A mountain path. A thunder storm. Rain beating down on the road, turning it to thick mud sliding slowly, so slowly, downwards.
Lightning flahes. A figure is illuminated for an instant. Tall and humanoid, wearing a long cloak that billows in the wind.
A shout. The figure looks downwards and sees. Fighting against the muck, another figure. A man. In his early thirties. Black hair, turning grey at the roots. Wearing a very expensive suit, even though the mud and the rain will surely ruin it.
The man shouts again. The figure shakes his head, not understanding. The man points. The figure turns.
A beast. What the figure came to find. It's not happy. A crackle of lightning. The figure barely evades it. The man screams as he is struck.
The figure laughs. The man is suffering, and the figure enjoys it. After all, this man has caused him pain.
The beast roars, firing another blast. The figure once again moves to avoid it. The man isn't struck this time, but it's close enough to make him jump.
The figure turns to look at the man. No words are spoken, but he tells the man to leave.
The man shouts a third time, pulling something from his pocket. The beast roars, a mighty, echoing roar. The figure is stunned for a second. In that second, the beast strikes with a blast of pure lightning.
The figure is sent flying off of the path.
It was a good try. For both he and the man. But neither of them was the victor. The figure didn't get his wish fulfilled, because the man had antagonized the beast.
The man didn't get his wish for the same reason.
The beast, a neutral party, stares at the man as he rushes to the path to look into the frightening void below.
The figure has disappeared, leaving only a brown cloak to flutter in the wind. The man turns to look at the beast.
He throws the orb, gold and white spinning into a blur. The figure is struck, and a red light encases it, sucking it into the sphere.
The man waits. The ball almost cracks, but finally, it flashes white.
The man picks up the ball. He's captured a Great One.
But he didn't get what he wanted.
Mewtwo.
