Tangles
After reading norodenn's recent drabble, "Morning Routine", I was possessed by this urge to expand it and write it in fic form. I got her permission to do so, and this is the fic that resulted. I was able to do it in one night, which is rare these days. I hope it lives up to the original.

Neviril sat at the vanity, brushing her hair. She had been grateful to the villagers for letting the two of them have a cabin, though both girls were quite happy to sleep outside. However, after Aaeru had mentioned them being Simoun Sibyllae, they had perked up. Apparently, they hadn’t been the first Sibyllae to visit, and each time, the villagers had found they had been blessed by Tempus Spatium after their departure. They loved and revered any Sibyllae who visited, and no matter how much she and Aaeru protested, they would take no other answer than “yes.”
Looking over to the bed, she saw that Aaeru was still sleeping, curled into the warm spot she had vacated. It appeared that it would be one of those mornings, the kind where Aaeru would sleep until someone woke her up. Neviril smiled, thinking of the reaction she would receive when she nudged the girl into consciousness. She turned back to the mirror and set the brush down. There was no use putting it off.
She padded across the floor, trying to be quiet, despite the fact that she was going to wake the sleeping girl. Perhaps it was the thrill of seeing Aaeru’s eyes open slowly and then focus on her as she spoke nearly incoherently. It just wouldn’t be the same if a sudden loud noise woke her instead. She sat on the side of the bed and leaned over, resting her hand gently on Aaeru’s shoulder. She shook her softly. “Aaeru? Aaeru, it’s time to wake up,” she called.
Aaeru groaned, moving her arm to cover her face. Neviril suppressed a giggle and continued to shake her. Aaeru soon opened her eyes, squinting. “Wuzit?”
“Time to wake up,” repeated Neviril. “You’ve slept in again.”
“Oh… right…” Aaeru closed her eyes again, trying to escape having to get up.
Neviril leaned over and kissed her lightly on the lips. “You can’t go back to sleep now. I know you’re only pretending.”
Squeezing her eyes tighter, Aaeru replied cheekily, “I can try though!”
“Up with you. I think the villagers wanted us to bless the children today.” She turned and went to the dresser they shared, sorting through her few choices of outfits. She heard Aaeru sit up behind her, and turned, only to catch the girl rubbing her eyes sleepily. She still didn’t appear quite awake. She watched as Aaeru began parting her hair with her fingers.
“Your hair’s a mess. Why don’t you comb it out? It would make it easier to put up,” suggested Neviril.
“I will, I will. Just parting it first.”
“You don’t even have a mirror to look at. You’re only going to create more tangles that way.”
Aaeru looked over at her. “It’s how I do it every morning before I put it up.”
“How come I didn’t see it before?”
“I don’t know.” Aaeru shrugged. She thought for a moment. “I’ll show you how I do it though if you brush it for me.” She grinned.
Neviril nodded before moving to the vanity to pick up the brush she had used just moments before. She moved to the bed and sat behind Aaeru as Aaeru scooted forward. She reached out, spreading the hair over Aaeru’s backside. It was soft and fine. She picked up the brush and began running through the strands, working through each tiny tangle. She made sure she was careful not to pull or tug too much.
“Are you sure we were to perform the blessings today?”
“I know it’s not something you’re comfortable with, but—“
“No, it’s all right. Are you sure we had to do it right away this morning?”
“Well, I don’t think so. They weren’t very specific. Why do you ask?” She smoothed the section she’d just finished untangling and started on the last section.
“No reason. I was just curious.” She grinned to herself, something Neviril couldn’t see. “Are you almost finished?”
“Just about. It wasn’t too badly tangled this time.” She was working on a particularly difficult knot. “There. I think that’s the last of them.” She let her fingers drift through the strands one last time. “Now will you show me?”
Aaeru turned around and leaned up, kissing her. “Later,” she whispered. She pushed Neviril gently back onto the bed, looking down at her.
“Aaeru, what….” Neviril wasn’t sure what to think.
“Let’s tangle them up again,” replied Aaeru with a grin. Before Neviril could protest, she kissed her firmly.
Neviril closed her eyes. There was something about kissing Aaeru like this that was making her warm inside. Briefly, she wondered if Aaeru had planned this all along, but then she realized it didn’t matter to her. Aaeru slipped her hand beneath Neviril’s nightgown, and that was when Neviril began to find it hard to think coherently.
Aaeru moved her nightgown higher, kissing the skin of Neviril’s stomach with every inch that was revealed. She was delighted to discover that Neviril hadn’t worn a bra beneath the garment. Her mouth and fingers immediately set to work, feeling Neviril squirm beneath her. By now she knew her lover’s body well and knew exactly what would spark a reaction.
With shaky fingers, Neviril pulled on Aaeru’s nightgown. “Off,” she whispered.
Lifting her head, Aaeru quickly pulled off her nightgown, tossing it onto the floor. “If I have to, you have to.” She helped Neviril get rid of her own garment and tossed it away as well. She lowered herself onto Neviril, enjoying the feeling of warm, flushed skin against her own. She kissed her way down Neviril’s stomach, coming to rest just above the one spot that she knew would arouse Neviril most.
She gasped as Aaeru’s fingers slipped inside, coaxing her. It felt so different this time and she couldn’t explain why. Aaeru continued her ministrations, slowly moving up Neviril’s body. She pulled Neviril into a kiss as she continued thrusting, feeling Neviril put all her energy into the kiss. Her love squirmed, and she knew that this was a sign she was close.
The pleasure became too great and she pulled away from Aaeru, burying her face in the girl’s neck. Aaeru held on to Neviril, her fingers still at work. She slowly pulled away, until both of her arms held Neviril close. Together they laid silently, basking in the afterglow.
Neviril found she was quite relaxed and at ease. She was certain that if they stayed in bed for the rest of the day, it would be all right. She still couldn’t understand why things felt so different than before. Perhaps… perhaps…
“Hey Neviril?”
“Hmm?” She wasn’t sure where she had been going with that line of thought.
“Brush my hair again?”
