Soar in the Sky

This particular story was written in response to femmeslash's 10,000 Lilies Porn Battle on Livejournal. Pairing was Aaeru/Neviril and the prompt was simply: cockpit.

Aaeru guided the craft with ease through the clear sky. Nothing made her happier than flying, and though she and Neviril had seen many skies together, nothing would change how she felt. The freedom would envelope her soul and if she closed her eyes, she could picture herself flying, free of craft. Neviril would be beside her, holding her hand. She’d lead Neviril through the sky, their sky. It was a pleasant daydream.

“Aaeru?”

Neviril’s voice stirred her from dreaming and she opened her eyes. “Hmm?” Her hands rested lightly on the controls, keeping the Simoun going at a steady speed. There was no rush to be anywhere. They had all the time they needed.

“The sun should be setting soon. Would you like to see the sunset?”

“Sure!” She grinned. “Do you want me to take us down? I’m sure there’s a good spot somewhere on those cliffs.” She looked further ahead, noticing the high rock cliffs along the shoreline. It was a perfect high vantage point to view a sunset from. She began to direct the Simoun toward them.

“No, I’d like to watch it in the sky. Come up here with me.”

Aaeru was confused, and her face showed it. However, Neviril couldn’t see her face. She turned the craft away from the cliffs and toward the sunset. “But there’s not enough room for two in your cockpit.” They’d never tried to fit both of themselves into one cockpit, but Aaeru could see how much space one person took up. How would they ever manage two?

“There is, if we do it correctly.”

“Are you sure?” Aaeru found Neviril’s request odd. She wasn’t sure how it would work, but Neviril seemed confident that they could make it work.

“Yes.” Neviril’s reply was certain and confident.

Shrugging her shoulders, Aaeru opened the hatch. She felt the cool breeze blow against her and turned around, looking up at Neviril’s sagitta cockpit. Neviril herself had opened her own hatch, and waited expectantly for Aaeru to join her. Carefully, Aaeru began her short climb, maneuvering her body over the Simoun gem. If she slipped or misplaced her hand, she knew she’d fall to her death. However, had no doubts in her skill. As she gripped the edges of the cockpit, Neviril reached out to support her, helping to pull her forward.

Aaeru gingerly pulled her feet into the Simoun. Neviril had sat back in her seat, and she pulled Aaeru to lay against her chest. Aaeru rested her head there before she turned herself over. It was a tight fit, but not very uncomfortable. Neviril wrapped her arms around her waist.

The sky slowly became streaked in colors. Pinks, purples, and burning oranges streaked together. It was as though a fire had broken out, flames leading toward the final glory of the ball of fire for the day. Aaeru felt Neviril’s lips against the top of her head and she smiled. Love was something that she was glad she’d learned about. The feelings that always drifted to the surface with Neviril made her stomach dance and her heart soar. Her heart would fly too, just like the Simoun.

Vaguely, she was aware of Neviril’s fingers running across her stomach. In the time they’d been together, they’d had to find other clothing besides their Sibylla dresses. She had come across an orange t-shirt and tan cargo pants that were comfortable, and perfect for flying. The pockets made it easy for her to tuck away trinkets and anything else that would provide information about the worlds they visited. Neviril had changed into a plain blue dress, and it always reminded Aaeru of the day they first met on the Arcus Prima. It had a white collar, and sleeves that rolled back to match.

Neviril’s fingers danced across her stomach, stirring more emotions within Neviril. The fingers traced random lines and patterns, making her skin jump. She felt warmer, and her skin felt as though it was responding to every touch as Neviril’s fingers moved higher, resting beneath her breast. A small gasp escaped her lips as one of Neviril’s fingers moved across her nipple. “Neviril,” she whispered breathlessly.

“Shh…” replied Neviril. “Just watch the sunset.”

“O-okay,” replied Aaeru shakily as Neviril’s fingers continued their ministrations, rubbing and massaging the small pink nub. She let her eyes watch the colors move in the sky, and felt the humming of the helical motors beneath her.

Within moments, Neviril’s other hand moved from her stomach, slipping beneath the band of her pants. Aaeru found it hard to focus on the sunset with Neviril’s hand making circles. She closed her eyes and then opened them again, noticing the colors were blurring and blending together. Neviril’s hand slipped lower and ohhh… She groaned, knowing where the fingers would head to next. Her body expected it, wanted it, craved it.

Her eyes closed, as the fingers slipped in the wet heat, finding her sensitive spots, the spots that only Neviril could locate on her body. Back and forth and then she was squirming beneath Neviril’s fingers as they dipped inside of her. Her body was no longer in her control. Neviril was able to control her movement, making her move as she wished. Her eyes focused on one point of the sunset. The pressure inside her began to build, as though she were beating her wings to gain altitude. Suddenly, the colors flashed before her eyes and then she saw blackness, flashes dancing behind her eyelids. Her wings spread, and she was off. She reached out for Neviril, but couldn’t find her beside her. Her flight stopped short, and she came back down to the ground. It wasn’t right. No, it was never right to be in the sky without Neviril.

When she opened her eyes, she found herself panting. She couldn’t recall when it had happened, but she felt sticky and suddenly tired. She tilted her head upward. Lips touched hers, and she kissed Neviril, savoring the way their lips seemed to meld together. Neviril pulled away and looked at her in a way Aaeru often saw after they made love, as Neviril would call it. She lay back against Neviril’s chest, looking into the sky as the last rays of sun disappeared from the sky and darkness began to surround the land.

“Neviril…” she called softly.

“Yes, Aaeru?”

“You’ve never done that before, not here.”

“I know I haven’t. I wanted to watch our sky in a different way and I wanted to watch you soar in it.”

“I can’t soar in the sky without you. It’s our sky, not mine,” replied Aaeru, turning herself around carefully. She faced Neviril, and grinned, leaning in to kiss her. “I need you to soar too.”
