Haunting Me
Author's notes: The first part of this chapter is not entirely my own creation. I copied the dialouge from Hellsing Ultimate Series: Vol. II. This scene is in the beginning of that volume and it is what inspired me to right this story. So therefore I had to put it into the storyline. But I DO NOT take credit for it at all. That part belongs to whoever wrote it. The end of this section will be marked with something to break it apart from what I have actually created and written myself.

"All flesh is like grass...All human glory is like flowers...the grass witherith, the flower fadith...but the word of the Lord endures forever."
The sharpened, wooden stake pierced through the clothes and then easily though the flesh of the vampire. The vampire let out a cry of agonizing pain, blood coming forth from his mouth. The vampire looked up hazily; weakened by the blow; at the man who had struck down upon him.
"Have I been bested?" the vampire asked softly.
"Yes you have been bested. This is not a nightmare you will be waking up from," the hunter said as he kneeled down to be at eye level with the vampire, "Your castle has been plundered, your dominions lye in ruin, your servants destroyed. And the girl has fled this place forever more. She will NEVER be yours, Count."
The hunter quicklu drew up his first, forcing it downward onto the wooden stake. The Count let out another cry of pain as blood spewed from the wound. The vampire felt as the hunter grabbed him by the collar of his shirt.
"You are judged and found wanted, Vampire King. You have nothing, you are nothing. NOTHING!"
The Count listened as his vision started to blurr, fatigue started to settle in as he closed his eyes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alucard woke with a start. He felt himself shaking slightly. The fingertips of his hand were covered in blood from the blood tears running down his face.
"It was a dream? No...just a terrible memory," he said as he arose from his coffin.
He glanced around the room to see that everything was the same. He caught something out of the corner of his eye, a wine bottle and a glass on the small wooden table next to his coffin. Alucard knew it was Walter's doing. Everyday; before sunset; Walter would bring him a fresh bottle of blood to his chambers. He thought that the bottle was a easier to look at then just the plastic bags of medical blood; like the ones given to Seres. Alucard thought that the bottle made it seem like he wasn't drinking blood at all. It was to trick his mind, maybe to keep a very tiny shred of humanity left in him somwhere in the recesses of his mind.
He easily opened the bottle and brought it up to his lips. The aroma filled his nostrils, the familiar scent he had known all these years. The same old metalic taste filled his mouth as he drank straight from the bottle. The blood helped soothe him but it did not help him forget the dream.
Alucard sighed to himself as he recalled the first time he had remembered that horrific day, the day he was captured and brought to be the Hellsing's pet vampire.
"It was the day when those two idiots tried to bring Hellsing to the ground," he said aloud to no one; recalling the Valentine brothers, Yan and Luke, "The girl....why can't I remember the girl he spoke of?"
A knock at the door broke his thoughts as he put the bottle down and quicklu grabbed his discarded pants on the floor, pulling them up over his long legs.
"Yes?" he yelled.
"Master," Seres said, "May I come in?"
"Yes police girl."
Seres entered the room. He was adorned in her usual style of tight and somewhat revealing clothing, "We have orders from Sir Integra to show Miss Elizabeth how to use some of our weapons."
"She's a vampire hunter, a slayer," Alucard said as he started to button up his white shirt, "How can she not know how to use our weapons? Does she not have any of her own?"
Seres shrugged her shoulders, "I don't know. Those were just the orders."
"It's strange. First Integra tells me to stay away from her and now she wants me to train her."
"I think Integra meant in a non-romantic relationship, strictly buisness," Seres said laughing slightly.
"No, really?" Alucard said sarcastically as he put the light grey vest on over his white shirt.
"Do you fancy her, master?" Seres said; looking down at his hands.
Alucard smiled as he looked at her, "I barely know her."
"I know," Seres said softly, "But she is really pretty."
"Is my little police girl jealous?"
Seres could feel herself turn a deep red, "If I was jealous of anyone it would be her. She's so gorgeous."
Alucard walked to her, placing two of his fingers underneath her chin. He forced her to look up at him, "Don't be jealous...yet anyway."
He walked out the door and down the dark, stone hallway. He was waiting for her reaction and got it just as he was halfway down the hall.
"What do you mean yet?" she asked running behind him to catch up.
He smiled to himself as he rose from the floor and went straight through the ceiling. Alucard was still smilling at Seres' reaction that he almost caused Walter to trip.
"Oh good evening Alucard," Walter said quickly as he caught the tray of tea he was caring.
"Good evening Walter. Seres has informed me that we are to show the slayer how to use our weapons."
Walter continued down the hallway with Alucard following him, "That is correct. Sir Integra wants Miss Elizabeth to know how to use our weapons in case her's don't work. She's currently in the library if you wish to follow me."
"Sure. Oh and thank you for the blood," Alucard said.
"You're quite welcome. However you don't have to thank me. It's just one of my duties."
"Yes but I never get to thank you for it. I just drink it selfishly."
Walter looked at the vampire, "Am I detecting some emotion in the infamous Alucard?"
Alucard sneered, "Walter after all these years we've known one another you should know that I have no emotions expect for anger and rage."
"Forgive me for asking," Walter replied as the came upon the doors to the library.
Alucard pushed the doors opene with his mind to make it easier for Walter to enter. He followed behind Walter knowing where she was instantly. No mortal would be able to see or even sense her presence. But to Alucard it was easy, he found her by her heartbeat. Elizabeth's heartbeat was calm and relaxing, almost soothing like a lullaby. They turned a corner to find her sitting at a table.
The green glass and gold base lamp was her only source of lignt for her to read the thick textbook that was in front of her. Elizabeth sat there in a pair of light colored blue jeans, black stiletto boots, and a black, button down, 3/4 sleeve shirt.Her long dark hair was smoothed back and put into a braid that reached her lower back.
Elizabeth looked up, "Good evening Walter."
"Good evening Miss Elizabeth," he said smiling and placing the cup of tea on the table next to her, "I hope you slept well."
"Oh yes I did."
"So the room is to your liking?"
She smiled, "Yes Walter it's very nice. Good evening Vampire."
"I have a name you know," Alucard said back to her.
She turned towards him, "I know you have a name. But I want to know if you know my name."
Alucard couldn't help but notice that the black shirt she wore had a deep low cut. He caught a glimpse of the bra that was underneath it, the color of rose pink, "Elizabeth."
"Very good. We weren't technically introduced properly...Alucard."
The way she said his name almost made his entire being tingle. There was something so innocent and yet provocative about the way she pronounced his name.
"Miss Elizabeth, Alucard and Miss Victoria were instructed to teach you how to use our weapons."
"But I have my own," she said taking a sip of her tea, "Why should I have to learn your's?"
"Because Sir Integra wishes for you to learn them. You are working for our organization so you might as well learn them," Alucard came close to barking at her.
She stood up, "Then I guess I should learn them. Where is Victoria anyway?"
"I left her downstairs."
"Not all tied up is she?" Elizabeth replied with a sly grin on her face.
Alucard couldn't help but smirk, "No that was the other night."
Elizabeth's expression changed after he had said that. That tidbit of information was something she didn't really need to know, let alone picture in her mind. Just as she opened her mouth to say something back, the three of them heard footsteps, like someone runnig down the hallway. They turned to see Seres running towards them.
"Master," Seres said almost out of breath, "You have to teach me how to go through things."
"Not until you drink blood nightly like a proper vampire."
"Ah come on master!"
"I said no!" Alucard lost control of his voice for a brief moment, yelling at Seres when he didn't entend to. He glanced sideways at Elizabeth who was reading her book, she acted as though she did not even hear him.
"Miss Victoria," Walter said trying to break the ackward silence that followed Alucard's burst of anger, "Would you mind accompaning me to the shooting range?"
"Oh come on," Seres yelled as she followed Walter out the door, "I just bloody got up here!"
Elizabeth couldn't help but let a small laugh escape her lips as she continued to read her book. Alucard, of course, heard her laughter which made him turn towards her.
~~IN THE HALLWAY~~
"Ummm Walter?"
"Yes Miss Victoria?" he responded barely turning his head to look at Seres.
"Do you think it's a good idea to leave those two alone?"
"Walter laughed, "Oh I believe it's quite all right. They need to get to know each other a little bit more before they go out on a mission. Besides, do you honestly think Alucard would trust her with our weapons without getting to know her first?"
"True," Seres replied, "But Integra told Alucard to try not to get involved with her. What if this is just the beginning of something that will happen later down the road?"
Again Walter laughed, "I'm sure Miss Elizabeth can handle herself. She is a vampire slayer after all."
~~~Back in the Library~~~
Elizabeth continued to read from the enormous book while Alucard stood there and stared at her.
"You can sit down Alucard."
"I know that," he replied.
"Then do it and stop starting at me."
Alucard couldn't help but surpass this moment to show his trademark smirk. He pulled out the chair next to her, sitting down with his right leg resting on top of his left knee," You are pretty calm for being around a powerful vampire."
"I've been staking vampires since I was five years old," she said, turning the page of the book.
"What are you reading?"
"The journal of Abraham Van Hellsing."
Alucard laughed, "Well I could tell you anything you coule ever wnat to know."
"I guess you could," she said looking up at him, "You being older then dirt."
"You're very brave to talk to the Vampire King like that."
"The Vampire King and the Hellsing's family pet."
Alucard was silent, she was right. He held enormous amounts of power yet he was a humble lap dog to the Hellsing Organization and to the Church of England.
"Looks like I struck a nerve," Elizabeth said, noticing how he didn't have a snappy remark.
"No nerve but you are correct. I am a servant, a lap dog. However I am only a slave to my passions."
Alucard could easily hear her heart beat a fraction faster as soon as he said 'Passions', "You're a virgin aren't you?"
Elizabeth looked up quickly, "What did you just say?"
He shrugged his shoulders, "I simply asked if you were a virgin. I figured you were since you have a heartbeat; full vampires do not. Then there's the fact that I don't understand how a female dhampir sits right before me."
"I had a twin brother. When we were still zygotes inside our mother the gene was there and then I split off from him; taking the gene with me," she smiled softly, "Or at least that's what I've been told. Besides I'm sure you had a heartbeat."
Alucard was quiet for a moment, "I did but that was very long ago."
"What made it stop?"
"A stake...delivered by Abraham Van Hellsing...and there was only one thing that ever made it beat."
She looked at him, listening intently to what he was saying, "What?"
"A woman," he said softly.
Elizabeth smiled slightly, "A woman? You mean the Great Alucard can love?"
"No but I did love her."
"Tell me about her."
He shook his head, "I can't remember. All I remember from that time was this feeling of being completely happy for the first time in my miserable, dark life. Then I remember the feeling of that stake piercing right next to my heart. I can't even remember her name."
"Isabella?"
"What?" Alucard asked.
Elizabeth turned the journal back a couple of pages, searching for something, "I can across the name of a woman named Isabella who was saved by Abraham Van Hellsing himself."
‘The Princess Isabella was found in time before the horrid beast could claim he, making her his vampyric bride.’
"That's it," Alucard said, "I remember now. She was an Italian Princess. We were to be married so there would be an alliance between Italy and Romania. I rememeber now...her fair skin...her dark hair...her piercing dark eyes...her..." he stopped; realizing that he was not just describing Isabella...he was describing Elizabeth.
‘We returned Isabella to her home in Italy. However a month later, we received word that she had died from an unknown disease.”
"That's a shame," Elizabeth said as she stopped reading, "Do you ever miss her?"
"I use to but not anymore," he said as he stared down at her. He could easily see the deep blue vein in her neck, pumping every second with blood.
He leaned in closer, taking in the scent of her skin and the scent of her blood beneath her creamy complextion. It was almost too intoxicating for him to resist the temptation. The thirst for blood drew him closer until he was ready to just sink his teeth into her neck. Just as he was about ready to bit into her flesh, out of the corner of his eye he saw her turn her head towards him. Then he felt the soft, silky feeling of her lips brushing against his. He lingered there for a moment before he felt her pull away. He could hear her pulse quickening.
"So....an unknown disease? Little odd don't you think."
"Yes but it was common back then."
"Yeah but she was with you before hand," Elizabeth started out.
"I didn't do anything with her if that's what you are implying."
"Nothing? Not even vampyric or sexual, for that matter? From the way you described her how could you not?"
"She wasn't like any other woman I could of easily sedued and had my vampryic way with. She was different. She was too precious, too innocent. She knew what I was and she didn't care. She loved me for the humanity that I possessed back in and she was the one who gave me my humanity back."
"How sweet....a beauty and the beast true story...no offense."
"It's fine. I've come to terms with the fact that I am a monster."
"You don't seem like one to me," Elizabeth said softly.
Alucard couldn't help but smile as he heard footsteps coming up behind them.
"Alucard! What exactly are you doing?" Sir Integra asked him.
"Just talking with Ms. Elizabeth here."
"You're suppose to be showing her our weapons."
"Walter and Seres are setting up the targets right now sir," Elizabeth said as she stood up, "Perhaps we should head down there now."
"Good idea," Alucard said; leading the way out of the library and down the hall. Elizabeth followed him; the two of them leaving Integra in the library.
"That was quick. I thought she was going to lecture us like a couple of horny teenagers who just got caught making out," Elizabeth said with a sigh of relief.
Alcuard couldn't help but chuckle at this, "Oh she'll probably lecture me later."
"Oh sorry."
"Don't worry. It was woth it."
"Oh so as it seems you're going to be getting lectures from Integra anyway, here's another lecture for you," she stopped as she watched him turn towards her, "Don't you DARE watch me while I bath every again. I know you were there watching me last night, so if I realize you're there again then I am going to stake you," she then smiled and walked past him and onward down the stairs.
Alucard was stunned. He couldn't believe that she could sense him. He had never met a slayer that had ever known when he was lurking in the shadows.
"Hmmm I'm really impressed now," Alucard said to himself as he followed her down the stairs to the shooting range.
~~~back in the library~~~
Integra stood and watched as the two of them walked on down the hallway. She couldn't help but feel uneasy about those two being alone together. She knew that Alucard would find some way to make that woman his new playtoy and that frightened her. How would she explain that to the Queen herself if the slayer she picked had fallen for their pet vampire.
She ran her gloved fingers through the front of her blonde hair, pushing it back away from her face as she turned towards the table, noticing the book. She leaned down to read it a little bit more clearly. Integra recognized it instantly, she had read this journal so many times as a child and as a teenager.
"Isabella....my god....what if it's finally happening."
Alucard couldn't help but smile as he heard footsteps coming up behind them.
"Alucard! What exactly are you doing?" Sir Integra asked him.
"Just talking with Ms. Elizabeth here."
"You're suppose to be showing her our weapons."
"Walter and Seres are setting up the targets right now sir," Elizabeth said as she stood up, "Perhaps we should head down there now."
"Good idea," Alucard said; leading the way out of the library and down the hall. Elizabeth followed him; the two of them leaving Integra in the library.
"That was quick. I thought she was going to lecture us like a couple of horny teenagers who just got caught making out," Elizabeth said with a sigh of relief.
Alcuard couldn't help but chuckle at this, "Oh she'll probably lecture me later."
"Oh sorry."
"Don't worry. It was woth it."
"Oh so as it seems you're going to be getting lectures from Integra anyway, here's another lecture for you," she stopped as she watched him turn towards her, "Don't you DARE watch me while I bath every again. I know you were there watching me last night, so if I realize you're there again then I am going to stake you," she then smiled and walked past him and onward down the stairs.
Alucard was stunned. He couldn't believe that she could sense him. He had never met a slayer that had ever known when he was lurking in the shadows.
"Hmmm I'm really impressed now," Alucard said to himself as he followed her down the stairs to the shooting range.
~~~back in the library~~~
Integra stood and watched as the two of them walked on down the hallway. She couldn't help but feel uneasy about those two being alone together. She knew that Alucard would find some way to make that woman his new playtoy and that frightened her. How would she explain that to the Queen herself if the slayer she picked had fallen for their pet vampire.
She ran her gloved fingers through the front of her blonde hair, pushing it back away from her face as she turned towards the table, noticing the book. She leaned down to read it a little bit more clearly. Integra recognized it instantly, she had read this journal so many times as a child and as a teenager.
"Isabella....my god....what if it's finally happening."
