*Responding to L E Conway's challenge. And while I consider Heinkel to be a nun, in light of his chapter she is a he...sort of. Male body but not necessarily a male mind! I've made him a little softer, more perceptive, more "female" in mind, if you will. But this was done on the spur of the moment with no proofreading or rewriting, so it might not have come across that way! It started out on fanfiction.net but was more adult than my other writing, so I moved it here instead.
Teamwork
The level of anger in the tiny body of the helicopter was nearly palpable. The Round Table, Queen, Vatican, and even the Pope himself had declared that the two organizations were to stop their incessant fighting and work together.
Or else.
As Paladin Anderson and Alucard were the main source of problems, no one was stupid enough to send the two of them out together. But Seras...Seras might be able to work with one of the Iscariots. And while Yumi/Yumiko was...unpredictable...Heinkel was highly predictable. And reliable.
And so here they were, traveling via one of Hellsing's helicopters to Ireland. It was decided that this was the LEAST controversial country to be used as a testing ground for this new relationship. After all, it was near enough to Britain to be a source of worry, and Northern Ireland was also at risk, so Hellsing was willing to be involved. It was far from Iscariot, but a very Catholic country, and so Iscariot had an interest, too.
Seras just hoped it wouldn't be a repeat of Badrick. Heinkel was hoping he'd either have a chance to off the female vampire himself or see her killed in the fight. But for now, they were stuck together on a helicopter on a very long flight to the northern section of Ireland, nearly in North Ireland itself.
It wasn't long after they had lifted off that Seras, looking a bit glassy-eyed and wobbly, mumbled an excuse and crawled into her coffin. Heinkel hadn't been happy about hauling the box along, but it had its uses; he didn't have to look at the damned monster any more. A glance out the window showed that they were crossing the Irish Sea already; no wonder the vampire wasn't feeling well. It was not a kind smirk that Heinkel directed at the coffin.
But even this respite couldn't last forever. Not long after they returned to solid land, Seras crept out of the coffin. She didn't say much, just stumbled the short distance to the metal cooler strapped to the side of the copter, and pulled out a blood packet.
Heinkel watched in curiousity; bagged blood? The blood should, by rights, be going to a medical patient. It bothered him that the vampire was consuming what should be used to save a life...but bagged blood? The Hellsing vampires didn't bite people? He'd always assumed that Hellsing let them hunt...but Seras was undeniably finishing off the contents of what was clearly a bag of donated blood.
She looked up at that point and saw the expression on Heinkel's face...and misinterpreted it as confusion over her own expression. "It tastes bad. Master says that fresh blood tastes wonderful, and I usually heat it up a little in the microwave. But it's old, and cold, and the anti-clotting chemicals give it a terrible taste." A slight shrug. "But it beats starving." She returned to her seat, curling up, still apparently recovering from the ocean crossing. As her eyes drooped shut, Heinkel found himself considering her in a slightly different light.
In her camo-colored pants and black top, her hair touseled and her eyes closed, she just didn't look...deadly. And if she was willingly drinking bagged blood and not trying to seduce him or the pilot or the navigator...maybe this could work out. She wouldn't be as terrible to work with as he'd expected. But he'd still rather have Yumi there.

The helicopter had dropped them off a bit more than a mile from their target, then flown off to the closest town. Heinkel had worried a bit, but Seras seemed unconcerned. She simply picked up her gun (was that one of Alucard's guns? It was an enormous handgun!) and slung the container of ammunition over her shoulder, then began walking. Heinkel adjusted the belts and holsters for his own weapon, and began to follow after her.
"Why isn't the helicopter waiting?" He was turning over a variety of ideas, including betrayal, in his own mind, but Seras's look of surprise quickly banished them. But Heinkel had felt the need to ask...he'd already assumed the worst about Seras, and found out he was wrong. Maybe there was a legitimate reason for this, and they were not abandoned, he was not being set up?
"They're humans, and pilots, not regular hunters. It's too dangerous to leave them on the ground near a known vampire. We always send the support pilots and drivers away from the danger zone. He'll be back slightly before dawn, earlier if I contact him before then."
"Contact him?" Was the vampire telepathic? Was the pilot a thrall to be summoned?
"They didn't give you a...oh!" With a flustered look, Seras stopped, digging about in her pocket and then handing over a small black object. It took only a minute to identify it as a sort of cell phone/walkie-talkie. "I meant to give that to you on the helicopter, but we were over the water before I remembered, and after that I was distracted." She gave the definite impression that if she could, she'd be blushing. "It has a GPS device in it. When you are ready to leave, just hold down the button and call for pickup. Pushing it three times, quickly, signals an emergency. If things go pear-shaped, send the emergency signal and stick it in a pocket so you can be located."
Seras then hefted her ammo box back off the ground, and continued walking. She hadn't said why she was distracted, and Heinkel followed after, thinking quiet thoughts of his own. Too bad she was an evil monster; she seemed to have a decent personality, not yet entirely warped by evil. And he noticed, whether he wanted to or not, a very shapely body. The thick black shirt and standard uniform pants couldn't conceal it, and as he trailed behind her, he was happy to let her lead. Dark though it might be, he was still able to enjoy the view.
He got to see the real monster that she was during the hunt. They'd found the small pack of vampires; an adult female, a few of her offspring, and a few of their offspring as well. None were very powerful, and the second generation of them, no matter how long they lived, would never pose a real threat. A vampire still bound to its master would produce only the weakest of offspring.
But those offspring were still useful as distractions, and Heinkel and Seras both made the mistake of dismissing them as threats while they went after the real vampires. Seras's eyes changed from a sweet blue to a red as she fired on the vampires, Heinkel's own lips stretched in a predatory grin. She was in her element, rejoicing in the blood that sprayed across her, and Heinkel paused in his shooting to admire the monster before him. He wanted to kill her, destroy her, but the elemental purity of her predatory nature and love of destruction was a beautiful thing in and of itself.
And while he watched Seras and while Seras indulged in a bit of mayhem, one of those weaklings that he'd dismissed nearly bit him. It was only due to some finely developed instincts that he was able to flinch away in time, the teeth tearing at his sleeve but leaving the skin of his upper arm undamaged. Thrown off-balance, he was fighting to bring his gun back around, aware that a vampire, even weak and young, was far far faster, feeling Death at his throat...
And a blur of black ripped into the vampire. That enraged roar...was Seras? Gun forgotten, she was ripping the weaker vampire into bits, leaving him as a cloud of ash as she whipped her head about, snarling, looking for other targets. One vampire was left, racing away and already far down the road.
Within moments, its blood was arcing into the sky and coating the grass, and Seras's teeth were buried in its neck. They might be fast, but this was the hellspawn of Alucard himself, and the fleeing vampire had never stood the slightest chance.
And as she returned, blood lust dancing in her eyes, Heinkel knew that he didn't, either.
But she surprised him. As she got closer and closer, her walk became less of a sultry prowl and more of a hurried stride. The red in her eyes faded down to the same bright blue he'd seen on the trip over, and with a gulp he let the hand holding his gun relax. He hadn't even realized he'd pointed it at her.
He was still dazed from his near-death. No virgin, though hardly experienced, he'd been faced with the awful truth that he'd nearly been ghouled, and it was slowly sinking into his mind. Shaking, the gun dropped from his hands, but the graceful and impossibly fast monster had caught it before it could hit the ground. Giving him an undreadable look, she engaged the safety before carefully locking it into his holster. The other gun remained in his hand, and she gently guided it to its holster as well, carefully prying his fingers away from the grip.
"I should call the copter...but I suspect you would like to regain your composure before they arrive." Dazed, Heinkel focused on her, then nodded. He had his pride. Kind of her to consider that. Settling the box down onto the ground, she pulled Heinkel gently after her, sitting down in the soft grass on the verge of the road and pulling him down to sit beside her.
Heinkel lifted his hands, noticing that they were shaking. Why had this never happened before? It was not the first close call he'd had, merely the closest...but it had always happened, before, in the midst of a fight. By the end of the battle, the blood had washed away much of the terror. And Yumi or Yumiko was there as well, speaking with him, requiring his guidance if she'd gone too unstable, and the fear had never had a chance to hit home like it had this time. And so he sat by the vampire, fingering the great rent in his sleeve, wondering if he'd now be a drooling decaying beast if Seras had not saved him.
Seras sat, watching him quietly, waiting for him to slowly pull himself back together. He was not the first person she'd seen this happen to, and he likely wouldn't be the last. At Hellsing, there was always a counsellor available to speak with the soldier afterwards, a group of other fighters to talk with him and distract him until he arrived at the estate to meet the counsellor.
Here, there was only her.
And so she began talking, trying to distract him from dwelling on what had happened and nearly happened. She rambled a bit, describing silly things the troops had done, things about Alucard that confused her, complaining about the plainness of her room and the silly uniform she'd worn before, talking about her past as a police officer. And it worked...she could see him start to relax, start to ask her his own questions, stop dwelling on what had occurred.
They found themselves leaning against each other, laughing weakly at her description of a new, coarse recruit deciding to pinch the bum of the girl practicing her firing. Fool enough to harass a fellow soldier, he was also fool enough to ignore the enormous gun she was shooting as well. It had been his first and last day as a Hellsing soldier; even after the bones in his arm had been set, he could not be bribed enough to be anywhere near her!
It wasn't Alucard's gun; Integra had one made for her for occasions when that enormous cannon of hers was not appropriate nor needed. Seras clearly idolized her employer, but her feelings about her Master were a bit more murky. She definitely idolized him, but there was also a bit of anger and sadness there.
She'd laughed, but admitted freely that Alucard would have eaten the man. "Master doesn't like humans. He follows Integra, he certainly admires and respects her, I think he feels for her as much as he is able to do...but if he could, I think sometimes he'd simply eat her. He hides away from humans most of the time. Not really hiding, but he doesn't like them." She watched Heinkel carefully from the corner of her eye; she felt she could trust him with this drabble of information, and the curious concern she saw in his eyes rather than a gloating bit of pride at the knowledge he'd extracted...that reassured her. "I've seen him dreams, talked with him. If I were Master, I wouldn't like humans much either. But it makes it hard. He's the only other vampire on the grounds, and the soldiers are mostly scared of me...and Master isn't very...friendly."
Their talk then turned to other relationships, and Heinkel found out that Seras was charmingly inexperienced. He'd always thought of vampire females as wanton sexual beasts...and Seras admitted with a blush that even before her change, she'd never been truly kissed. Just a quick peck on the lips. He wasn't sure how it happened...but his lips were on hers. A quick peek showed that she was surprised, eyes open and shocked and so very, very blue...but her lips softened under his. Sweet, but cool...not human, quite, but not repulsive. More like the softest silk he'd ever touched. And under his own lips, they warmed.
More daring, he leaned closer to her, then carefully scooted to her side, touching her with his own body as they explored each other with a careful, sweet kiss. She was definitely inexperienced, and Heinkel felt a slight pang...was he taking advantage of her? But she was an adult, and when the kiss ended, SHE pulled HIM closer, wanting to continue.
Her arms wrapped around him, pulling him into the grass beside her as her lips continued to explore his own, her tongue flicking lightly across them. His lips curved into a smile, and he felt hers do the same. His hand ran up and down her side, finding her lovely feminine curves, and her own hand rested on the small of his back, pressing him closer.
The intensity of their kisses increased, and his hands roamed up over her breasts. She pushed into his caress, and, more daring, he reached under her sweater to give her a more intimate touch, though the bra limited his access. She released him then, sitting up with a smirky grin and touseled hair to reach behind herself and release the snaps. Within moments, the bra and her shirt lay beside them, and he was gently holding and caressing her chest. He was the first to do so, and felt a bit of awe at his luck and a bit of sorrow that she had waited so long for such a human touch.
Her own slim white hands were removing his own shirt, and before long, she was stretched on top of him. He'd pulled her there, wanting to feel the touch of her entire body on his own, but not wanting her trapped under him. She was even less experienced than he, and he wanted her to realize that at any time she had the option of stopping him.
He froze a bit, suddenly realizing that this was a vampire. If she wanted to stop, she would. If he wanted to stop...he might not have that option.
Confused blue eyes looked down at him, and he saw her face begin to crumple. She thought she'd done something wrong, that he had come to his senses, that he had found her repugnant or some other silly girlish misconception, and he hastened to reassure her. It was so easy to forget she was a vampire...and so easy to remember that she was a vampire, but also an inexperienced, tender young woman, too. With a tender smile, he returned to kissing her, trying to reassure her that she was not at fault with a very physical and undeniable reaction.
Seras relaxed a bit. Oh, this was enjoyable, her whole body responding in ways she was not entirely familiar with. She understood the basics, but had given up on hoping for a chance to practice what she had been told. Alucard had been very clear that she could get neither ill nor pregnant, and he seemed to think her foolish for not indulging her sensual side. Then again, he himself was almost a recluse, and really only interacted with Seras and Integra as females. He'd been uninterested in Seras in "that way" and while she suspected he might be more...involved...with Integra, she had never pried. And she really didn't think he was; while he might leer at and taunt Integra, he also seemed intimidated on those few occasions when she'd seemed more feminine, and retreated quickly to his own rooms.
Indulge her sensual side...Why not? Caution be damned. Heinkel wasn't about to hurt her, and as a human, he probably COULDN'T hurt her. The guns were well away from them both, lying by the ammunition. He wasn't an innocent, she wasn't taking advantage of him. Well, maybe she was; sex was a common response to a near-death experience, but HE had initiated it.
And if he was willing, so was she. She'd been willing for some time now, but there simply weren't any males she'd ever consider. They were either too crude, or terrified of her...and that was assuming she even found them attractive to begin with. This man...yes. Attractive in a sweetly androgynous way. Not overbearingly macho. Sweet in personality, too. Intelligent...brave...and judging from how his body felt on hers, VERY interested. She could feel her eyes heat up at the thought, and her fangs lengthened...
Fangs. Oh, no. She pushed up from him briefly, catching his gaze, her own face now gone dead serious. "I'm a vampire. I'm hungry. I'm young, which Alucard tells me makes it hard to control myself. And this is my first time. I don't want to hurt you, but I'm...hungry...in more ways than one right now. And if I do bite you...I haven't bitten a human before. I might not control it right, and you could be a ghoul."
Heinkel froze when she said "ghoul." Vampires. Sex. Blood. Oh, how did he forget? He knew exactly how. That bulge down below and the sweet-smelling, curvey beauty above him had short-circuited the part of his brain that should be screaming at him to be cautious. But it also pushed him to find a solution, and quickly, aching to be with Seras. He reached up, wrapping an arm around her waist, encouraging her to stay, while his other hand dug about in his pocket. Ah, there!
Seras's eyes widened as the small knife flipped open in his hand and she nearly pulled away, thinking he was threatening her. Instead, he held the knife against his collarbone and smirked at her. His grin was contagious, if smug, and she relaxed, smiling back.
"And why shouldn't you have a little snack? You said yourself that Alucard told you fresh blood was better. I can spare a bit...and I know that vampires don't usually kill when they eat." His eyes grew a bit more serious. "Can you keep from biting me? Even with blood in your mouth?"
Seras considered this; he could see her pondering this, checking and double-checking herself. And then she nodded. Heinkel grinned, pulling her closer again. "Then when it's time, I'll give you a bit to eat." Then he was silent again as their lips met.
Before long, they were both entirely naked. Seras had never seen a fully naked and erect man before, and her curious confusion and slight awe brought a smile back to Heinkel's face. He was careful and considerate, as much as he could be, but she wasn't. As she became more and more aroused under his kisses and gentle caresses, her own kisses became more aggressive, her grip on his body more possessive. And finally, she poised herself above him, ready to lower herself onto him, and he simply lay there, blessing his good fortune and squirming in his own need.
A virgin, though. He would not push into her. He let her lower herself onto him, though he groaned in need and pleasure. So tight, so tight, so soft and slick...like silk inside and out...it was almost unbearable. He could hear her gasp, and forced his clenched eyes open to see her wide eyes and a flash of pain. And then...she was on him, and he was in her, and she was frozen and he was frozen, waiting in an almost painful need for her pain to subside.
Unexpectedly, she lifted herself from him, then before he could react, thinking she was stopping, she lowered herself back down. His head fell back to the ground as he groaned his own pleasure. Oh, God, so good, so good...it was amazing..."Please...more..." He could feel her heated grin but could not open his eyes to look, feeling the pleasure driving down through his shaft and into the core of his body. Moving, she was moving again, bringing herself to pleasure with his body, and all he could do was whimper and moan under her, feeling his own end approaching with shocking speed.
She shifted on him, and he opened his eyes to see her blazing red eyes above his own. "Now...please...now..." she was panting, drooling, fangs frighteningly visible...but somehow not frightening. Erotic. Daringly, his head darted out, his tongue swiping across them and causing her to scream at the sudden pleasure, her body clamping tight about his and causing him to moan at the inexpressible and intense feeling. Scrambling about, he found the knife, opened the blade, and as she thrust herself down on him again, made a small cut on his collarbone.
Seras lunged for it, pulling partly away from him, mouth sealing to the wound. He could feel the suction, and it was almost orgasmic in and of itself. And then she dropped onto him, and screamed against his shoulder, her entire body shaking, her passage gripping him tightly as wetness trickled down them. And the suction as her lips lunged back to his shoulder, the feel of her own exultant orgasm...he found himself driven over the edge himself.
Time passed, finding them tangled together, exhausted and smiling in the grass. Finally, Seras pulled herself up, brushing her unruly hair back as she smiled fondly down at Heinkel. "We ought to call the copter soon or they'll wonder what has happened to us." She looked ready to say more, but instead dropped her head for a final, sweet kiss. Heinkel joined her in dressing; she had some clothes in the ammo bag for cleaning her gun, and they were sacrificed in the interests of not being damp and smelling of their recent activity. Before long, they were both dressed, but far more relaxed and comfortable, and Heinkel was calling to the copter to indicate that they had successfully complete the mission.
Successfully, indeed. Heinkel smiled fondly at the small blonde woman, curled against him as they returned home. Soon, the rising sun and Irish Sea would force her into her coffin. But for now, he was enjoying the last of her company as he could. Successful. Yes. Section 13 and Hellsing could certainly work together. But perhaps he could convince his superiors that a few more missions were in order?
