Awakening

~Hello! Here is my first posted story that I have been working on for quite some time.
I didn't want to give away too much in the contents so I will warn when they come up.
Hope you all enjoy it!

Disclaimer: I do not own Trigun (manga or anime) but I wish I did :)

Notes: Point of views (or POV's) will change as to give more depth into characters feelings!
It will be noted before it changes...except right now :p And this takes place after episode 18 in the anime and book one of the Maximum series. The story will have a mix of both worlds.

Pain in my shoulder was the first thing I noticed upon regaining consciousness. I was used to this but sometimes were worse than others. This was one of those times. I heard a noise of the room so I was forced to open my eyes. There was a man sitting across the room staring at me. This man was probably the last man I'd expect to see. The man who had a bounty of $$60,000,000,000 on his head. Spiky, blonde hair and a long, red coat…Vash the Stampede. The man they called “the humanoid typhoon.”

“How ya feelin’ there, little girl?”

That was not something he should have said. “Tell me you did not call me a ‘little girl.’” I growled. “How are you?” he repeated. A sigh escaped my lips as I nodded. “My right shoulder hurts a bit but it’s bearable. Nothing you’ve probably ever felt, Vash the Stampede.” I remarked. He let out an amused laugh. That wasn’t the reaction I expected. A mean a bit of shock would have been nice.

“So you know who I am?”
“Who doesn’t?”
“No surprise.”
“But I’m not every person. I was sent specifically to find you.”

Now his expression was turning more towards what I didn’t want it to be. Vash’s face got even goofier. He grabbed his chin and smiled.

“You’re after my handsome face, huh? No surprise. I do have a reputation as a ‘wonderful womanizer.’”

I gave him a confused look. “He is an idiot just like he said…this man is seriously his brother?!” I thought to myself. I stumbled to my feet and looked him straight in the eyes. Time to make a name for myself.
“I’m a member of the Gung Ho Guns- Reesa the Multi-shot!”

Vash looked at me with a somewhat confused and a hint of concern look. “I’ll show him to give me that look.” I smirked and reached to my thigh. It was then I noticed that my gun was gone and on a chair in the back of the room. My boots were on the floor along with my belt, side packs, and gun holster. Vash still didn’t say anything, just watched my every movement. Wasn’t he going to open fire on me? Or was he really such a conservative person?

“I knew you had a gun but wow, a member of the Gung Ho Guns??? Really?”

I didn’t reply. Technically I was their “lap dog” and not really a member, but he didn’t need to know that.

“You’re such a cutie too…however, you’re not here to kill me, are you?”

I continued my silence at a loss for words. He thought he could see right through me. Did he know who I was to begin with? Was he that confident about being able to handle me? “What’s to stop me from killing you right now?!” I barked. Being underestimated was a pet peeve of mine. “Wouldn’t you have tried already?” Damn I hated being proven wrong. Sadly, he had a point.

“A little cutie like you? No way!”

That ‘little’ part made my blood boil. I was sure as hell not ‘little’ in any way. “I’m not fuckin’ little! I’m twenty years old!.” I shot back, the volume in my voice increasing. “Physically maybe.” He commented. “In every way, you asshole!” I took a step towards him. At that moment, right before I was about to make a leap for my gun, another familiar figure came through the door. The man was commonly known as “Chapel” amongst the Gung Ho Guns but to the kids at his orphanage, friends, and me- Nicholas D. Wolfwood. Now he was the last person I expected to see.

*Wolfwood’s POV*

Now this was an interesting situation. I had heard that Spiky had discovered a girl passed out near the restaurant but I never imagined that it would be a figure from my past. Reesa’s shoulder length, borderline black hair was as soft looking as ever had been. Her one cerulean eye and her other emerald eye told me that she was shocked to see me as well. She wasn’t armed but that in no way meant she wasn’t dangerous.

“Well isn’t this interesting.”

“Mornin’, Wolfwood.” Vash smiled. I nodded at Vash’s greeting and then turned to the silent Reesa. “Too good to say ‘hello,’ Ree?” I smirked. ‘Ree’ was my nickname for her. I made it up when she visited my orphanage with me. Some of the younger kids couldn’t say ‘Reesa’ so they just said ‘Ree.’ It became a habit I suppose. I heard her exhale before saying anything. “Fancy seeing you here, Nick.” She smirked. There was the Ree I knew and loved. She was using her amused, cool tone. “Wherever the Lord sends me. And currently the Lord is having me guard this spiky ass.” I pointed at Vash who laughed. “Sounds like a chore.” She sauntered over to me. I smiled as I looked her over. Certain parts of her were bigger than I remembered. “So you guys know each other. Isn’t she a little young? Was she one of the kids in your orphanage?” Vash asked. My initial response was gonna be ‘not the best words, Vash’ but Reesa acted upon my thoughts.

“Ha ha ha! No, I wasn’t his orphan! And stop sayin’ I’m ‘little.’ I’m 20! An adult! You have any idea how much shit I have done in my life? Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll baby! Based off of that shit, I’m everything but little.”

Vash’s eyes reflected a look I had seen him give many people. It was a look of sympathy. Maybe Vash knew her past and then again maybe he didn’t. I knew why all of that had started at such a young age, but I wouldn’t say anything to push the issue either way. It was her choice if she wanted to tell him.

“Must have been through a lot…poor girl.”
“Shut up! The last thing I want is your sympathy!”

Reesa turned back to me and looked at me straight in the eyes. “What?” I asked her. “I owe you something.” She smirked. My mind told me that she was gonna kiss me. I closed my eyes and puckered my lips.

SLAP!

My cheek hurt. I opened my eyes just in time to see Reesa going outside. “That looked like it hurt.” Vash commented, “So who is she?”I sighed, holding my throbbing cheek.

“She’s…my ex.”

************************************

*Reesa’s POV*

“Fuckin prick.” I muttered as I sat on the branch of the nearby tree. It was annoying that I had to climb up the tree without my shoes. “Why is my face so hot?” I wondered. I soon figured that I was blushing from being so close to Nick’s warm lips after all these years. My mind started to replaying past times spent near those warm lips and where they had been on my body. I could feel the area in between my legs begin to react to my thoughts. “Stop it.” I cursed mentally, “There shall be none of that.” Though it dawned on me that it wouldn’t be such a bad thing, but still I didn’t need any distractions.

“Reesa!”

I looked down to see Vash looking up at me holding my shoes. “I think you need these.” He smiled. I let myself fall off the branch so the only things holding me to the branch were my legs. I must have looked like a monkey. I felt like one too because everything was upside down. “Thank you…” I said, waiting for him to hand me my shoes.

~GURGLE!!~

My face turned pink and not because of the blood rushing to my head. I couldn’t help it. I was hungry. “Someone sounds like they could use something in their tummy.” He smiled and poked my stomach, causing me to touch the spot where he had touched me. There was something seriously strange about him…really strange. “I’ll get you something to eat. Come on down!” Vash opened his arms as if he wanted to catch me. “You’re seriously gonna catch me instead of letting me put my shoes on and climbing down?” I raised an eyebrow at him. He nodded. Why I trusted him…I had no clue. I let my legs loosen and I felt myself fall into Vash’s embrace. He placed me on the ground and gently smiled at me.

There was no way he and Knives could be brothers….in heaven or in hell.
