The Lord's Dance
Echoes In Time Chapter 16: The Lords Dance
The evening was filled with electricity, as Amoi descended to the center of Ios and to the Museum of the Arts Main Hall. The citizens of Amoi were given the specifics as to the attire, and the tailors throughout all the major metropolitan cities, spun their skills according to the designs forwarded to them by Jupiter. Many felt a surge of unity, as Elite and commoner alike would dress according to Clan, and not status.
There was no larger group of invitees that felt more elated, than the impoverished from the outer cities, and the slums of Ceres; the lowest of all, Midas, which raised one Riki Oskuro. His old stomping grounds, where friend and foe alike was proud to don on their new colors, as new found members of the Warrior Clans of Amoi. This suited them well, as many never could afford such wardrobes in leather, Riki's preferred attire. Many felt this new look, would raise the self-esteem of the impoverished many. To them, Prince Riki Oskuro's lineage meant a new life, new hope, and best of all, it was all free of cost. Though many loved their new found Prince in black, some chose instead to wear a variety of colors, given their choice in the matter.
Since not everyone would fit into the main hall, Jupiter required that each District nominate representatives to attend the main hall, and since the Gala could be viewed globally, many cities would host smaller venues so all could partake.
On the other end of the spectrum, were the Elite who were afforded everything, just by the mere fact that they were privileged among the masses, and furthermore, the Elite of the Elite, the Blondies, had no rival on Amoi. This highly regarded lot were bred in secret, educated in Academy's, whose high positions in Amoian society, never had a need for want. These were now to be dressed in the colors of the Intellect Clans, and Iason's colors.
To wear the colors of the Son of Amoi and Lord Heir to the Intellect Clans, was an honor many could not fathom. They did not care for the mongrels of Midas, though that train of thought was soon to change, and they knew this. Some murmured among their peers at the local night clubs, and gatherings at their private Estates, but such talk was being quashed by those close to Iason, like Lord Konami Sung, Headmaster, of the Elite Academy, who would not allow such gossip to grow.
Many felt offended that they would have to attend smaller venues in mixed company, however, Jupiter was clear on this mandate, as she would address all citizens prior to the commencement of all festivities. Blondies fraternizing with commoners did not sit well with the Elite Classes, and this would be one of many issues the well to do would not easily accept.
The group of citizens who felt lost in the excitement where the households, servants, and all who catered to the Elites. Though technically they were members of the Warrior Clans, they felt more inclined to be Intellects since they served them with great pride. Jupiter had made provisions for those in the service industries, and allowed the head of each household and Merchants in general, the option to dress their attendant's in the way they saw fit, so not much changed for them.
As the sun set, the cool clear winter's night showed promise to the evenings festivities, as the stars made their appearance, and the twin moons beamed their light down on the Royal family, making their way to the venue. Snow had been forecast, but it seemed even the God's were eager to see the activities below, and did not want their view obscured by clouds. The crowds pressed along the velvet roped stairs, security was tight, and one man stood proud at the base of the stairs, awaiting the private shuttle carrying the Ancients.
“Lord Am, all exits are secured, and Bio-Droids are all in place.”
Sir Luis Raymone gave Raoul a slight nod, as he took in Raoul's attire. Yes, he was now dressed as he should be, as a Sentinel Elite. Raoul's attire consisted of a off-white shirt, buttoned high on his neck, and a black long sleeved coat with golden buttons which showed off his broad shoulders, and hugged his slim waist. His trousers were also black, and he wore knee high black boots. He wore his cape held by two gold claps, and a black belt that was engraved with the symbols of a star eclipsing the sun, for the Head of Intelligence. It held a laser pistol, and several neuro-devices used by his team on Rhea.
Yes the mind was a powerful tool, and Raoul was taking his role of Sentinel at Arms seriously, having learned of his father's occupation. There was much he wanted to learn about his father, and he looked at the shuttle with anticipation. What pleased Luis most, was how Raoul wore one small braid down the side of his head, which was tied with a golden tie, in similar fashion as Iason, but looked eerily similar to the image of his father, Lord Rene Am.
Raoul's voice was calm, betraying the anxiety of the moment, “Very well, I will escort the Royal Family, and leave you to your tasks.”
“Yes, Lord Am, do try to enjoy the evening, this is as much for you, as it is for them. This night is the first time the Royal's appear in public, however, it is also the first time the Sentinel at Arms debut's his colors. You wear them well, I believe your father would be most proud.”
Raoul bowed slightly, and turned towards the shuttle, and waited for it's passengers to step out. He was joined by Ayuda, and Odi, who appeared out of nowhere, and fell in place next to Raoul. He noticed Odi and Ayuda, both wore the Sentinel's colors, and presumed this was Iason's idea. He felt a surge of pride for the company he would have the privilege of keeping, but also felt anxious, as he knew they would be very close by.
Lord Kai, and Raimen made no attempt to hide their excitement upon seeing him for the first time the night before. He was confused by their attention, but also stood in awe, at the depth of their character. In particular, Lord Kai's unflinching stand in the face of Jupiter's authority. He was truly his ideal, in strength, and leadership; a man worthy of his title.
Lord Raimen, had him fooled, as he at first, thought him more of a comedian, than the most intelligent Intellect of his era, as Jupiter stated. That he aided Amoi to the stars, and Iason in the creation of Jupiter, still made his head spin, but there was much his eyes hid, behind the smile they projected. Yes, Lord Raimen was no fool, though it seemed he loved to play the part. Which reminded him of one big fool he had yet to see, Omaki. What would the notorious troublemaker be up to tonight? Raoul sighed deeply, as the shuttle door opened.
Six months prior...
Announcement of Iason's abduction made Amoi tremble with Jupiter's anguish, and desperation. The sentient entity that ruled supreme for centuries had been stabbed in the heart, and she wept with no one to comfort her. She reached out, for the one whom she loved, as a mother reaches for a child, who wanders into oncoming traffic, and found he was not to be held back.
“My Flame...”
But in the days that followed, her anxiety was replaced with exhilaration, and much celebration, for Iason, her golden boy, who not too long ago was the Head of the Syndicate, had returned as the Lord Heir of Amoi, and the awakened Intellect of the lost civilization. The ground rumbled once more and all of Amoi was awakened to visions of Iason and Riki being welcomed on Aristia. Soon all of Amoi would stand in front of every monitor available, and witness the dawn of the Renaissance, and the return of what was.
Jupiter immediately began her orientation of the masses, to educate each man, woman and child of their heritage. At first the masses were confused and some, many- were angry; that many secrets were kept from them. Both Elite and commoner were shaken to their marrow, as the past came to life, and the archives were flooded with inquiries as to their past. While some found little comfort in their family ties, many were elated to discover their roots spanned centuries, back to a time of enlightenment.
One such man who did not share the joyous enthusiasm, was found on Alpha Zen, in the bitter cold of winter that had kept him indoors since his return from Aristia. He was recuperating from his many injuries, and could not reconcile his mind, with the physical injuries that took half of his sight. He hobbled around his Estate, and even refused to use the aid of his cane to get around, no, this was not going to be his fate, he was going to fight.
In the days that followed, Lord Bastian's thoughts slowly turned dark, and he began to plan his revenge. He had hoped to win Iason Mink as an ally in trade negotiations with his company, Advanced Technologies, that would make him wealthy beyond his dreams, and place the Alpha Quadrant in league with those attending the Trade Conference. This network of planets, whose societies thrived with Amoi's golden boy, including one Commander Voshka Khosi, his rival in trade, and one who's friendship with Iason, he envied.
But not all went according to plan, and he lost much in the attack on the Ios. An attack he helped plan with the Elders of Rhea. They did not care for riches, but only wanted Iason Mink in their custody. Lord Bastian did not care for what, so long as Lord Mink was not killed. His plans were to rescue the captive Mink, making him a hero, strategically placing him in a position of trusted ally.
But the Elders of Rhea were greedy, and once they had what they wanted, they cared not for any agreements, plans, or associates. No, they had learned of the destruction of the Ios and considered Lord Bastian collateral damage. After all, they had never intended to give Iason up, forcing Jupiter to give up her secrets.
But they were wrong, Iason, descendant of the Ancients had awakened. So the ten-thousand year old grudge they held against his Clan was thwarted by yet another secret. To their shock, and surprise, a young dark-haired man, reached out with his mind and nearly choked them where they stood. A young Warrior Prince by the name of Riki Oskuro. Who could have guessed, they had accidentally, if not coincidentally, found the "Flame" and "Tempest" of the Hope Prophesy? Indeed, they made the fatal mistake of thinking they had the upper hand, ignoring the obvious.
Bastian hobbled to his office, and sat before the fireplace. His mind still fumed over what had occurred a little over six months ago. He was brought tea, however struck the hand of his attendant, making the cup fly off his hand, and shatter on the marble floor. He refused the drink, but demanded brandy, his favorite drink, that of late was also his drug of choice, to drown the pain of his injuries. As the elderly man cleaned up the mess, he accidentally cut his hand; his blood dripped on the floor, which reminded him of the first moments, after the Ios was attacked.
“So much blood...there was so much blood.”
“Yes my Lord, but I am alright, I will return to clean this up. Would you prefer some wine?” Mikov, his Attendant since he was a child, did not understand what Bastian was speaking of with regards to blood. Bastian of course, was recalling his injuries during the first moments the Ios was attacked. He remembered hearing the soft music in the background, as a quartet of violinist played chamber music at his request, to set the mood. He walked towards the entrance of the dining hall, to try and be the first to greet Iason. He felt confident Iason could be won over, after all, everyone has a price.
He smiled as he made his way past the many, who also saw him coming down the corridor with his party. As he was nearing Iason, the first explosion blew him back into the dining hall. He felt as if he were standing too close to the door of a furnace that had been left open. The heat of the blast burned his flesh, and as he fell, he felt the sting of shrapnel burn throughout his body.
Bastian closed is eyes, wishing he could forget.
As Mikov straightened up, Bastian spoke, “Yes old friend, forgive me- a glass of wine would be preferable.”
The elderly man left Bastian to bandage his hand, Bastian lay his head back on the tall comfortable chair, and thought of his first days, after the Ios was attacked. He could only listen to the monitors attached to his body, yes, he had survived, and as each day passed in the Medical Facility of Aristia, he listened to the media's reports, and casualty lists. Then one more important bit of news was announced.
“Lord Iason Mink, the Head of the Syndicate, and well-loved Elite from Amoi, was reported missing, and presumed killed, in what has now been confirmed as a terrorist attack of the Luxury Liner, Ios....”
Bastian moaned his displeasure, and wanted to end his life, for all was lost. Day turned to night, and several days had passed, when one evening, he had a visitor enter his room. He could not see, as his eyes were bandaged, and was told of the loss of his left eye. His other eye was injured, however, he would not be allowed to use it until he healed a bit more. He was still gravely injured, and did not care for any company. He turned away from the door, as he weakly spoke.
“I wish to be left alone, please leave.”
The man walked over to a chair next to his bed, and sat down. He did not speak at first, then after a few moments of silence, he cleared his throat, making Bastian turn his head in his direction.
“I see you survived your ordeal....Lord Bastian Hemile, son of Lord Gregorio Hemile, of Alpha Zen. I apologize for my tardiness, however, it would appear, that Aristia is in a state of emergency, and I could not find a place to dock.”
The man's voice was sarcastically cold, and deliberate, as he looked at his nails, as if inspecting his manicure. He was a rather tall man, and crossed his legs languidly, as if expecting to be served tea.
“W-who are you? As you can see, I am blind. Did my father send you? I find it hard to believe that old bastard would care. I'm afraid you made a long trip for nothing.”
“Who I am is not important, however, I was dispatched to convey the gratitude of the Council of Elders, for your assistance, and to notify you that your services will no longer be necessary, as they are going in a different direction.”
The man rose to his feet and made to exit the room. Bastian felt the pit of his stomach bubble, as if he had swallowed a vile of acid, and in his anger, spewed from his lips. He began to shout, “What the Hell are you talking about?! I am being dismissed like some lowly commoner, as I lay gravely injured?! They will not get away with this! Do you hear me?! Bastards! Betrayers the lot of them!”
The man did not stop, as the door closed behind him. The shouts of Lord Bastian could be heard down the corridors, alerting medical staff to come running into his room. He would be sedated, as he tried to rip off his bandages in attempts to see who it was that had spoken to him.
*~*
Bastian sipped on his wine, as he now laughed quietly to himself. “Those foolish Elders got what they deserved. They thought they were going to blackmail Jupiter? And for what? Secrets, that is what. I will know what these secrets are, if I have to take away all that Iason Mink cares for. After all, an eye for an eye is not that uncommon a thought when one is betrayed.”
Bastian continued to follow Iason and the new “Prince” in all the gossip channels, and paid handsomely for all news regarding the disturbance on Rhea. Yes, authorities were tight-lipped with regards as to what happened that night on the dark planet. There were conflicting reports of an explosion in one of the planets many active volcanoes, wiping out the City of Elders, and that no one survived the destructive power that left no signs of life.
Of course Bastian also heard that the mountain was haunted, and the ghost of the Elders could be heard moaning the many corridors of the underground city, left filled only with the ashes of the dead. He even paid so-called “witnesses” of the destruction, who said they saw two men whose faces glowed and could kill with their minds. Of course this was ridiculous, but nevertheless, Bastian paid the man. What did surprise him, was that Iason was not killed in the destruction, and little if anything was said as to how he was rescued.
Secrets.
The many months after he returned to his Estate, Bastian kept to himself, obsessing over the fact that he was gravely injured, and Iason looked the picture of health. His heart grew cold, and his mind numb, while he endured extensive, painful Accelerator treatments, and skin graphs; Iason on the other hand, was spending his holiday on Aristia, enjoying the sunlight. Yes, there were many unanswered questions.
But Bastian had secrets of his own, and he was going to use his power, and influence to reveal Iason's new found power, and that of the young Prince. Prince indeed, he recalled looking at the images of this young man, knowing it was Iason's mongrel Pet, and it infuriated him, that this person would be discovered to be the lost Heir to a dead civilization, long dead.
Yes, Bastian had seen the footage released by Jupiter, and it only lit a fire under him to get back on his feet, and discover the secrets to Lord Mink's lineage, and that of this long lost Prince, Riki Oskuro. Yes he would do this if it killed him.
*~*~*
“Martin, wake up...c'mon Martin, don't leave me!”
Jake shook Martin who could not be roused to awaken. The young medic woke up, strangely warm, and comfortable, considering his injuries, to find Martin in his cot, holding him tight from behind. He could not move, as Martin held him pinned against the bulkhead all night. He figured Martin did this to prevent him from going into shock, but now that he was awake, all he could do was scream.
“Help! Someone...anyone...help!” Jake's screams brought two guards to their cell door.
“Shut the hell up in there! Or do you want want to feel the sting of my whip? I don't think you will like it much, if I have to come in there after you woke me up!”
Jake didn't care, Martin was not moving, and he was frantic. “I don't care! Help Martin! I don't think Lord Bastard will like it if we die under your watch!”
“What the hell? He's right.” Came the whispered response from the other guard. “Gerard will be pissed if they die, open up and let's have a look at them.”
The guard opened the door and walked in to the strong smell of blood. It was not a good sign. He turned on the dim lights in the cell, to find Martin wrapped up around Jake. His back was a mess, as the bandages had bled through, and it was obvious his wounds had opened up. Jake tried to push away from the wall, but Martin would not let go.
“Looks like this one has a crush on you, if I knew you were lovers, perhaps we should come back later.” The first guard teased.
“I can't move you fool, and he's not waking up! You need to have the doctor see him! Martin! Martin wake up!”
“Shut your trap you squirt, who the hell do you think you are telling us what to do? He's probably just faking it!”
The guards shook Martin roughly, but Martin would not move. They moved him back to his cot, and found his body was wet with perspiration, and blood.
“Damn! He's running a fever! Go get Gerard, and wake the doc!”
Jake began to panic, “What is wrong? I can't see! Turn me over, I'm a medic!”
The guard turned around and roughly turned Jake towards Martin. He could see Martin was burning up, and his body now began to tremble.
“He's got a fever, and his body is going into shock! Cover him up, and get him to your medical bay now!” Jake reached out towards Martin, “Martin, don't give up! Hang in there!”
The corridor became filled with the footsteps of several men, who came into the cell. It was Gerard, who was not too pleased to be roused from his slumber, followed by the guard.
“What is going on?!
“Sir, this one is not doing so good, I found him in the other guy's cot hugging him, and he wouldn't wake up. And we heard this one screaming his head off saying he was in shock!”
Gerard looked at Martin, he felt his forehead, noticing his high temperature, and even though the guard had covered him, he was trembling uncontrollably. Yes, he could see the bloody mess he was laying in, and knew it was not good.
“Take him to the medical bay, and take this one too. We don't need both of them dying on us.”
Jake began to cry, “He's not dead yet! You need to give him antibiotics, and his wounds need to be stitched up you fucking bastards! You did this to him! YOU! And for what? We told you we don't know anything!”
“Shut your trap!” yelled the guardsman, as he was about to strike Jake across the face.
“That is enough!” Gerard held his hand off, “Take him, have the doc look at him.”
Martin was taken to the medical bay, where the doctor waited for him. He was smoking a cigarette, and drinking a cup of coffee, trying to wake up. When Martin was laid on the exam table, he lay as if dead. His face was pale, and his body was unresponsive.
“Place him on his stomach, gently, he's not far from the grave, and I don't expect, Lord Bastian will be pleased if he dies.”
The doctor began to clean his wounds, and upon closer examination, found Martin had opened all his wounds in his attempt to keep Jake warm.
“He's a fucking mess! Who's handy work was this?” The doctor gave Gerard a pointed look, “With his small frame, and extensive blood loss, you leave me with little to work with. Why was he not brought to the medical bay? Who ever gave this young man first aid, did a piss poor job! He'll need several hypo-transfusions, and medication to stem off infection. Once he's cleaned up, and properly hydrated, we'll see if he's a fighter.”
Jake could not be consoled, as he watched the doctor and his team work on Martin. Martin had done this to keep him warm, to save him of the same fate. He could still feel Martin's warmth, and remembered waking feeling warm, and when he felt Martin's body against his, he wanted to thank him for his kindness. Now he didn't know if he would live.
He began to pray. Then in his mind, he tried to wake Martin, yes, he would try to use what little power he had in his thoughts to convey his gratitude to his fallen friend. After a few minutes, he began to feel lightheaded, as the medical team worked on him also. The medication streaming throughout his body made his body feel heavy, and he fell into darkness.
“Martin? Can you hear me? Martin, don't give up, don't give in...we can't die here, we need to hang on, our friends will be so sad...Lord Mink will be so sad...”
Jake tried to project his thoughts. After all, Lord Mink and the Prince could do it, and they had nothing to lose in trying. Jake knew it was impossible, Martin was unconscious, and near death. And he was not doing any better. Little did he know that Martin, who could not respond, was dreaming the most wonderful dream, one he would love to never awaken from.
He found himself back on Aristia, and in the gardens of Lord Mink's Estate. He loved the island estate, and especially the many scents that permeated the air. He loved to sneak around and watch Iason take his walks with Riki. In the early evening, as the sun's brilliant colors refuse to leave their hold on them, Martin loved to watch as they gazed into each others eyes. Martin was in love with their romance, he felt he was a witness to the most beautiful love story ever to grace the living. He would follow them to the hot springs, and blushed, as he viewed their passion, desiring such a love as theirs. Sadly, the image of Jake's tortured body now invaded his mind, and he turned his eyes from the image. He didn't want to ruin his beautiful dream, death would be a welcomed friend if he could only let it wash over him.
“Martin! Don't give up!”
He swore he heard Jake just now, and this pained him. Jake was hurt, like he was, and he didn't want to think about this...no...he loved Jake, and as he thought on this, the image of Gabriel came to his mind. Gabriel would be sad too, as would the rest of the team. But Gabriel had loved him once...yes, he wanted to think of Gabriel.
Hours would pass before Martin's vitals stabilize. The doctor watched over them both, surprised that Martin survived. He applied Accelerator once more taking a risk, but knew there was no choice. Jake on the other hand, fared better, and this he had to credit Martin for his quick action, in keeping his friend warm with is own body. As a doctor, he appreciated the sacrifice, and if he wasn't a bastard, would have let them die, instead of suffer more torture. But he knew if they had died, he would ultimately be blamed for it, even if it was not his whip that caused the damage.
Gerard knocked on Lord Bastian's hatch. He knew the report he was about to give, would not land well on his Master's ears. The two medics were holding information, he knew this, even if they did not know it themselves. His sources were never wrong, so he knew that Martin and Jake had taken care of Iason after he was abducted, gravely injured. He recalled how excited Lord Bastian was, when he learned Iason had survived the abduction, and was taken to Rhea. But when the Elders cut him out of the deal, leaving him for dead, he wanted to kill them himself.
His source spoke of Lord Mink's strange behavior, and swore he saw the famed Blondie glowing. Of course he didn't really believe this, but he knew this man was never wrong, after all, he was there the night the mountain blew up. He indicated he saw the rescue team work their way to the City of Elders, led by Lord Mink's mongrel Pet and a group of men, which included Blondies and the medics. Gerard heard Lord Bastian rustle in his bunk, and knew he was now awake.
“Yes, what is it Gerard?”
“Sir, there has been an incident with the two medics.” Gerard was cautious as the hatch opened, and Lord Bastian was pulling his boots on. He walked in and stood by the hatch.
“What do you mean by 'incident?' Have they said anything?” Bastian looked at Gerard, who kept his eyes steady on his own.
“No Sir, it seems that one of them is in critical condition, and is being stabilized by the doctor, the other was also been taken to the medical bay for care. It would seem that the older one, Martin, crawled over to the other man's cot in an attempt to keep the younger one from going into shock, as apparently, they had difficulties overnight.”
“Difficulties? As in what? Are you trying to say we nearly killed them? I don't believe we were that heavy-handed. The fault lies in the care you and your men gave them after the interrogation.”
Gerard stiffened at Lord Bastian's words, as he recalled, Lord Bastian did partake in Martin's poor condition. Especially, after Jake's comment of Iason and Riki being "Gods."
“Yes, Master.” Gerard bit his lip, “They were particularly stubborn, even under the influence of the truth serum. The doc thinks they will pull through.”
“Well, they sure as hell better, or else, this mission would have been pointless. I need to learn what it was they did to Lord Mink after he was abducted from the Ios. He was in the middle of that explosion, and could not have survived without injuries. I was only a short distance from him, and his party, and many of those men did not survive. Not only that, I must know what happened on Rhea, and to the Council of Elders. What happened between them, Jupiter, and Lord Iason. There was nothing left of their precious "Vault of Specimens," and I have to believe, it was either destroyed, or taken.”
Gerard listened quietly, then spoke, “I'm certain, that if the vault survived the explosions, the team from Amoi transported it back to Jupiter. As for Lord Mink's health, I must admit, that it is indeed a mystery. My sources on Aristia indicated, that Lord Mink remained there for six months recuperating from his ordeal, along with his household.”
“There is also a vital piece to this puzzle that is missing, that of this Queen, what was her name?”
“The Lady Yuri Mink, my Lord.”
“Ah, yes, this ancient Queen from the lost civilization, and her famed treasure of great worth.” The Elders had dug up a room of that era, in the ruins of Amoi's wastelands. This Intellect Queen, along with her Warrior counterpart, a Lady Erin Oskuro, apparently had a vast treasure, hidden among the stars.”
Lord Bastian's eyes widened in his excitement, as he spoke of these two ancient women.
“Yes, the Elders spoke of traveling to all corners of the known universe, finding bits and pieces of this puzzle, hiding it from Jupiter's all seeing eyes. She has never moved on this, and that only tells us, she does not have any information, regards the Queens.”
“Yes, but now, with the revelation of Lord Mink's recently discovered lineage, there has been renewed interest in the treasures of ancient Amoi. Every treasure hunter from here to the outer planets is searching for this treasure. But we have these medics, and they know something. I know this.”
Lord Bastian's eyes became narrow, as his mind thought on this deeply. “We must ensure these two men survive, how long before we have the advance truth serum?”
The merchant ship carrying our team, is going to resupply on Aristia, and meet us on the outer beacons off Rhea's territories. They estimate their arrival within three days.”
“Very good, this will give the medics time to heal up. Let's let them rest, as I hear this serum is quite effective. My source on Amoi indicated, the Head of Intelligence has used it with great results. There is nothing on the market like it, and it came with a great price.”
*~*~*
The hall was filled to capacity, as a long line of guests strolled past the entrance, into the waiting attendants. Lord Ghan greeted each guest with a smile, and as the dignitaries were escorted to their tables, it was soon discovered that the set up was unusual, as there were four seating areas surrounding a large open area, where the Pets were performing a simple dance, wearing flowing costumes. It was not the usual fare associated with grand galas of the past, but there was an air of excitement, as music never heard before was being played by Amoi's Grand Symphony Orchestra.
To those who had attended Omaki's events before, this was a whole new world. There were no scantly attired men or women, and everything from the decorations, to the wines being served, was top of the line. Omaki himself, was dressed in the colors of the Intellects, dressed in a royal blue outfit, with a ivory long-sleeved shirt made of the finest silk, buttoned high on his neck, beneath a white fitted vest. The long sleeves had small delicate ruffles that came out at the wrist, from his blue high collar floor-length coat, gathered at the waist, and wrapped with a gold sash. He wore white trousers, and black knee-high boots. His coat was adorned with a multi-jeweled clip, and he wore his hair up with flowing locks, clipped high also adorned with multi-jeweled stones.
Argent had helped him dress, and could not help but admire him. Jupiter had sent the specifics on his outfit for the night, and Omaki was not made aware that it was reproduced from the archives, down to the last jewel on his earrings, and one special ring. Argent felt Jupiter had out-done herself, as Omaki looked quite “royal” himself. His attire, was created to compliment him, and as he looked over his wardrobe, could not help but feel a sense of nostalgia.
Perhaps it was due to his countless hours with his nose in the archives, and years of living in the past, in rooms full of history. But as he glanced at Omaki greeting the guests, he could not help but love him; Omaki had come to life as if taken from the pages of the past. You could not tell by his cool demeanor, that he was a nervous wreck but an hour ago when he was introduced to the royals.
One hour ago...
Raoul, Odi and Ayuda bowed, as Kai and Raimen stepped out of their shuttle. The first to make eye contact was Lord Kai, who gasped at Raoul's attire. He felt weak in the knees, as Raoul was a vision in his Sentinel's uniform, and in his eyes. Yes, it was too much, too similar, and far too long ago. Riki caught his father, as he felt his anxiety, but found Raoul had also stepped forward to catch the Ancient by the arm.
“Lord Kai, are you alright?” Raoul whispered, “Here, take my arm.”
Kai felt his heart skip a beat, as he took in Raoul's face up close. Raimen couldn't help but sigh, at his lover's transparent infatuation, but didn't blame him, Raoul was absolutely scrumptious, and if they found him alone tonight, felt he was going to be eaten alive by them.
“Father, are you sure you will be alright? There are many you might recognize, and...”
“Nonsense! I would not miss this for the world, in fact, I believe this night may be a healing salve to this old Warrior's soul.” Kai looked at Raoul, who averted his eyes away from Kai's face. But smiled weakly, as Kai spoke these words, knowing full well, what he meant. Raoul looked over at Iason, who was an absolute vision, and could not help but stare. Of course, he had Riki's arm, and the two were inseparable. Riki gave him a knowing smile.
“Good Evening, my Lords, I hope you both are doing well.” Raoul bowed respectfully.
“Raoul, you certainly look dashing tonight, I can't remember, the last time I've seen you in black.” Riki grinned, as black was his favorite color, and loved how Raoul wore it better than anyone, well, except for him, and Omaki, and of course his father, and couldn't wait to see his Clansmen in black, but Raoul definitely looked good in his eyes.
“Thank you my Prince. If you are ready, I would like to escort you to the adjoining hall, where our host is waiting. He will brief you as to the tonight's festivities.”
Raoul, Odi and Ayuda escorted the Ancients up the stairs, to the many cheers from the crowds who were fortunate enough, to catch of glimpse of the four men as they arrived. They entered the hall to find Omaki walking up with Argent. They bowed graciously, to which Kai and Raimen almost jumped out of their skin, for there stood Omaki Ghan, in the flesh, looking as handsome as ever, with that familiar twinkle in his eyes.
Omaki did not show any signs of recognition, but Kai and Raimen did. They remembered Jupiter's warning not to let on as to their past, but they could not help themselves...
“Omi?!” Kai and Raimen shouted, then caught themselves, as Iason rolled his eyes, and raised a hand to his pulsing temple. “Ah...yes, Lord Omaki Ghan, I am pleased to finally meet you!” A more refined Raimen, purred, after Iason gave him a pointed look. “I have heard so much about this Gala, and your 'hard' work to make us feel welcomed.”
Kai wanted to bust a gut, for Raimen's play on words, as the bewildered and surprised Omaki, looked around as if he was the target of a practical joke, waiting for someone to jump out of the shadows and tell him he was the butt of an elaborate joke. How could the two Royal Lords, greet him in such a way? His cheeks blushed softly, as he looked over at Iason who shrugged his shoulders.
“Father, please don't manhandle our host!” spoke Riki, as Kai patted Omaki on the back rather hard. Riki could feel the emotions rise among the group, as everyone but Omaki knew what was going on, and watched Omaki like a hawk. They all knew this was a critical moment, and wanted the meeting to be done in private, should Omaki awaken at first glance.
“It is a pleasure to finally meet you my Lords, I have heard much about you, and I'm honored by your presence tonight. I hope you all enjoy the festivities, as we attempt to recreate a familiar event, thanks to my co-host, Lord Argent Jensen. He is our resident keeper of the Archives on Amoi, and the authority on the Lord's Dance.”
Jupiter watched in stealth mode, waiting to see if there was any change in Omaki. She could have strangled Kai and Raimen, and felt as Iason did, who only shook his head, and sighed. It was going to be an interesting night, but she was certain Omaki was on the verge of awakening, and if it happened tonight, she wanted to be present; there was no way of knowing what, if any- special powers Omaki would exhibit. She paced back and forth, invisible to the naked eye, except for Riki who could sense her, and Raimen and Iason, who could always detect her presence.
Riki giggled slightly which made Iason look his way, and inquired in his mind. “What is it love?”
“Jupiter is here in stealth mode, and if I know her, as Lady Erin, she is pacing the floor right now. I can sense her anxiety, and thought it was funny as hell!”
“This is going to be one crazy night, I can't believe our father's outburst a moment ago! How the hell are we going to keep things under control?”
Raimen caught Iason and Riki looking at each other, “Now, now you two, it is rude to talk where we can't listen! We'll have none of that, if you have anything to say, say it!” Raimen gave them a leveled look, then winked at them.
Raimen turned to look at Argent, who bowed as he was being introduced, then rose, finding he was now being stared at by Raimen, who looked deeply into his eyes. Yes, those hazel eyes, with black flecks were not the type one easily forgets. Raimen remembered this young man, and stepped forward.
“Lord Jensen is it? I would love to have an opportunity to review your archives, and see if history has me down correctly, hm?” Raimen smiled sweetly at the young man, as Omaki looked on. “By the way, is that 'The Lord's Dance' scent I detect on you? What a pleasant surprise, in this day and age.”
Argent blushed slightly, as Omaki now stood next to him and spoke.
“My Lords, tonight, Jupiter will appear, and address the guests on a global scale. If you have not been made aware, this event is being held throughout all of Amoi, at numerous halls.” Omaki's manner of speaking began to change, and a polished and professional persona now kicked in, which was not lost on Riki who could sense a change in his behavior.
Omaki's eyes dilated, then changed in color, and this made all four Ancient's take notice. Riki's tell-tale transformation began, but as his hair danced slightly, his earring chimed, and Iason squeezed his hand. Riki relaxed, but this brought Jupiter out, who now took over for Omaki, who had slowed down, as if he could not find the right words. Riki looked at Iason and pointed at Jupiter, as he spoke in his head.
“See, told you she was in here..”
“My Lords, I will introduce you to our guests, and then the traditional 'Lord's Introductions' will be made by each Lord Father of their Son, to the Clans. My young Lords, when you are introduced, you will transform, and exhibit your power, then bow to the Clans. The Clans will bow in acceptance of your stations, and you will then both be escorted by your father's to your seats. The Lords Dance will be announced, and the two young Lords beginning the dance, accompanied by the young dancers. The three Clan's will then join in.
As you may recall Lord Kai and Lord Raimen, this is usually done for the young Warrior and Intellect, when they first come of age. However, Lord Iason, and you my Prince, were never given the opportunity, to be introduced. I intend this event to set the tone, for what we hope will be the first of many such galas. Lord Ghan, I believe all Clansmen have been assembled. I will introduce Sage Petros, and the Elders from Aristia.”
Jupiter bowed, and faded as Omaki calmly looked at the group, and spoke. “My Lords, this is a privilege, and an honor. I pray you will enjoy yourselves, and find the gala as 'stimulating,' as it is elegant. I have a special treat for you all, and look forward to your comments.”
Omaki smiled, bowed and took Argent by the arm, as he entered the main hall. The group of men all looked at each other, as Kai and Raimen broke out in laughter. Raoul looked on, as Riki and Iason also seemed excited, and this meant, that they also noticed the changes that came over Omaki. Raoul nodded to Iason, who stepped forward.
“Lord Mink, do you think, Lord Ghan will be alright? If he awakens, what can we expect? This is Omaki we're talking about- he is as unpredictable as the weather, and if he has something up his sleeve, and transforms...”
“Raoul, there are four of us, and we can contain Omaki if we need to. As with all such events, this is a unique situation, one you also must prepare for. You never know if you yourself, will be triggered. I only hope...it will not be too unpleasant for you, dear friend.”
Iason placed a hand on his shoulder. It was going to be interesting indeed. Raoul looked over Iason's shoulder and saw Kai watching him closely, as he spoke with Odi and Ayuda. Raimen was jumping with excitement, as he looked at the two men in uniform, pretending to adjust their clothing here and there.
Riki walked up to Raoul and Iason, “Raoul, I will sense a change in you, as I did with Omaki and Argent. I can feel the change in them both. You however, know this may happen. So if you feel anything out of the ordinary, don't suffer in silence, or dismiss it, we can help you. Iason is right, you are aware, and awake. What you see may come in fragments, or in an overwhelming instant recall.”
Raoul thought of this, he knew his feelings towards Kai and Raimen were new, but this was due to his insider information, he figured. Though the longer he was in the presence of the two Lords, the more he felt inclined to be near them. Was it the haunting gaze of Kai's expression, or the knowledge that he knew him in the past? He wanted to ask him, but feared what that knowledge was, or how he would feel about it. Did Lord Kai witness his death? Did he return his affections? Raimen's gentle smiles were telling.
Present...
The Blondies were all decked out in their new attire, and felt incredibly special, as they were ushered to the section designated for the Intellect Clans. They felt odd at first, having always sat where they pleased, but to be directed, was all together a new experience. But the true shock was the entrance of the dark-haired guests.
Yes, the elected representatives from the metropolitan cities throughout Amoi, had also arrived, waiting to be seated, and for them, it was as if they had died and gone to heaven. For none had ever stepped inside the city of the Elite, nor ever dreamed of receiving an invitation to such an event. They slowly, and timidly looked around, as the attendant's bowed to them, and took them by the arm and escorted them to the seating designated for the Warrior Clans. To be served upon and attended, was indeed a shock, and many felt they might awaken to find it was all just a dream.
Quiet murmuring, turned into a noisy gaggle of guests, as the hall filled, and all awaited the entrance of the Royal Family. The lights were dimmed, and as Omaki walked to the front of the hall, Jupiter appeared before the all in the form of Lady Erin. She smiled, as she looked at all in attendance, for it was as she had imagined. All invitees were sent information as to the protocol for such an event; for no one had ever heard of “The Lords Dance.”
The only missing component in the hall, were the empty chairs that were to be filled with the Elder Clans, but Jupiter knew Sage Petros, and his party would enter before the Royals introduced their sons. A hushed awe came over the hall, as Omaki stood by Jupiter and addressed the hall. To many of the dignitaries, this would be the first time they had ever seen Jupiter in person, and for the many newly appointed citizens of the Warrior Clans, this would be a night of many firsts.
“Welcome, honored guests, to the long awaited 'Lord's Dance.' Many months ago, I began an orientation period on Amoi, to familiarize the citizens of this beautiful world, with the past that had been interrupted, by unforeseen events long ago. I have waited patiently, through time, and space, to reunite what was once the most beautiful society in the known universe.
I have invited Dignitaries from throughout our neighboring worlds, to witness the return of the Sons of Amoi. What many of you do not know, is that along with the return of Lord Iason Mink, and Prince Riki Oskuro, I have brought back the Lords of both the Warrior, and the Intellect Clans.”
The silence was deafening, and one could hear a pin drop; anticipation now gripped the hall. Jupiter waved her hand, and the doors to an adjoining hall opened, and in walked Lord Kai Oskuro, and Lord Raimen Mink. The stunned group could not believe their eyes, for there stood, none other than both Ancients, in person, as if they had walked off the images from the archives.
“My children, and honored guests, I would like to introduce you to Lord Kai Oskuro, and his son, Prince Riki Oskuro, Lords of Warrior Clans of Amoi, and Lord Raimen Mink, and his son, Lord Iason Mink, Lords of the Intellect Clans of Amoi- your Royal Family.”
A resounding cheer made the walls vibrate, and all rose to their feet, as the four Ancients all dressed in their royal robes, looked stunning. Throughout all of Amoi, the cheers of citizens echoed, as they all crammed in front of every monitor available, to witness what had only been rumored; that Jupiter had resurrected the Ancients.
Kai looked around the hall, where a sea of faces all looked back, and felt the pangs of joy; for he began to recognize many of those in attendance. His mind was often a pit of despair, where the many faces of the dead walked about, crying his name; yet here they were, cheering his presence. Riki could feel his anxiety, and glanced at his father, the ache he felt was not sadness, it was joy. Perhaps this night would go far in healing his fractured mind.
Raimen was all smiles, as he looked around, also seeing many faces he recognized. To him they were only gone for a few days, only a short time, recalling them fondly; compared to Kai, who knew them in the worst conditions possible. Raimen loved the many cheers, and couldn't wait to work his way around the room.
Iason sighed beneath his smile, as he looked over to Riki who winked at him, with a lopsided smile. Yes, it was time. Jupiter had orchestrated this well. She hummed softly until she raised her pitch, and all quieted down. She once again walked before the hall.
“In the days of old, when a son of Amoi came of age, a gala such as this, was held before the three Clans. They were introduce as a new member, to the ranks of the awakened. However, as many of you have noticed there is a seating area that has yet to be filled. It was a difficult and trying time, that destroyed our society 10,000 years ago, but much has since changed. We have with us, the third, and long lost Clan with us tonight. I would like you to welcome the Sages from the Elder Class of Aristia, and their designated representative, Elder Petros. After tonight, they will return to Amoi, and take a permanent place in our society.”
Elder Petros entered the hall, with is party of Elders, thirty in all, and were escorted to their designated seats. Many had never seen an Elder, other than what was released by Jupiter in the Archives, and there was a quiet murmuring among the guests. Their familiar auburn colored hair and emerald eyes, was difficult for Kai, who could not get their betrayal out of his mind, but had promised Riki he would certainly do his best. After all, these men helped save the life of his only son, and Iason, from that evil sect- their own kind no less.
Jupiter continued, “Please enjoy yourselves, may this be the beginning of a Renaissance towards reconciliation, and understanding among the citizens of Amoi, and this sector. Now I would like to have our gracious host, Lord Omaki Ghan, proceed with the festivities.”
Jupiter stepped back, as Omaki, who was a nervous wreck, but a few moments ago, once again, now seemed as calm as could be, as if he'd done this a hundred times. He bowed to Jupiter, then to the Ancients, and spoke, “Lady Jupiter, my Lords, honored guests, is there among us, a Son of Amoi, to be presented before the Clans?”
“There are indeed, Lord Host.” Came the voices of Kai and Raimen, who now walked to the front of the assembly with Iason and Riki who fell into place next to them.
Kai beamed proudly, to once again find himself addressing the living. With a gentle rumble, the ground vibrated as he began to transform. The guests all gasped at his power, and his appearance. His eyes were dark as night, and his long black hair, which was calm one moment, began to danced serenely, as his face began to glow softly. His voice echoed loudly off the walls in the hall.
“Fellow Lords, honored guests, and Lady Jupiter. I have awakened to find my world renewed, and alive once more. It has always been a tradition, that once a Warrior son of Amoi awakened before us, and had mastered his inner power, would take his rightful place among the three Clans. His voice was now to be welcomed, and recognized before all Council Affairs. I never dreamed, that after all was lost, that my son would be restored to me. My Lady Queen may not be here at this time, but I know she would be proud of our son, just as I am. The last time I saw my son, he was but a child, yet here he stands- a man. So, I now present to you, Prince Riki Oskuro, Lord Heir to the Warrior Clans of Amoi.”
Riki stepped forward, and turned around to face his father, and slowly bowed in respect. He then turned around, and slowly began to transform before all. His face was serene, and innocent, as a tempest stirred and began to swirl around him. He glanced at the bowls of fragrant flower petals that were on the tables, and with a gentle breeze, they began to swirl in the air, slowly landing on the guests. His face began to glow, and showing perfect control, he lifted his hands before them all, and with a soft burst from his heart, sent a wave of his love to all present. The guests, felt his warmth wash over them, and many smiled as they understood- they were in the presence of great power.
Iason never felt more proud, than he did at that moment. Riki was a vision, and as the surge of love washed over him, he heard Riki in his mind.
“I love you Iason..so very much.”
Iason closed his eyes, “You are the tempest that fans the flame in my heart, my sweet Prince.”
Riki slowly transformed back to normal, and then bowed to the three Clans, who now returned their acceptance, and bowed back, before the roar of applause was heard. Kai's eyes filled with tears, and he wiped them away as Riki returned to his side.
Omaki was staring off into space, when Argent nudged him back to reality. Seeing Lord Kai transform moved him deeply, feeling a sense of longing as if something was missing. Raimen now stepped forward, and gracefully bowed to the assembly. He looked around, and smiled as he took in all the faces present. With a soft discharge of electricity, the air was filled with static, as Raimen began to transform. His beautiful blond hair began to dance serenely in the air, and all jaws dropped, when his eyes turned a darker shade of blue, and his face began to glow softly. He was stunning, and his voice though powerful as Kai's- was gentle.
“Ladies, and Gentlemen, honored guests. The children born to our clans do not always awaken at a certain age, some, like my son- begin to awaken slowly, as their capacity and strengths often pick when and where they will manifest. It is the way we were designed by the Gods. At times, we feel at odds with our fellow Clansmen, for a Warrior may manifest his inner powers at a much earlier stage in their lives, for they are rightfully designed that way - being the Warriors that they are. It is a balance that is unyielding, and set in place to govern Amoi in perfect harmony. Our two sons were lost in the stars, and as these very same stars realigned themselves, time has come full circle on Amoi, and restoration is now at hand. I present to you my son, Lord Iason Mink, Lord Heir to the Intellect Clans of Amoi.”
Iason stepped forward, and like Riki, bowed before his father, and then turned and faced the guests. He began to glow softly, and as his gorgeous hair began to dance serenely, the room was filled with pressure, as he raised a hand and softly waved it across the hall. The many crystal light fixtures vibrated in the hall, and all present immediately felt as if their breath had been taken away, then felt the surge of Iason's power wash throughout their bodies. Iason lowered his hand, and as quickly as it was raised, the pressure dissipated. Iason gracefully bowed to the Clans, who once again bowed in return, as a second roar of applause was heard.
The Ancients, now took their seats set aside for the Royal Family. Omaki felt dizzy, as Iason's inner power seemed to have struck him like a bolt of lightning. Argent could see that Omaki was not all there, as did Jupiter, who continued to monitor his behavior. Argent had felt weak at the knees himself, as Riki's power washed over his body. He recalled the sun dial from the night before, and in his mind, he saw the sun rise and set in consecutive images, as if time was moving before his eyes. But was it moving forward, or backwards? He shook Omaki's arm, and roused him from his daydream, and then signaled the orchestra to begin the first dance number.
Omaki looked at guests, and spoke once more. “Ladies and Gentlemen, I present the Lord's Dance.”
The Pet's all entered the hall, dressed in traditional costumes, that flowed softly as they took their place. The guests where enchanted with their appearance, but as Iason and Riki joined them, the crowd once again grew excited. They had never seen Iason Mink, Head of the Syndicate- dance. Iason felt a surge of anxiety, but as Riki took his position before him, he grew calm. After all, he loved to dance in his previous life, and recalled that night on Aristia, when he danced with Riki for the very first time. He would go on to love him passionately, taking the young Prince for the very first time.
Iason placed his right hand on his waist, as his left held Riki's left hand which was raised. They enjoyed the warmth of their bodies, and Riki could sense Iason's excitement. The music began, and Iason stepped forward, leading Riki in the Lord's Dance. The guests, were mesmerized by their performance, and began to clap and cheer as the dancers made their way around the room, the Elite beamed with pride, seeing their Pet's looking absolutely adorable.
Iason began the first set of turns with Riki, as the enamored couple made eye contact, and gazed into each others eyes. It seemed as if the world had fallen away, and only they existed, dancing to the sounds of music they had not heard since the days of old. Such was their thoughts, for their bodies took over, and they glided along the dance floor effortlessly. This would be a night filled with passion, and every cell in their bodies came alive with every step they took. As all the dancers paused before a final spin, Iason bent down, and kissed Riki softly. The oohs and ah's of the watching guests, make Iason blush slightly, but Riki reached up with his hand, holding Iason's head in the kiss.
“You tease me my love...” Iason smiled.
“You started it, I don't recall a kiss in this dance. But I do feel your heat, and your making me horny with your tongue in my mouth, and smelling as wonderful as you do.” Riki breathed softly in his ear.
“I can't help myself, your presence is intoxicating, and I want to feel your body next to mine.”
“Ooo, now that kind of talk won't help me get rid of this hard on. So unless you want to show everyone our family jewels, you better behave, my naughty Blondie.” Riki whispered in Iason's ear. Of course, his warm breath against his neck, made chills run down Iason's spine. He bent down and nudged his forehead, which made Riki laugh.
Kai, feeling alive with all the festivities, rose to his feet, and looked down on Raimen who smiled sensually at his lover, and took his hand. They made their way to the dance floor, and without missing a beat, began to dance among the Pets, and their sons. It was truly a sight to see, and not before long, Omaki was pulling Argent to the center of the room, and also began to dance.
Argent gazed into Omaki's eyes, and noticed they had changed in color once more, and Omaki was holding him closer than the dance called for. He felt a charge of arousal, as Omaki paused and slowly bent down and kissed Argent softly, apparently taking the cue from Iason and Riki. As he watched his lover's approach, Argent's mind became as white as snow, and the image of him holding Omaki in his arms appeared. “You are my treasured one..”
“What did you say?” Omaki spoke, as Argent's eyes dilated for a moment, then returned to normal, “Poetry is such a turn on, my beloved.”
“I am holding a Jewel of great worth, and the God's envy us..” Argent spoke once more, before he realized that Omaki's face had become serious.
“I-I think I need a drink, for I feel as if I've been walking the wastelands, or perhaps my nerves have made my mouth dry.” Omaki whispered, “Besides, you are making my cock dance with your words, and you know that as the host, I can't disappear just yet, so don't tempt me.”
“Let us finish this turn, my love, and then we can rest for a bit, you have done a splendid job with the festivities.” Argent whispered closely to Omaki's ear, as the music was making it difficult to hear.
When the music began the second round, the Pets bowed to their partners, and then gracefully turned to the guests, and looked for their Masters. The Ancients were left alone, and along with Omaki and Argent, were the only ones on the dance floor.
The performance by the Pets was exciting for their Blondie Masters, who were surprised to have them take their hands, and be led to the dance floor and began to dance. The guests took this cue, and began to pair off, and all enjoyed the “Lord's Dance.”
“Well what do you think of all this? Lord Xian whispered to Juthian. This was not a typical bash by Omaki, and they could not help but smile, as Iason and Riki passed in front of them.
“I think it's quite romantic, Master.” Juthian whispered back. “I don't think I've ever seen such beautiful costumes, the Pet's look breathtaking.”
“I believe you are just as stunning my dearest, and I can't wait to have you beneath me, pressing against me..”
“M-Master, please- keep your voice down, we might be over-heard.” A worried Juthian blushed, as Xian placed his arm around his waist, and pulled Juthian close.
“Fear not dearest, look around. Do you not see the Pets all dancing with their Masters? I would wager, they will all be just as preoccupied, as we shall be, before the night is over.”
One such person to feel the tug of deja vu was Yui. Having served Raoul for many years, since his early teens, he felt as if he were walking on thin ice around his peers, as it was discovered he and his Master were intimate, and for a while it was scandalous to learn he'd been restored to a full male physically. Although it was actually not a surprise to hear of yet another servant involved with his Master, it was just not spoken of with great freeness of speech.
But like Lord Xian and Juthian, it was slowly becoming more public everyday, and Yui had just started to become accustomed to the public show of affection by Raoul. After all, Jupiter had removed the decades old mandate, allowing Master's to run their household as they saw fit. Yui, knew Raoul was a Blondie of high status, and the return of the Ancients was an exciting change, but also brought a whole new variable to their relationship, that being, the revelation, that Raoul was also an Ancient.
Yui smiled, as he noticed Raoul walking towards him. Yui knew he was on security watch, and had watched the introductions near a group of Pets. The music was pleasing, and he felt the excitement of watching the Ancients out on the dance floor. But he knew Raoul did not dance, being the serious Blondie he was, so he was surprised, as he held out his hand towards his. “Join me Yui, tonight is ripe for change, and you are deserving of such status.”
Yui, caught his breath, as Raoul brought his hand to his lips, and kissed it. Without thinking, Yui stepped forward onto the dance floor, his cheeks were flushed, as Raoul held him close. Yui looked around the room, as his peers were also being taken by their Masters, and as he spotted Toma dancing with Ayuda, he smiled and relaxed.
“Thank you Raoul,” Yui whispered, “I feel as if this is all a dream. I don't believe, I've ever seen such elegant men, as these Ancients. Lord Iason must be so happy to have his father back, as well as Lord Riki. Do you think you will have such a reunion?”
“I don't know, I am only now learning of this possibility Yui. But whatever changes do come, you will be at my side, fear not.” Raoul gazed into Yui's eyes, and as the music came to an end, Raoul pulled Yui closely, and kissed him softly for the first time in public. Yui felt all eyes on him, but in reality, did not have to worry, as many were crossing the line which was once taboo.
Jupiter actions were aimed to slowly return Amoi to it's pristine past, and it was not well taken by all of it's citizens. There were a number of Elite who did not welcome such change, and certainly not the title of Clansmen by the mongrels of Midas. They were witness to many a change in their world of power, status and control. That house servants were being granted restoration, and many taken as lovers, was not done by all, in fact many preferred to choose a fellow Elite as lover before lowering their taste to the household attendants, regardless of how beautiful that young man was- let alone, a mongrel. It was unheard of for centuries, and the revelation of Ancients spearheading this "Renaissance," was not greeted with enthusiasm by some.
As Omaki and Argent made their way to one of the many refreshment bars, they were intercepted by Kai and Raimen who walked up behind the two, and tapped him on the shoulder. Omaki turned around, and smiled broadly. “Ah, my Lords, how do you like the festivities?”
“Splendid Lord Ghan!” Kai roared, as he pat Omaki rather hard on the back once again. It seemed to him, that Lord Kai was doing that quite a bit. “You have recreated the Lord's Dance perfectly, why, even the 'Pet's' -as you call them- were all dressed up in traditional costumes. If it weren't for the fact, that this a different era, I'd swear you plucked this from a page of one of our famous bashes!”
Kai laughed to himself, as he knew Omaki always had a few surprises up his sleeve, and if Omaki was indeed waking, he hoped he would follow suit. Raimen was helping himself to a glass of punch, and returned to Kai with a glass. He grinned, as he took a second sip, making his eyes dance with excitement.
“Lord Ghan, I must agree with Kai, this punch is excellent! I believe if you are using the traditional tastes from the past, as Lord Argent's cologne indicates, then we're in for a wonderful treat no?”
Omaki smiled, “If I tell you all my secrets, you will not be surprised, now will you my Lord?” Omaki boldly spoke, as Kai drank his punch, and nearly gagged. Raimen let out such a loud laugh, it made Iason and Riki turn and look.
“Are you alright Lord Kai? Can I get you something else, perhaps some wine?” Omaki smiled. Kai and Raimen looked at each other, and then Kai slapped his knee and tried to laugh and breath at the same time.
“No, no, my dear host, I believe, this punch will do fine!” Kai snorted, “I believe you picked this particular brand yourself?”
“Why, yes, of course. Although, it was Lord Jensen here, who made sure it was all authentic, being the bookworm that he is.”
Raimen giggled, “Don't mind us, Lord Jensen, we are pleased with all your "hard" work. Kai and I are truly "stimulated" by the authenticity of your efforts. It will be a night filled with "pleasure," for everywhere we look, we see flavors from the past. Everything I've tasted is absolutely wonderful!”
“Thank you my Lord, now if you will excuse me, as host, I am obliged to dance with a dignitary or two, as I'm sure, you will also be doing. So I leave you with Lord Jensen, if you need anything, please don't hesitate to ask, for I'm off to dance with the ladies.”
Kai and Raimen's eyes grew big, as the old persona of their naughty friend, was making its way to the surface, with more frequency. Argent followed Omaki's movements, as he bowed to a Dignitary's wife, and cut in.
“Don't worry, young Lord,” Raimen whispered, “He only has eyes for you. I should know.” Raimen winked at him, and took another sip of punch. “I would love to meet some of our guests, will you do me the honor and introduce me?”
“It would be my pleasure, Lord Mink.” Argent nervously bowed.
“Please, call me Raimen. Before this night is over, I just know we will all be good friends.”
Kai cleared his throat, finding Raimen's teasing funny. He felt as if a great burden had been lifted off his shoulders, and watched as many came up to greet him. What he did not expect, was to see Raoul shadow his every move. It was expected of course, and then noticed Odi shadowing Raimen, and Ayuda shadowing Iason and Riki. At first glance, he could see them blending in, but what pleased him most, was seeing the dark uniform of the Sentinels return.
Riki watched his father being greeted, and smiled. It was good to see him out and about, smiling and even dancing with some of them. The emotions flooding the hall were strong, and this made his head ache a bit, but he could not have asked for a more perfect debut for his father, and Raimen.
Iason, on the other hand looked after his father with a bit of anxiety, as the jovial Ancient, was flirting with every person he met. He was a huge hit with the women, who all flocked to the tall Intellect, and blushed at his sweet talking nature, and there was a long line of guests, waiting to dance with him.
“Lord Oskuro, would you like some punch?”
A young attendant offered Riki a glass of punch, “Yes, thanks, could you also bring one to Lord Mink, I think he needs one, though I think a glass of wine might be better.” Riki grinned. Iason was coming towards him, being followed by a gaggle of dignitaries all vying for his attention, though some did feel a bit afraid by what they had seen him do, and felt his power when he transformed. Riki was certain, they would all see him in a different light from now on.
“Lord Prince,” came a quiet voice from behind. Riki turned around, and found a large group of people dressed in various leather outfits, all newly titled, Warrior Clansmen.
“Whoa! You guys all look awesome!” Riki's wide eyes, made the group relax, as they had hesitated in their respects, and bowed slowly, all looking at one another to see if they were all doing the right things protocol now required of them.
“We didn't know if we could talk to you,” spoke a young man, “There are so many important people around.”
“That doesn't matter,” Spoke a man decked out in black, “We now have the right to talk to anyone here. Is that not right Lord Prince?”
Riki enjoyed this discussion, as the group surrounded him, making Ayuda move closer to Riki, but Sir Luis Raymone raised his hand, and nodded at Iason. Ayuda stopped and returned to his watch over Iason, as Sir Raymone now shadowed Riki.
“That is correct, you are all now citizens of Amoi, and members of our Clans. I'm happy to see you guys dressed in leather! I want you all to become the leaders you were nominated to become. You will be educated, and so will our people in the cities. Jupiter has made this all possible, and you are all now free to pursue a better life.”
The young man, once again spoke up. “My Lord, how does it feel, to have such powers? We've never seen anything like that, I can't believe you were once the leader of Bison!”
“This is all crazy, and sometimes, it is weird, because I see some of the Elite, and remember them from a long time ago, yet, I've never met them before in this life. But it was cool, discovering I have all these abilities. Soon, you guys will meet some of our clansmen, do you want to meet my father?”
A collective gasp was heard in the group, as some of them looked over at Lord Kai speaking to a group of Blondies. They didn't know what to make of this, as he spoke without prejudice. Something they would have to get use to. He was the Lord of the Warrior Clans, and held the highest station, not only that, he was Riki's father. Some of them nodded excitedly, as Riki waved to his father to get his attention.
Lord Kai walked across the room, intercepted by Raimen, who was fanning himself, after several dances with both women, and men. He managed to escape by trading off a rather dashing young Blondie, to Heiku, who was actually going to see him about Lady Erin's care. Raimen, who could not get a moment's rest, passed the infatuated Blondie to Heiku seamlessly, and giggled as he met up with Kai.
“Father, these are friends of mine from the outer cities of Ceres, and Midas. I grew up in those cities, even had a gang of my own, called Bison.”
The group bowed respectfully at Kai and Raimen, whose smile was contagious. He stepped forward and spoke. “Look Kai, they are all dressed in the most scrumptious outfits! I could take them all home with me right now, do you think Iason would mind?” Raimen purred, as he walked among the group, who couldn't make heads or tails of him, but knew right off, that he was not like any Elite they had ever seen.
“Well, now, aren't you all a sight to behold!” Spoke Kai, as he took in their fresh faces. “And you there, what is your occupation?” Kai pointed to an older man, who stood slightly apart, as if unsure of himself.
“I-I'm the owner of a tavern in Midas, called “The Rusty Nail.”
“A tavern?! Kai, we'll just have to go there! I hope you have some nasty, home brewed ale, some of these places are too refined to serve the type of liquor that curls your toes.”
Kai gave Raimen a pointed look, “Now, Lord Mink, you know we're trying to bring back better days, but I'm afraid your influence on the children, will make Iason lock you away for their own safety!”
Kai laughed out loud, making the group feel at ease, and even laughed, as they watched the antics of Kai and Raimen. The young men thought Raimen was a riot, and were instantly smitten with the tall Blondie who clung to Kai's arm, and pointed at Iason and giggled.
Iason was still trying to shake off dignitaries like mud off his boots, as they persisted in speaking with him, and had to mentally tell Ayuda to have them disperse. Ayuda blushed, hearing Iason in his head once again, feeling rather exposed, to have him pop in just like that. Riki shook his head, as Iason finally made it to him, and handed him a glass of punch.
“What is the matter son? You would be better off dancing, at least that way, they would have to stand in line- worked for me.” Raimen teased.
“Well, father, you seem to have gotten out of that by pawning them off to poor Lord Heiku. Look at the poor man trying not to step on Lord Dane's feet!”
“Well, one of them tried to kiss me, what did you put in the punch? I know I've tasted this before.” Raimen's eyes twinkled with delight.
Iason looked at Riki, as if struck by lightning, as they both took a few sips from their glass. The thought of Omaki spiking the punch was an actual possibility. “He wouldn't dare!” Iason said under his breath. “I'll have his hide, if he did!”
“Well, it doesn't look like it's Tarnasian Cider Iason, at least, I don't feel any different, and this is my second glass.” Riki spoke.
Kai and Raimen looked at their sons, and fought hard not to laugh. The knew something, and wanted to see if Iason and Riki would figure it out. Of course, the punch was not spiked with Tarnasian Cider, for the hall would have become one king-sized orgy, and no one would be safe. No, what Kai and Raimen detected was something much sweeter, and a blast from the past. Their past.
Riki detected their quiet laughter, even though, Kai and Raimen said nothing. Yes, they were laughing their asses off in their heads. They knew what was going on, and they weren't about to say a word. As long as the guests weren't all sporting erections, he felt they were safe, but he did sense a change in the atmosphere.
Kai pulled on Raimen's arm, and the two made their escape into the center of the dance floor. They waved at their new Warrior friends, using them as a shield from Iason and Riki. The guests were once again enchanted with their dancing, as they lovingly gazed into each others eyes. The mixture of dance partners, made them feel at home, and this was a good thing.
He looked around the hall, and wanted to see if he could detect anything odd. Of course, it would be nearly impossible, as everyone was in such a festive mood. But as he thought on this, he felt that perhaps, they were too festive, as Blondie and Warrior were now speaking to each other, and the dignitaries, all loosened up from their high perches, to mingle with everyone. To see some of the old geezers trying to dance to the music, even the more modern jazzy tunes, made Riki take notice. Sure, there were always those who drank too much, or became a problem, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. Sir Raymone walked up to Riki, as he had been shadowing him for some time now.
“Sir Raymone, you've been quiet tonight, have you enjoyed yourself?” Riki grinned, as Raymone walked up from behind, before Riki even turned around.
“Y-yes my Prince, this has been an excellent gala. May I ask why you are scanning the room? Have you detected something?” Raymone now followed Riki's eyes, but noticed he had not raised the alarm by transforming.
“Actually, I believe Omaki will awaken soon, we have noticed his eyes keep dilating with more frequency, and his behavior is also beginning to merge. It won't be long. But don't worry, I don't detect anything in him yet, or anything bad, now that you mentioned it, just a few Elite who don't like what they see, but they don't pose a danger, at least not tonight.”
Raymone was impressed with Riki's cool attitude, if it had been him, he would have escorted them out from the hall. He had no tolerance for bigotry, and was always angry at the way Riki had to grow up. He was important, and wished he could have done something then.
“I was once shamed in front of many of these Blondies Sir Raymone, and to see them now with my memories returning, I recalled that some of them have not changed in all the time that has passed. I guess, some things can't be taken out of their makeup. But they don't pose a risk, and I'm sure, they will think twice before trying to screw with me now.”
Riki laughed quietly, as Raymone listened attentively. “What I do know, is that Omaki has done something tonight, so we need to be on our toes.” Riki winked, as he pointed out Iason to him. He could see Iason was determined to find Omaki, but seemed to run into a wall of guests at every turn. They both saw Ayuda move back the crowd, as Iason looked around, and they laughed quietly. He finally managed to find him, standing near the doors that led to the kitchens that were bringing out a steady stream of food, desserts, and beverages. Iason pulled him aside behind an assortment of decorative plants, and whispered into Omaki's ear.
“Alright Omaki, what have you done? I know you are up to something, for my father hinted that the punch tasted familiar to him and Lord Kai. Did you spike the punch?! I'll have your hide if you did, so help me Jupiter! This room is full of dignitaries, not to mention an assortment of people from throughout Amoi!”
Omaki looked at Iason with a twinkle in his eye, and smiled sweetly. He was standing oh-so-close to Iason, and at first, thought he was trying to kiss him. “Now, now, my dear Iason, why in the world, would I spike the punch with something that would make everyone live out their most private, not to mention deviant sexually perverted dreams with the nearest body all night?” Omaki licked his lips, and gave Iason a drop dead sensual gaze. “I'm not that perverted, though I must admit, I was tempted to use some of that cider your talented -and Royally connected- Aristian used, that wonderful night not so long ago.”
Omaki giggled, then placed a hand on Iason's shoulder, and played with a strand of his hair. “I want this night to be the festive gala it was promised to be...” Omaki's eyes began to change in color, as Iason also detected a change in Omaki's speech. Omaki stopped in the middle of his sentence, and then changed gears altogether. “I assure you Lord Mink, I am serving only the finest quality in all that is served tonight. Our guests have enjoyed exquisite food, and beverages, not to mention, the entertainment has been top notch. Though I must say, you and the young Prince, can certainly dance. Oh, the dessert trays are now ready to be served, but if you doubt me, I'm sure my co-host will put your mind at ease.”
Omaki once again slowed down, and lost his train of thought. He stared at Iason, who now looked deep into his eyes once more. “Omaki? Are you alright?”
“Hm? Oh, yes, I blanked out for a moment, must be the stress! Yes, let's see, I was given a list by Lady Jupiter, and followed it to the letter, as she threatened to ship me off to some rock in space, for garbage duty near some border planet, if I did anything!” Iason relaxed a bit, as Omaki continued, “Besides, that chef of yours, wouldn't give me the recipe for the cider no matter what I said. I must say, it would have been more interesting if he had.” Omaki grinned mischievously at Iason. Now if you excuse me, I have to check on the servers.”
Omaki gave Iason a mock salute, and gracefully bowed and walked away. What Iason did not see was Omaki breathe a sigh of relief, and giggle as he walked into the kitchens. There he watched the many cooks and attendants preparing the desert trays. He walked up and dipped his finger in a bowl of icing, and licked it off his finger. Yes, this night would be just as it was long ago, as he promised.
Kai and Raimen continued to dance with the endless guests, but as they spotted Omaki with Argent once again on the dance floor, they both maneuvered their dance partners towards them, and cut in.
“May I have the pleasure of this dance Lord Ghan?” Raimen purred, as Argent looked surprised. Kai also bowed out from his partner, and took Argent before either man could say a word.
“Of course, my Lord, it would be my pleasure.” Omaki smiled. He bowed slightly, and then led Raimen who turned to Kai and winked.
Argent bowed, as he knew Lord Kai would lead, and sure enough, Kai took his hand, and led him off away from Omaki and Raimen.
“I must ask Lord Ghan, when you were researching my era, did you ever come across something called 'Galen's Cake?'” Raimen looked into Omaki's eyes, as the tall Blondie began to giggle. He could not help it, as Raimen's smile was contagious, and familiar.
“I was so pleased with Argent's work ethic Lord Raimen, he must have read every entry in his archives to make this gala as authentic as those of the past. Of course, he did all the work, and I just dealt with the dignitaries.” Omaki paused, then spoke once again. “But I do seem to recall, that Galen's Cake was on the dessert menu. Why do you ask? Is it a favorite of yours?”
Raimen could not help himself, as he looked for Kai on the dance floor, And once he spotted him, Raimen waved enthusiastically at Kai, pointing at Omaki. Kai slapped his forehead, knowing Raimen had asked about Galen's Cake. Kai had sampled the dessert trays when he entered the kitchens to meet the many cooks, and was surprised to taste his old favorite. He looked at Argent, and as he asked the same question, Argent looked worried. Had they done something wrong? He could not understand why Lord Kai would want to know about that particular cake.
As the four men met in the center of the dance floor, Iason and Riki approached them. The guests had all enjoyed the night's festivities, so much, no one dared leave the hall. Riki looked deep into Iason's eyes, and nodded towards Omaki, who was swaying to the sound of the music. Argent now questioned Omaki.
“Omaki, Lord Kai, was inquiring about one of our dessert cakes, the one called 'Galen's Cake'...”
Omaki smiled, and reached out with his hand and pulled Argent into his arms and kissed him passionately. He spun Argent around, and wrapped his arms around his waist, as he bent down and nibbled on his neck. The four Ancients, just stood there dumbfounded, and stared. That is when Riki felt a strong ping, and turned to Iason.
“Is it Omaki?” Iason whispered, as Raimen and Kai also looked on. Then Riki looked around the hall, and noticed, that everyone was also pairing up, and one of the attendants had dimmed the lights. The music changed, to more soulful tunes, as the orchestra was now replaced with a band, who played something Riki expected to hear at one of the clubs in Ceres. The whole atmosphere changed, and all Kai and Raimen could do was smile.
“Ah, yes, now this is the Omi we remember! Raimen clapped his hands, as Iason began to panic.
“Father, what is this cake you speak of? Tell us now, before things get out of hand!”
“Now, now, son- this is a good thing, as I'm sure you two feel it, but can't tell, since you two are so lovey-dovey, but I'll explain, before you burst a vein. Galen's Cake was a favorite confection served at the Lord's Dance to all in attendance, as it's main ingredient was Golden Sugarcane from Lord Galen Sung's plantation.”
“Sir Galen Sung? As in Konami Sung's ancestor?” Iason spoke up.
“Now don't interrupt, didn't you want to know?”
“Yes Father, please continue.”
Very well, this sugarcane had a particular side effect when consumed, similar to one being intoxicated with wine. It was used as an ice breaker at the Lord's Dance, so you shy newly awakened boys would do something other than stare at the walls while everyone else danced!” Raimen became animated, “Anyway, it was well known, that Lord Galen loved to cook with it, and used it on most of the dessert dishes served at the Lord's Dance, but traditionally only after the main meal. It was forever known as Galen's Cake. Though by the looks of all the smiling faces, Omi probably added the sugarcane into everything served tonight.” Raimen placed a hand on his chin, trying to look concerned.
Kai roared in laughter, as Raimen gave up the pose quickly, and began to dance serenely, as he did centuries ago. Kai knew exactly what would happen, as the night was filled with intoxicated, if not enamored lovers, recalling the giant bond fires that were lit throughout the city of Ios, and having sex with Raimen on the cool grass. His cock came to life, as he continued to watch Raimen, and now came up behind him, and began to sway to the music along with his lover.
Iason watched the men dance, and looked over at Omaki with daggers in his eyes. Riki thought it was funny as hell, and decided to make the best of it.
“Relax Iason, you have been too stressed out tonight, and I don't detect any ill will. In fact, everyone has found someone they love, and apparently, don't care who is watching, including Jupiter. She's behind us on the far right corner of the hall. She seems to enjoy watching us, that old pervert.” Riki smiled, and then sensually walked over to Iason, and kissed him passionately. Iason took a deep breath, and wrapped his arms around Riki. Yes, it had actually been a perfect night, he was just so worried, he forgot to enjoy himself.
But as the last song ended, an old, but familiar tune was played, and a singer announced, “This is a special dedication from our Host, Lord Ghan, to Lord Iason, and Prince Oskuro, in celebration of their Lord's Dance.”
The music began and “Kiss Me Softly” was sung sensually by the male lead singer. Iason and Riki knew no one but the two of them knew of that tune, at least in the present. How did Omaki know to play it, and where did he dig it up from?
It was not Omaki who had found the song, it was Argent. As the two lovers began to dance, Riki raises his hands over his head and caressed Iason, who wraps his arms around Riki's waist, caressing him softly. They begin to sensually press their bodies against each other. It was now too late, the lovers begin to feel the attraction, and they knew the combination of Lord Sung's sugarcane, the wines, and their powerful attraction was too strong to fight.
So they gave in. The music, in sync with their emotions, brings out the purest of love from the Ancients. Kai and Raimen glance over at their sons, as they begin to feel their passion. It is unlike any they have ever witnessed, making the effects felt by all in the hall.
The four ancients began to softly, gently, radiate their inner powers, and as Omaki and Argent were in close proximity, Omaki begins to show his former persona. Images began to flood his mind, and he becomes confused. He realizes that Argent, whom he is holding so tight, and could feel his heartbeat against his chest, found him before he died.
“I died Argent...I died as you looked on...I died, and yet here I am.”
“You were my...dearest...my most treasured one...” Argent and Omaki stopped swaying, and froze, rooted to the floor.
Omaki begins to awaken, Riki feels the surge of his power growing, and watches along with Iason, as Omaki faints, but it is Argent who recalls his final moments, and catches him in his arms, before he also passes out. It is as if the scene is being replayed, and Iason and Riki now stop, as Jupiter appears.
“Have Lord Ghan and Lord Jensen moved to one of the private suites. Lord Riki, do you sense anyone else on the verge of awakening?”
“I sense Lord Am is, and would like to have him witness this event.” Riki looks over at Iason, who nods in agreement.
As the group move into one of the private suites, Raoul and Yui are also brought it. The Ancients all look at the two, and the surge of power radiating from them is felt by Raoul. Sir Raymone and his group now guard the doors, as the festivities continue, unaware of what has occurred.
Riki and Iason enter Omaki's mind, and find both he, and Argent are recalling their past. It is a searing heat, that greets them, and they walk towards the sounds of someone crying. As they follow the sounds, a sudden blanket of fog appears, and sound of laughter is heard. It is the laughter of many Maidens. They run in and out of the fog, and giggle as they look for hiding places, as the voice of Omaki is heard counting.
“One, two three four, I must come and lock your door, five, six, seven, eight, the Elders come, but it's too late...Now, my ladies, you must hide well, if not the Mistress will be most crossed with me!” Omaki is heard whispering. “I did promise to watch over you, so be good ladies, and hide well.”
“Iason, both Argent and Omaki are in the same fog, they must have died together, so we may see two separate accounts as we walk in the fog. Father, do you feel alright?”
Kai looks at Riki, when Raimen comes up to him and takes his hand. “Yes, Riki, I'll watch Kai.”
Raoul, who has never seen anything like this before, looks frightened, and can't find anyone. He begins to walk, not realizing he is walking away from the group. Iason follows, and taps him on the shoulder.
“Raoul, it is best to stay with the group. You have never experienced this, and it can be quite difficult to navigate. This is the fog you yourself will find yourself in, when you awaken. Riki could sense that in your mind, you were affected by our presence, that is why we want you to see this. When you awaken, you must navigate this fog, and surface back to reality. We will be helping Omaki, and it looks as if Argent is also here. We fear they may have died together, so the trauma will be hardest on Argent I think.”
Raoul looked around, and looked like a frightened child. “Y-you say that we all walk this fog? What will we find here? What will we see?”
“We will see the final moments of Omaki's life, and Argents. We will see parts of their lives, which may be shocking, for it is whatever it was they were experiencing, when they met their deaths, or it could be memories of their choosing. But what we truly are expecting, is to learn what Omaki knows of the Maidens and Lady Yuri Mink, my Queen mother. Remember, Jupiter can't see in our mind's eye, only Riki and I seem to have this connection, and this gift. So first, you have to learn how to move along, though you seemed to have been able to wonder off, so your mindset is strong. You will see us interact with Omaki and Argent. You may see people you recognize in the real world now. So perhaps you will see a loved one.”
“Is Lord Kai going to be alright? He was truly traumatized you say, I can't imagine he will find this pleasant.”
“Well, that depends, on what Omaki was doing before he died, and as the scenery changes, we'll see a bit more of what our world encountered in the end.”
Iason and Raoul make their way back to the group, as Riki looks at his father and Raimen. By his calm demeanor, Kai is doing well, and this is due in part by Raimen's presence. As the group listens, the voices of Maiden's singing is heard. Raimen and Kai look in the direction of the sounds, and it is Riki and Iason that lead the way. They project a warm glow, as the fog becomes darker, and soon, the five men are walking under the evening sky, the twin moons are bright, and air is cool. Suddenly, the sounds of war fill the air, and Kai begins to transform, his agitation can be felt by Riki, who now speaks to him.
“Father, this is not real, this is what Omaki and Argent recall, can you handle this? If not, I'll bring you out.”
“No, I will be alright son, I was just reacting out of habit. It was mostly during the night, when the Elders attacked, so one would have to watch their backs. I do however, recognize where we're going. This is the path back to the Ios tower, and Jupiter.”
Iason notices Omaki walking ahead of them. He is alone, and in a hurry. His clothes are tattered and soiled, and he has a cloak covering his head. He presses some numbers on a keypad near a darkened entrance, and walks in. The scene changes, and they find themselves in a long corridor. The walls are scarred with laser fire, much the same as the section where Iason and Riki were led by Ian and Jupiter.
Omaki pushes an old bookcase in what once was Raimen's old office. Raimen stops to look around, his last memory of his office was nothing like this. Everywhere he looked, there was waste, and broken furniture. The portraits on the walls were destroyed, and his desk was a heap of wood. Omaki moved the bookcase and entered into a private tunnel that spirals downward. Everyone follows, and once they reach the bottom, they all see that a room had been carved out, and humbly furnished.
There was a bed near one corner, and a small lantern which bathed the room in a warm glow. Omaki was sitting in a chair, he was tending to someone, and as he bent down to retrieve a jug of water, everyone recognized who was in that bed.
It was Lady Yuri Mink.
Raimen nearly collapses, as he sees his wife, aged and ailing. It is now Kai, who holds up his friend, as he remembered well, how Lady Yuri looked, and why she was in such poor health. The quiet whispering of Omaki is now heard.
“My Lady, I have the last of them on board, we'll be departing soon. You called for me, and here I am, please, command me.”
“Omaki, you are my most precious jewel, and what you have done for me, for Amoi, will never be forgotten. Hide them well dear friend, keep them safe...”
“I have been doing just so for nearly 300 years fair one. Can we be certain, they will not be lost? Will they ever be found, will they ever come home?”
“There has been a great sacrifice on your part, and both you and Argent will now hold the key to the most sought after treasure. Our future, will have to wait, and if our Lord Heirs are ever found, they will be the ones to bring them home. I'm certain of it. Iason is the key, don't ever give up looking for him.”
Lady Yuri coughed horribly, and Omaki held her hand, as she whispered, ”You are my most precious jewel. I know you were never meant for this, but I have just one more request...”
“Anything my Lady, you but need to ask..”
“Place me next to Raimen, I would someday like to awaken next to my husband. When he died, I died also. If not for this project Lady Erin and I created, we would all truly become lost forever, mere echoes of a once beautiful people. Iason must have at one point, thought of such a possibility, and he was right. I pray he is found, and we all meet once more at one of your wonderful galas, perhaps you will host his Lord's Dance?” Lady Yuri smiled.
“Yes, my Lady, my Queen, I will be most proud to host your son's awakening, a celebration of who we are. I promise we shall all dance the night away. For now, please, rest.”
The scene now changes, and Omaki is seen carrying Lady Yuri's body down below. Raimen watches in silence, as Omaki gently places her in the stasis chamber next to Lord Raimen. Raimen sees for the first time, his body, and that of Lady Erin. He looks over at Lady Erin, still young and beautiful, just as he remembered her, before her death.
Omaki walks to a nearby access port, and begins to remove data from Jupiter's matrix. He works fast, as the ground shakes from the blows of war. When the data crystal is complete, he places his final entry.
“Jupiter, please encrypt this entry for my eyes only, should I - no, that is not right- when I die is more like it- so it is best not to set up a schedule. Yes, right- you are to seal this journal entry until such a time arrives when I return to you with the rest of the data. Of course if I am DEAD, we’re screwed anyway, so...oh hell! I’m not a strategist for heaven’s sake, I’m an entertainer! Why oh why me?! Never mind, leave this entry as noted, I know I shall not see you again you bucket of bolts, so I may as well say my peace no? Very well, I am off to dance with the ladies, and I shall not share their company with any of YOU sorry bastards! So if you want to dance, you’ll have to find me first!!”
“Omaki! We have to go! There is no time!” Argent is seen running into the room. He is just as worn out as Omaki, and he looks thin, but he held an arsenal of weapons on him, and as Omaki covers his head, he looks back at the royals.
“Will they be alright? What if they are discovered?”
“I don't think so, didn't you see the bones above? Jupiter guards this building, we are Intellects, so we have access. I believe this is Lord Kai's doing, and has begun his final phase on Amoi, if he fails to win the battle, it will all go.”
“After 300 years of fighting, it needs to end...”
The scene now changes to a mountain cavern, and Omaki and Argent boarding a sleek ship. Kai recognized it as the Royal Family's private vessel.
“Well that explains why I could never find it.” Kai is heard to whisper.
The fog once again surrounds them, and the frantic cries of Argent are heard.
“Omaki! We're going down!”
Argent sees a blinding light before their ship is shot down, and realizes he and Omaki were about to crash. Omaki pushes him into a pod, before had himself escapes in a second pod, Argent watches through the portal, as Omaki barely escapes, before the ship slams into the foothills near the old mines. Argent and Omaki land in separate locations, Argent was found by a group of Elders, and was fighting them for several days, before he eventually defeats them. He trekked across the fields of dry vegetation, for the war had ruined the landscape. After the third day, he spotted Omaki's escape pod, only to find it empty.
For the next two days, Argent follows Omaki's tracks. The sun rises and falls, and the cool nights finds little rest for his weary soul. In the late afternoon of the third day, he finds Omaki. “Omaki!” The voice of Argent is weak, as exhaustion and hunger has taken it's toll. He kneels down before Omaki, who is on the desert floor, Argent holds him, as his tears fall.
“My love, I have found you! Here, take a sip of water...”
“A-Argent, I'm afraid, I am too....too far gone, but you must do something, take the data crystal, and find Lord Kai...give him the data where we've hidden them...promise me!”
“Hush love, let's get you to some shade, there must be something still standing...Omi?..Omaki!” Argent looks down at Omaki, whose head he was holding gently on his lap. Omaki breathes shallow for a moment, then dies.”
Riki and Iason feel the ground tremble, and realize it is not in their mind's eye. They exit their mind's eye, to the cries of Argent. The hall begins to tremble, as he holds Omaki tight in his arms. Jupiter creates an energy field around the group, as Yui watches in fear. Raoul was just sitting next to him, and does not respond to his words, but stares out into space, like all the Ancients . Omaki begins to choke, as the sensation of dying of thirst is replayed in his mind, and he struggles to breathe.
It is then, that Riki and Iason appear before them. Iason brings in Kai and Raimen, and one other, Raoul, to witness Omaki's awakening. Iason keeps them behind the golden veil, separating them from Riki who has now kicked up a tempest around the four of them.
“Argent! Argent, it's me, Riki! Can you hear me? Look over here, away from this fog, this darkness, follow the light, I am here, Omaki is here!”
Argent looks over towards Riki, he is glowing softly, and his hair is waving serenely. He is dressed in his royal robes, and Argent recognizes him.
“My Lord Prince? Why? How? How can you be here?”
“Argent, you are alive, Omaki is alive too! Come over here, take my hand!”
“But, Omaki is here..” Argent looks down, and Omaki is now gone, “Where did he go?! He was just here..”
Argent seems too confused by the sight of Riki standing in the darkness, as a thick fog begins to move in once more. Riki, knows full well this is a sign of Argent refusing to listen.”
“Argent, you need to come, you need to help Omaki! He needs to hear your voice!”
The soft glow of Riki's body, and the tempest now blow the fog away, and before Argent appears Omaki, lying on the ground. “Come Argent, Omaki needs to hear your voice.” Argent gets up off the ground, and begins to walk towards Omaki. “Call him, call for Omaki!”
Argent once again kneels before Omaki, and gently caresses his cheek. Omaki stirs, and his eyes slowly open. He sees Argent looking down on him.
“My love, did I fall asleep?”
Tears fill Argent's eyes, as he kisses Omaki, not believing he is alive. Riki and Iason now appear before them. Omaki sees Iason, and scurries up to his feet.
“Lord Iason! Lord Prince! You have returned to Amoi!”
“Lord Ghan, you and Lord Jensen, need to awaken. This may be difficult to comprehend, but you died, and have been brought back. You must now listen to Lord Oskuro, and follow us out of this fog of death. The veil is being lifted, and you must rise.”
Iason waves his hand and the golden veil that was between Kai, Raimen and Raoul is lifted. Omaki grows confused as he knows Raimen is dead, and Lord Kai has no scars on his face.
“Is this some trick? Am I in hell for all the pranks I pulled on you all? I know for a fact, that Lord Raimen is dead! I saw him...and Lord Kai either had some cosmetic work done on his face, or he's not here either!”
Omaki begins to run away, taking Argent by the hand. Argent looks back at Iason and Riki. “Omaki? What if he's telling the truth? I...saw you die.”
Omaki suddenly stops, and looks at Argent. “What?”
“I held you, you died...and I think I did too. We should go back, we're suppose to give Lord Kai the data crystal, remember? We promised Lady Yuri...we would..come home.”
Omaki looks at Argent, who pulls on his arm. Riki is now before them once more, He is alone. "Omaki, you have to 'want' to come home, you must rise above the sea of darkness, and swim into the light. It will be hard, but you two can do this. Iason and Lord's Kai and Raimen are eagerly waiting for you."
“I want to follow the young Prince Omaki, let's go.” Argent reaches for Omaki's hand, and then Riki takes Omaki's.
“You will see things that may scare you on your way out, this is expected, and you must not listen, and you must not let go of my hand, either of you. Is that clear?”
Both Omaki and Argent nod, as Riki once again kicks up his tempest, and begins to pull Omaki and Argent back into the fog, his warm glowing face lights their path, and as they begin to walk forward, the voices of many people are heard.
“Omaki, my Jewel..”
“Lady Yuri? Argent, it's Lady Yuri!”
“No Omaki! Keep walking!” Riki picks up the pace and they begin to float up into the dark skies, suddenly they are in a dark sea, kicking up towards the surface. Riki hears Iason's voice.
“Kick Riki! Reach for me!” Iason's hand appears before Riki who takes it and they break the surface. Omaki takes a deep breath, as he had stopped breathing momentarily, causing Jupiter to worry. Argent was catching his breath, as Kai held him in his arms.
“Here little one, I have you.” Kai whispered.
“Welcome home sweet child.” Raimen strokes his hair, as Argent's hazel eyes dilate, and he recalls.
“Lord Kai? Lord Kai! What happened?” Argent looks around, confused.
“It's a long story Lord Jensen, but we'll take this slowly.”
Next to him, Omaki still has yet to open his eyes. His breathing has returned, and Iason shakes him once again. “Omaki, open your eyes old friend, your Lords wish to welcome you.”
“Argent....where is Argent?”
“I am here my love, open your eyes, the nightmare is over, we are home!”
Omaki opens his eyes to find Argent's tear streaked face looking down on him. Omaki reaches for him, and pulls him to his face, where they kiss, for the first time, in centuries.
“My most precious treasure, we are back.”
Omaki looks at Iason, and Riki, but it is Kai who now speaks.
Alright you mischievous fox! Where are the Maidens?”
Omaki is helped to his feet, but feels the effects of waking. “I'm a bit confused, and I feel a bit tipsy. Good heavens! Lord Raimen! Where are we, in heaven?”
Raimen walks up to him and pats him on the shoulders. “No dear friend, but you feel tipsy because you spiked the food!! So perhaps you are in hell, for you just spiked nearly all the population of Amoi!” The slightest smile appears on his face, as Omaki's mind slowly reconciles with his present persona. “Oh my, Galen's Cake?”
Iason begins to tap his foot on the floor, “Yes, old friend, Galen's Cake.”
Omaki begins to giggle, along with Kai and Raimen. “Well, if this is true, then no one is safe tonight. Is there any way you can put me back where you found me, Lord Prince?”
*~*~*
Thanx for reading my little story, I'd love to hear your comments.
