own neither the Saiyuki fandom nor the characters pertaining to it. I do however own these characters. I am not making any money from this.
Ushi sighed loudly, than almost as suddenly, afterwards inhaled as deeply as possible through his wide flattened nose. His dark eyes flickering momentarily away from his loves intense glower.
“Even if we can’t keep her we have to take her to the next village,” declared Kesuki, those attractive features curled into the most determined look he could muster. It was pretty fierce considering the splotches of blood that stained his pale skin that had yet to be washed off. This had been their main purpose of coming to the river.
“No.” Ushi snapped his voice thick and rough from under usage, the stern tone leaving no room for arguments; to which Kesuki promptly ignored.
“She’ll die out here!” was the rebuttal. The delicate man situating his slender, boney fists on his equally boney hips in a much feminized manor, defiant to a fault.
“I don’t care. We’re not taking the brat!”
Ushi’s right hand shot out to grab his lover’s emaciated wrist in an attempt to drag the smaller one along the thin dirt path. His boyfriend was known for his speed and stealth not his strength so it was easy for Ushi to overpower him. Yet, he had only gotten a few steps further away, Kesuki’s indignant screams echoing into their surroundings, when a small movement caught in his peripheral vision caused him to stop short jerking his love in front of him in a protective manor. What he then saw made him want to sign in frustration again.
The child was standing unsteadily only a few feet behind them, her appearance unnerving the man as he hadn’t even noticed her fallowing them. Some ninja he was starting to become. She looked, if possible, even more pathetic. Her clothing which in such a state were quality made with nicer materials, something rare in such a poor region, and her hair that must have been well kept was now stringy and wet, some places seeming scorched. Bruises were starting to finally form on her adorable face, long thin ones that wrapped around her pudgy cheeks from behind. Something horrific had happened to this child.
“Hey! Go away! You’re not wanted so beat it!”
Ushi had always been intimidating but the small girl just stared quietly back, her head tilting slightly to the side in confusion. The man sighed this time. The child couldn’t even understand his unrefined mandarin. He instead jerked his unoccupied arm in her direction as if to swat her away like a fly. In response the child fell backwards with a wet squish onto her rump as if she had been physically struck by the assassin even though the arm would have been a good four feet above her head. Those impossibly black eyes bore into his, her tiny eyebrows crunching together cutely.
“Come on. We have to do something. We’re not monsters,” muttered Kesuki, one of his hands reaching out to cup his taller lover’s square jaw efficiently snapping the other man from his staring contest with the child.
“We ARE monsters!” roared Ushi in anger. It was an uncommon sight that put Kesuki on guard who quickly dropped his thin hand.
The bigger man stepped back and displayed the thick smudges of blood that still stained his black garb. It was difficult to see, but the vicious liquid shimmered in the dyeing sunlight of that day. The other didn’t comment his eyes instead narrowed to an almost dangerous point.
“If you don’t help that child I will NEVER forgive you.”
The statement seemed to drain Ushi, he sighed and tried once again to convince his love to just leave the brat but it quickly died on his lips as he watched the child waddle on through the space between their bodies, clearly ignoring their presence.
“That little brat,” grumbled the angered ninja, he was about ready to kill the child himself if not for Kesuki’s threat.
She continued on a few feet move before stopping and stumble around to face the two assassins, one tiny hand was thrown in their direction, a podgy finger pointing at Ushi directly. Her chubby, bruised face was pulled into the most endearing glare as her thin mouth open as wide as she could make it.
“AWAY! NOT WANT!!” She screamed. Moments later - as she milked her startling effect for all it was worth - she spun around almost knocking herself off her already unsteady equilibrium and trotted away down the path into the shadows of the growing forest as if nothing had happened.
“We are keeping her,” Kesuki declared, annunciating every word clearly.
This time Ushi didn’t have it in his heart to say no.

I know this didn't have any of the fandom's characters, but it's a prequel to another story. Please review.
