Chapter 13
Here is the concluding chapter to Kidnapped.
Chapter 13
In the cafeteria the three boys sat at a table together to make their
plans.
\"Did you get the cell phone?\" asked Omi.
\"I got it right here.\" Yuuto patted the pocket on the left side of his
shirt. \"Since JJ trusts me, at least inside the building, I can go
anywhere.\"
\"Remember, the fire has to be large enough so that the guards won\'t
be able to put it out,\" said Nagi.
\"I understand.\" The auburn hair boy turned to Nagi. \"What about
you. Have your power come back?\"
\"Yes.\"
\"Damn, I wish I had my crossbow or at least some poison darts.\" Omi
cursed.
Yuuto raised a napkin to his mouth pretending to cough. He took
something out of his other pocket and wrapped it in the napkin. He
placed it on the table and slid it over to Omi. \"It may not be a
crossbow or darts, but I\'m sure this could do just as well.\"
Omi slipped the bundle off the table and placed it in his lap. He
opened the napkin and smiled. No, it wasn\'t darts or a crossbow,
but Yuuto was right. It will most definitely do. Omi wrapped the
napkin back over the ivory handle switchblade.
\"Yes, it will do just fine.\"
\"So, when do you want me to start the fire?\"
\"Start it a few minutes before dinner,\" said Omi. \"We want this fire
to be big so there will be a lot of commotion. After you set the fire,
wait about five minutes and then call the police, fire department and
the media.\"
\"I understand. . .\" Yuuto went silent.
\"Is something wrong?\" asked Nagi.
\"You should know that the cops are on JJ\'s payroll. So, It may not
be wise to trust any of them,\" said Yuuto.
\"I should have remembered that Esset had their hands in the law
enforcement as well.\" Nagi clenched his hands into fist.
\"Then we will have to slip away during all the commotion,\" said
Omi. \"Once we get away we can call Aya and Crawford and tell
them where we are.\"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was dark when the ex-assassins arrived at the posh hotel
building that sat almost on the outskirts of the city. The building
was a blazing inferno. There were about fifty firemen trying to put
out the blaze.
\"Oh my God! Are we too late?\" Yohji stared up at the dancing
flames. There was an explosion. It made everyone shrink back in
fear, but no one ran away. They all stayed to watch the inferno.
Suddenly there was a rumble of thunder and a crack of lightning
across the cloudy night sky. It was going to rain. Great. Just
fucking great! The entire heaven was against them. It took them
like forever to locate the boys. Now, that they had found them. They
may be gone forever. God hates them. That\'s the only thing that
makes sense to Yohji. His sweet chibi was gone. Who was going
to scold him about his smoking and drinking habits.
Aya looked around for the ex-Schwartz assassins. The men were
in the crowd talking to some of the spectators. He saw Crawford
talking to a group of teenage boys. They were all dressed in
satin pajama. When he was finished, he came back to join them.
He motioned to Schuldig and Farfarello to join them.
\"What\'s up?\" asked Ken.
\"Those boys are from puppet master\'s prostitution ring,\" said
Bradley.
\"What about. . .\" Before Ken could finish asking about his
friend Crawford raised a hand silencing him.
\"They said they remembered Omi and Nagi. It seems they were
giving Adams some trouble.\"
The five men smiled grateful that their young friends were indeed
alive and taking names. But their good mood soured when they
noticed the strange expression on the American\'s face.
\"What\'s wrong Brad?\" Aya felt a cold knot settle in the pit of his
stomach.
\"The boys said that none of them seen Nagi and Omi when they
all ran out of the building.\"
\"No, you don\'t . . .\" Ken started to say but choked on his words.
Just then, the sky opened up and poured rain down on them. It was
like the heaven was weeping for the lost of the two young souls
that had yet to live.
\"They say that the rain are the tears of angels weeping for the sins
of the world,\" said Farfarello.
\"Farf, please. No more talk about God or angels or sins,\" said
Ken. The young man turned, took two steps and collapsed to his
knees. Farfarello was at his side cradling the weeping Ken\'s head
against his chest.
\"They could have gotten out the back door,\" said Aya sounding
hopeful.
\"The boys said the back door was always locked with a deadbolt
and chains,\" said Crawford shattering that last bit of hope. \"Also
one of the boys said that they seen Omi and Nagi go upstairs.\"
\"Upstairs? What was upstairs?\" asked Schuldig.
\"Puppet master\'s office.\" He continued to stare at the flames.
\"I hate the rain,\" said Yohji after staring at the inferno for a minute.
Bradley knew the feeling. He hated the rain too. He has always
hated the rain. It rained the day he buried his wife. Now it\'s
raining again, destroying his soul quicker. Bradley removed his
glasses and raised his face into the rain, letting it wash away his
tears. He swore that he would never feel this way again. But he
guess the old saying is true, \'never say never.\'
He always thought that emotions were a burden that you could live
without them. That is why he cultivated his image of icy
self-control. Nothing could get under his skin. But as usual, he
was wrong, again. Somehow the Irishman, the German and the
Japanese had become very important to him. They were his
family. And now once again, he was loosing it, that sense of
fulfillment. He has lost someone very important to him once
again. Nagi was like the son, he and Marlene never had the
chance to have.
Bradley didn\'t want anyone to see him crying, but he couldn\'t
help it. He wanted his family back intact. He wanted Nagi back.
Putting his glasses back on, Bradley turned his back to the
blaze. \"Let\'s go.\" And they all slowly followed the American
back to the cars.
Bradley reached for the door handle when another vision
struck.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two figures sat in an alley shivering in the rain. One was dressed in
red satin pajamas with wet blond hair and bright blue eyes. The other
figure was huddled close to the blond. He wore dark blue
pajamas. His sable colored hair was soaked as his indigo colored
eyes stared up at someone. . .A girl!
She was a young foreign girl around Nagi\'s age or maybe
younger. She had long black hair and caramel colored skin. She
smiled at the two boys. They were saying something, but his visions
never spoke. The two boys talked among themselves for a few
seconds and then followed the girl.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
\"Brad. . .Brad. What\'s wrong?\" Aya and Schuldig was at the
American\'s side holding him up.
This time he didn\'t try to hide his tears. Bradley Crawford burst into
loud sobbing tears as he buried his face against Aya\'s
shoulder. Although the rain mixed with the tears washing them
away. You can tell when a person was crying.
Aya looked to Schuldig for help. The Telepath didn\'t know what to do
either. This was the first time he has seen his stoic leader cry. Then
the sobs turned into loud, nearly hysterical laughter.
\"He\'s gone mad,\" said Yohji.
Bradley raised his head and soundly kissed Aya on the lips. The smile on
the precog\'s face made Aya\'s heart skip a beat.
\"They\'re alive.\"
\"What!\" Schuldig stared at his friend.
\"Nagi and Omi. Both boys are alive,\" Bradley repeated.
The six men cheered. Hearing the noises behind them, some of the
spectators turned away from the blaze to see what was happening.
But Aya and the others paid no attention to the gawking crowd. All
that mattered to them was that their young friends were alive.
\"Where are they? Could you tell? Were they hurt? asked Ken
excited.
Bradley calmed himself and took a deep breath. Exhaling, he
quickly regained his icy self-control composure and turned to the
waiting men. \"All I could see was that they were in an alley
but. . .\" He pushed his glasses upon this nose. \"But they left with
a girl. I don\'t know which nationality she was, but she was black.\"
\"Well, she shouldn\'t be too hard to find,\" said Yohji.
Bradley wasn\'t so sure about that. You would be surprised at how
a person can disappear in a city when they want to. Although it
was only a vision, Bradley had a feeling that this girl was very
dangerous.\"
\"Let\'s go back to the penthouse. We can start our search in the
morning.\"
\"Are you sure about that?\" asked Ken frowning.
\"It\'s raining. I\'m cold, wet and hungry,\" said the American. \"We\'ll
never be able to find them in this downpour. Besides, they weren\'t
in any danger.\"
\"Well, okay.\" Ken wasn\'t sure about that, but he guess Crawford
had a point. He was tired and hungry also. He could use something
in his stomach and a rest. They could start fresh in the morning.
Besides, they are this much closer to finding their friends and
going home.
They got in to the cars and went back to the penthouse.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nagi and Omi sat huddled together in an alley under an old
newspaper. They were wet, cold and hungry.
\"I\'m sorry Omi. I couldn\'t hold on to Yuuto in the crowd,\" said
Nagi through chattering teeth. \"The crowd was larger than I
thought it would be.\"
\"It\'s okay. Once we contact Aya or Crawford, we can look for
Yuuto later,\" said Omi. He kissed the telekinetic against his
flushed cheek. Omi frowned. \"We should get you inside. You
have a fever.\"
\"I could use something hot to warm me up,\" said Nagi snuggling
close to him.
\"Hen Bao Qian.\" Came a female voice above them.
Both boys stared up at the girl. She was a pretty thing with long
black hair that clung to her hips. Dark eyes and dark complexion.
Since it was dark and raining and with only the dim street lights
to see by, it was all they could make out about the girl. Except
for the fact that she spoke fluent Chinese. She wore a dark rain
coat and hat, and an umbrella hung over her arm.
The girl spoke again, but Omi didn\'t understand a word she
uttered. So, Nagi translated for him.
\"She says if we want we can stay at her place.\"
The girl spoke again and flashed them a smile so sincere and pure
that both boys stared at her blushing. The dark skinned girl said
one more thing and gave them her umbrella then she slowly
walked down the alley.
\"She said it\'s up to us if we follow her,\" said Nagi. \"She said that
she just saw fellow teenagers in trouble and she wanted to help.\" The
lightning cracked across the sky. Omi closed his eyes and began
banging his head gently against the brick wall.
\"We need to get out of the rain.\"
\"I don\'t know.\" Omi watched the girl walk away. \"What do you
think?\"
\"Me. . .I don\'t know why, but I believe we can trust her.\" Nagi looked
down at his cold, pale hands. His fingers were becoming numb. \"I
say we go with her.\"
Omi stared into the pale face of his lover. The boy\'s eyes looked
hollow and sunk deep into his head. Omi needed to get Nagi some medical treatment.
\"Well, nobody ever said life was going to be easy,\" Omi snorted
with a smirk. \"Let\'s go.\"
Omi took the umbrella from Nagi, and they got to their feet. He
opened the umbrella and held it over them.
The girl had stopped at the end of the alley almost as though she
knew they would follow. Once they were standing behind her. She
started walking again with the two boys close behind her.
