to the registration desk.
It was a sound defeat. He had managed a victory over the first and second enemies, but when he came up against the champ from Team Night Crow, she pounded him into the ground. The worst of it had been the taunting, however. She kept his MegaSeadramon around until the end, her Digimon team shrugging off any attack that DID happen to hit by luck. Their was little comparison between the twos skills. Chief Julia had to order Sayo to finish things before the battle came to a close, and even then it was dragged out another minute or so. He had never wanted more to sink beneath the surface down to the Digital Worlds core and simply vanish then at that moment. "Sayo is the winner!" the referee concluded afterward.
"I suppose this shows what Light Fang has to recruit these days." Sayo smiled pleasantly as she looked his fallen team and he himself, on his knees, over. "That's enough, Sayo. I'm sure it was simply... inexperience. Or perhaps... you are just more experienced than he. But taunting a defeated foe is unbecoming for the Night Crow Champion." Chief Julia stated, walking down from the stands. Sayo didn't look the least caring as she spun and walked away from her enemy and left through the path leading off to the right. His fellow Light Fang Tamers muttered in disappointment and disapproval from the stands as they filed out. After they were all gone, Chief Glare and his Ophanimon arrived.
"... That, I am afraid, is the worst defeat by a Light Fang member in history. She only had two champions and a rookie, and managed to beat you. I don't like doing this, but for the time being, I'm revoking your Tamer Rank and setting you to Rookies only. Nothing above that until you can fight with a team properly. We still have faith in you, someday you'll be a great Tamer, but its always difficult in the beginning." Glare finished his long speach and patted the teen on the shoulder. "Come on, on your feet. Go get some fresh air, then return to CITY." with that Chief Glare and his main partner digimon turned and left, leaving the teenager as he was. The Growlmon and MegaSeadramon were remote teleported back to the Unions storage of spare partners.
"That was some defeat." the strangers soft voice stated, walking up to stand beside the teen, who was overlooking the edge of the island at the setting sun. "Like I need reminding." he muttered back, closing his eyes in shame. "You know, things like that needn't happen to you." the stranger said. "Oh, yeah? And what can you do about it?? Give me all of your experience in taming?" he said sarcastically. "No, nothing that barbaric. I'd give you Digimon with power. The power to make that female Tamers look like babys by comparison." the stranger stated. The teen turned to look at him seriously. "Whats the catch? People like you never offer anything for free." he demanded.
Even though the strangers face was hidden by the deep shadows of his hood, the teen could almost feel the grin stretching his face. Suddenly they were face to face, and a blue-orange mask appeared from beneath the hood. "Hand me your digivice, Tamer, and I'll give you all the power in the world." A shiver ran down the teenagers spine and he stepped back. From beneath the multiple robes a clawed hand drew out a black device. "Hand me your digivice, Tamer. I'll make you the greatest this world has ever seen." the voice was so soft and silky it made the teenagers doubts slowly fade away... "HEY!" The shout brought him out of his state of mind as Coronamon ran up to his Tamer, staring daggers at the stranger.
"Henh heh, come now, why so wary? Would you like a deal instead? Trade me your partner, then. Hand over the child digimon and I'll grant you two more in his place. Thats more even, isn't it?" the voice had grown even more soft but now it carried a dangerous tone to it. "I.. I..." the teen dropped his head to his hands, eyes closed as he relived the mockery of a battle from before and Sayos harsh words. "H-hey! What are you doing?" Coronamon objected as his Tamer drew out his digivice and handed it over. "Thats better, now. A few tweaks with this..." the black device cut into the digivice like a knife through butter, piercing numerous circuits.
Both Tamer and Digimon fell to their knees. Coronamon groaned in pain while the teen fell even deeper into the mental replay. "There we go." The Coronamon was teleported somewhere else, and after a few moments, two figures appeared behind the teen, hunched over and still as though frozen. The black device was pulled free and the digivice looked just fine, no hole showing where it had been pierced and hacked. A black ring now marked its screen, however. The stranger pressed the digivice into the teens shaking hands and stepped back, turning to leave before pausing once more. "I've granted you the power. But don't blame me if you lose yourself in it. I'll find you if you want.. more." with that, the stranger walked off and, like Coronamon, teleported away.
Once the teen managed to recover, he looked down at his modified digivice. He didn't note the black ring, only the message flashing there. " 'Where are you? Report to CITY!' " he read the message and grimaced. "Awake, are you?" the voice was cool but not unpleasant. He looked over his shoulder and saw the two digimon that now looked back at him. For nearly a minute he couldn't believe his eyes. Then he brought up his menu screen and dived into the Digimon option. "You're really mine..." he said in a whisper, looking up at them. "Obviously." a harsh biting snarl came from the left most. An Arkadimon Rookie crossed his sickles in annoyance. The first voice, belonging to that of a Keramon, tilted its head to the side. "I'd like to see you lose a battle with US backing you, Tamer." the Keramon stated.
"... I hope this isn't a dream. I'm going to cry if I wake up after losing the tournament and you're all just part of my desperation to win." the teenager murmured to himself. "No dream, Tamer. Lets go. We have a lot of work ahead of us to... make you a legend." the Keramon said, pausing to correct its words near the end. He pushed himself up to his feet and approached them. "In case you haven't already been told... I'm a complete novice. I can barely understand how I was picked to join Team--" "Whats your point? You suck dick compared to everyone else? That times over. You won't have to do much of anything now that you've got us." the Arkadimon interrupted sharply. "Just leave the battling to us." Keramon said in a less brutal tone.
"Now, if you want a demonstration of our power... why don't you go challenge that bitch Sayo? I'm sure you want revenge. Just imagine what you can do to her once you win? She'll have to apologize. You can force her. You can make her do whatever you want once shes beaten. Personally I'd be taking a piece of ass like that until she begged you to finish her off!" Arkadimon growled out, sharpening each sickle against one another and grinning darkly at his Tamer. The teen looked slightly repulsed by the idea of fucking her by force, however. "I'm not gonna do that." he stated flatly.
The Keramon glided closer. "You don't have to. Just make her say sorry for all the things she said to you." insisted the viral digimon. He looked a little less resistant to this suggestion. "Yeah... I don't have a problem making her do that, at least!" he said aloud. To himself, however... his thoughts were not so pure. 'Ugh... I shouldn't be thinking of her like this but... now I can't get my mind off... I wouldn't mind having my way with her if she were willing! Perhaps... perhaps just a little retribution for those words... another way of saying sorry...' and just like that, the seed of corruption planted by Arkadimon began to grow. The future of the Digital World would never be the same...
A/N: Wow. I just found this on one of my old CDs from before the system reboot last year. I haven't played the game this year at all so the details of the story will need to be researched online again, but all in all I think I can make the idea work out given the time. As noted by the question marks in the finished area at the start of the work, I have no idea if I even finished this. From the look of the last paragraph I was still in the middle of writing before I saved it to the disk, so it's quite probable the story was intended to go further, but at this time I don't have anything to add to it.
